Racial passives

Now that I have gotten to VR14 and started optimising, it becomes clear how unfair some racial passives are. Many builds on tamriel foundry always use the same few. It just seems quite unfair that choises you picked because you enjoy the lore behind some races make you a noticable amount weaker than other races that I find dull.

The races at a disadvantage are the ones with little attribute % increases, which has become a bigger deal with 1.6 and change to stat values. The weakest seem to be argonian, nord and the poor kahjiit, who get no increases. I understand that some races get bonuses which make them unique, e.g. dunmer fire increase, nord has mitigation, redguard has stamina, but it becomes unfair when that is paired with lots of stats. So people who picked a class they want to play for the game are now at a point where they cannot become the strongest. You get to end game, realise that end game scoreboards are all about looking for the best and would want something optimal over non optimal. If anything, increase health % for said races to allow enchantments of other attributes.

No one really wants to level all over again, just to get to end game to be the best and play a race they didn't want to at the start. For a game that finds variety and lore important, it is not achieving that. I am leaving imperials out of this, they are ZOS's pay char, a little scummy, but in business it makes sence. Just make it a little more even and balence out all other 9 classes and you can solve a number of complaints for little work and little impact to the game.

These are my thoughts, what are other peoples suggestions? As far as classes, ZOS did a great job in 1.6, all classes feel much better, but thats a harder thing to define however.

My main is an Argonian nightblade, which I picked a year ago before the end o soft caps and they had a decent potion synergy. Well, ZOS ruined that and now my choice is a handicap instead of something simply cosmetic.

They said they're going to balance them with the next big update, but who knows when that might be. After all, the dust has to settle with the console launch first. I don't have much faith in whoever balances these things after they nerfed Argonians and boosted the Bosmer. It's frustrating, though. It makes me not want to play the game.

I'm an argonian, and I also feel that ZOS needs to address the racial passive imbalance. My main focus of imbalance deals with passives that increase stat pools (magicka, stamina, health). These pools have a dramatic effect on our characters that go beyond just being the supply we use for our abilities. They also effect how strong those abilities are i.e a larger pool=stronger abilities. Now, I know there needs to be a differentiation between the races, but not to the degree it is now. Just take a look at imperials and dunmer and compare them to argonians. The disparity is pretty obvious, and there's no way to catch up in those pools. This REALLY needs to be reexamined.

I think ZoS is actually working on it now.

i understand your point, but as a dunmer NB im not happy either... consider i play with 2 racials , flame talent is useless for me... so basicaly they need to review all racials and think them better.

Racials could do with a bit of a review, but I am finding that most races work well, admittedly the argonian passives are pretty terrible.

ZOS should just remove all the % ressources increase and replace those with flat values, this way every character get the exact same benefit from those passives and you don't have unbalanced situation where a single passive scales to silly proportions.

To be honest it really matters if you are doing competitive end-game and/or heavy PvP other than that sub-par builds/races can go till VR14 do the daily pledges with fair amount of dmg/heal/tank without an issue....

ZOS already stated that they do major changes to racial passvies. I'm really keen on seeing that.

TBH it is a great race for Nightblade. Consider to go for Vampire, because with your flame resist you can decimate that increased damage. Vampires do have insane passives for Nightblades if you can live with the increased fire damage.

The main reason why Argonian has the worst passives is not that they're useless. You can build an awesome leech-tank.

But the problem is, that this is the only build where Argonian passives make a profit. Dunmer can have many roles, Argonians not.

Imperials are also not the best race. For a "real Stamina DD" or tank I would consider going Redguard. Imperials are just the most versatile race, that's their advantage.

Yeah I'm a Nord so I know the feeling. Robust is a waste of a passive, nothing uses frost, and +3% max health? Why even bother? At least Rugged is a decent passive.

Yeah as a Nord tank I can relate. Our passives are not horrible but they could be a lot better. I get the frost thing, lore and stuff, but 99.9% of endgame bosses do fire damage, so maybe adding some that deals frost would be nice...
On the other hand I constantly hear that tanks should be Imperials and to be fair I tanked everything including Sanctum Ophidia HM, etc., and never felt like I was at a disadvantage. So I like to think that racials don't matter that much but I'm probably wrong lol.

I didn't know ESO had addressed this, would be nice to even things up. They should also try and synergise the passives a bit more. For example the breton and altmer have reduced magicka cost and increased element damage respectively, and then have an increase to magicka. With the argonian and nord, both their passives would synergise well with a good health pool, so why not make it 12% like the imperial. And the kahjiit gets bonus damage from stealth, give some max stamina to complement the stealth cost.
