Error 318....hmmm but I wasn't

Seems obvious to me. On the PC version I would occasionally get this when I got lag and repeatedly spammed an attack trying to get it off. When the lag cleared I would have tons of messages in my system chat logs. So it is probably the same thing? The only reason we can't see it is because of the lack of a chat window, but I bet that info is still being sent in the background causing the issue.

Also getting sick of being booted over this.

What the hell man i just want to play already! my lvl 2 can barely walk out the town before im kicked game freezes or this notorious 318 code. Out of the hours i have attempted to play i might have gotten a full hour in. Lets make it easy, how bout you tell us when the game is really being released and call this joke off. Im not laughing but im sure you are, i must ask if you got advice from bungie or Activision? This server handles just like destiny at time of launch so by those standards we should be able to grind in like 6months? I missed that email.

i was running with a bounty with a stolen greater gem. found a random chest with an advanced lock and tried to pick it. got sent back 30 feet from where i saw the chest then i saw the kinext light flash for a brief instant and booted back saying error 318. i wasnt messaging im in a party chat with my friend who was in my group as well on the other side of the island. i was at khenarthi's roost. ive been getting kicked off alot as well where the game will freezee for a moment and sends me back to home. theres a lot of lag going on people dissappearing for 10-20 feet alot. i was getting shadows of people for a while.

I was fighting in the tutorial zone. There was a lot of lag happening about a minute before and I was button mashing(I was stuck in the loot screen while being attacked so I panicked a bit). I was using game chat at the time but had my mic muted.

It has happened to me 6 time
I was fighting monsters or Trying to turn in a mission each time. The game begins to lag and then it kicks me.
and then after that it takes me 5-30 min to get back into the game. I am very upset at this. WHAT IS GOING ON????
I would think that the servers were tested before the game was released for the consoles. If the were it is very hard to tell

it has happened 8 times for me and 5 times for my friend and then it takes forever to log back in, we are just questing and fighting things and thats it

In the past when PC users reported this you immediately told them to remove addons and other such unlikely reasons ZOS have never seriously looked for the REAL cause .. now on consoles you don't have that alibi so maybe NOW you'll get round to FIXING THIS PROBLEM that's plagued us since launch!

I was assuming that the game was crashing to the dashboard due to lag. I just figured that it was due to so many people logging in on launch day.

I haven't had the 318 error, but I can't seem to stay in the game for more than10-20 minutes before it lags, I lose the ability to interact with the environment (crates, doors, and NPC's cannot be interacted with), players bounce around the screen, I get rubber-banded when trying to go somewhere, then the game crashes to desktop, or sends me back to the title screen with the message that I've lost connection to the game client servers or it lost the connection to the game.

I have TWC's 100mb internet service, and while I was connected wirelessly I still had a great connection (according to my router and Xbox LIVE) and a wide open NAT.

@ZOS_GinaBruno it may be worth rewording the error if it's based on client-server "messages" rather than player-created messages. Unless it also would occur for spamming mails, but maybe in that case there should be two separate errors (if possible).

I never got the Error 318 code (on Xbox One) until I went to Khenarthi's Roost. After that it keeps happening to me.

I was playing the game, mounting hourse,pressing A, back, start, looting, crafting. I have been dropped many times today. All from just playing.

Yes, I'm getting error 318 again. It was gone, but now it's back. Nothing more frustrating than being kicked all the way out...

Whole group got this message in the middle of a vet dungeon tonight. Also, the warning isn't "misleading" it literally accuses us of spam lol.

Yes it is misleading because that's not why you were kicked, That's just the display message.

Then the response should have said, "this message is in itself an error". Instead they say it's misleading and referencing that your game is "messaging" the server too much.

I had this error on the PS4 about a week ago, (sorry can't be more specific only just got on forums). I was in Cheesemonger's Hollow, a solo area with no one to chat with, without large numbers of players.
I spoke to Haskill, walked over to the bookcases behind him, pressed X to interact with the bookcase and nothing happened.
Even though the interaction icons still appeared on the bookcases and Haskill I couldn't interact with anything, change or draw my weapons. All I could do was walk around for about 30 seconds before the game crashed giving me the Error 318 code.
I didn't bash the X button until the problem had already began. I play solo almost exclusively so I almost never chat with anyone. The PS4 doesn't have the same interface as the PC version so the error code doesn't really make sense. I can only assume it might be to do with lag.
Why Error 318 though? Strange.
I've had various crashes with different error codes, but they often manifest themselves in this way. unable to do anything except walk for 20-30 seconds then the game crashes.

I just got this error, this error is a first for me. I got it while fishing in Wrothgar close to Honors rest. I had sent exactly one message and it was about 10 minutes before this happened.

Got the Error 318 last night 3 times in a row and the great glitchy game play before you get kicked! Kinda annoying for me considering I've used the mail function about 5 times in 3 months. I'm clearly a spamming machine!
