Question about Templar healer builds

omc_seamonkeyub17_ESO
Hi all,
So I have played off and on for a year, pretty much just waiting till console so I can play with all my buddy's. We have decided to go Daggerfall Covenant so I will be creating a Templar. Now I have been researching tons of builds, focusing on healing and solo's and am so confused. My main goal is to heal in a group setting but would like to be able to quest at times alone. What I keep finding is builds that are 100% put into health for healer/solo all say use gear that promote Magicka, well starting on a new server with no gear how do I do that?

What I'm asking is can someone help me with where to put my points, weapons that will help and restoring light or Resto staff...I really need some help!

I personally like 42ish magicka , 20ish health stat wise and all into magicka on gear.Breath of life is best heal morph. Restoring light tree. Extended ritual is a good morph and buffs Breath of life healing by 30% if allies in the giant radius. Resto staff skills are very inferior to templar healing. Using resto staff though for passives and magicka regen is nice though. Inner light from mages guild and repentance morph from restoring light are great also. No magicka costs and buff magicka and spell crit. Vampire is also nice for 10% more magicka. 5th ability be anything you want. I like elusive mist for movement speed damage mitigation. Structured entropy is nice for spellpower but has to be applied every 10 seconds for full effect, lasts 12 seconds but you could get off more breath of lifes instead of keeping the buff up making it pointless in my opinion.I literally never weapon switch as a vampire dark elf templar healer. Never seen anyone with better healing than me and Playstyle is fun and easy. Lay down extended ritual and breath of life spam along with heavy attack spam. I often use devouring swarm ultimate to help Aoe damage and self heal. You can't heal if your dead. It can be a boring playstyle for many. Play how you want of course but maybe you can get ideas of combinations from this.

Thank you Bloodstorm! What is your weapon of choice? Have heard mixed reviews on board and sword, 2h and dual wield, last question is for starting a new character would you recommend a 2 to 1, meaning 2 points to Magicka to 1 point of health?

Thank you very much for your advice, makes sense where as others did not! Again THANK YOU!!

No problem. You probably can get away with almost anything attribute wise for solo questing. End game magicka users often have most points in magicka but Being a vampire I take 40% more fire damage. That is why I personally go dark elf and more 1\3 attributes in health. If you plan on healing dungeons you need lots of magicka to heal allies. Ya different than solo play somewhat. Resto staff heavy attacks regenerate lots of magicka so it is must for healer. Destruction staff also generates magicka and as a Templar you could heal while using it on second bar or even main for fun. Duel wield and sword/shield heavy attacks generate only stamina. So they would not be great. I have seen some Templar magicka tanks though who spam sun shield alot and use breath of life as a support healer tank. If a group has a good healer though you don't need a tank till over level 49 for vet dungeons. In the end play how you want but you truly won't know if your build works until you are in the game playing, ha. One build might not works for another person because they get bored or they have slow reaction time on things. Personally in games I try and load up on lots of passives and skills that buff other abilities and just give passives while slotted with few used abilities. The less skills and weapon switching involved means the more easily you can pay attention to your environment and footing in combat. That is my take on it. I know I rambled and goodluck at launch.

This is good to know, really! I currently have a level 20 healer/2h that has a pretty high survivability rate but two things I run into on group dungeons are lack of Magicka and lack of Stamina, Soloing is fine but I like your take on this as I will now be focusing on both aspects solo, leveling and group healer! I will probably use a basic weapon when leveling up to to 10 mixing in magicka focused skill lines. Thank you for your help, VERY appreciated. I swear the WoW people were NEVER this helpful!!

Templars have resource management issues. I found that by buffing regen with Jewelery (Warlock stuff at your level, then Syrbane at L30 to L50, then Warlock until VR5 then Syrbane again is good. Especially if you replace the regen glyphs with Kuta or Rekuta based ones. Not, these items drop at the levels I indicated above, Bands of Syrbane are cheap in the Guild Stores (200 Gold each or so) and give more 3 pieces of Warlock Jewlery (Warlocks 5 Piece is what people chase)

It also helps that I am a Altmer and have the Mundus Stone for more regen too.

Biting Jabs and Purify Light will take down any Boss out there and keep you alive.

BTW, I use a staff on my Templar, and they are Magic Based, so no Stamina Buffs, which means no 2 Handed for them. I have not even trained up another weapon on my Templar. I usually use Class Skills on them for combat.

In any event, I rarely run out of Magic in a fight, even when I was leveling. I would get close at lower levels, but once I ran some Syrbane, it was all cake and cookies after that. I could not afford the Warlock stuff, it's expensive.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Hey Nestor. Didn't know you were a Com Advisor. Awesome. Anyhoo Biting Jabs is the Stam morph of Puncturing Strike. It's Puncturing Sweep (Morph) that the OP will want to get as it's the magicka based morph that heals you. Great for soloing. No disrespect to you, I just didn't want him to be confused.
