VR13 - What to do for Equipment

So I'm curious what to do as I approach end game (for now), in terms of equipment. I've been crafting my own sets since VR 1, usually only take them to arcane (blue). I'm currently wearing an epic (purple) crafted set that is a mix of Hounding's rage (4 pieces) and Night Mother's Gaze (5 pieces). I also just have some generic jewelry as well. I generally use two swords, 5 pieces medium, and 2 piece light. But I might move toward 2 pieces of heavy. I'm a Khajiit Nightblade. Up until this point, I've not worried about where I specialize as I've been strictly solo PvE. But as I move to PvP and group content, I probably need to decide a direction.

So my question is, should I just wait until VR14 before making a move toward some equipment. Or should I get something for VR13 and VR14. Is crafting the best angle? I'll be 9 trait in medium tonight. I'm just starting in light armor research for nirnhoned. I'm completely mastered in woodworking. And I'll be completely mastered in armor for heavy soon.

Hopefully that's enough info to get some tips.

I have three V13 toons who are wearing and using V12 armor and weapons. If I were you I would just wait until you hit V14, you're almost there.

I've always crafted the first level per material change, so V1, V4, V7, V9, and finally V14. Just as you have, before V14, everything is crafted superior/blue, and generally doing so ensures DPS and survivability is high enough before I craft again. Also, you might consider investigating sets with jewelry and/or Undaunted sets to give you more bonuses and higher DPS.

Start collecting V14 pieces of whatever dropped sets you want to use and just wait until you hit VR14, I think I spent all of VR13 in broken gear, grinding XP doesn't require much.

You didn't say much about your build but I run ravager jewelry, legs and chest on my NB with hundings and night's silence until I can get morag tong and serpent.

I partially don't know what to do. So any tips would be great.

I've been playing since launch. One character. It took me this long to hit VR13. So VR14 won't be for at least another month.

I too am about the same point as you.. 30% through VR13 though, played this same toon since launch (and a couple of others which aren't VR).

If you were to use a bow.. You cant go wrong with strapping 3 pieces of the Eagle Eye set into ur jewellery/weapon (Two rings and a Bow) - Gives you 600'ish Weapon crit with two items and increases Bow Range with the third. Even if you only run two pieces with dual wield that's still 600 weapon crit right there.. and that's on VR10 jewellery. Its one of the easiest PvP sets to get as well (Can find them at Guild Traders if you look hard enough)

I would run 7 pieces of medium if you don't have the Undaunted Mettle passive - there's no point running 5 med, 1 light, 1 heavy without it. The passives in the med armor tree stack based on amount of pieces you're wearing.

Personally as a stamina DK I use a 5 piece Whitestrakes Retribution that I crafted for VR13. Don't waste your Nirncrux stones on crafting nirn for a VR13, wait till you hit VR14 - they're just too expensive to be wasting. Run other traits like Infused/Impenetrable in the interim. Whitestrakes gives you a 8000'ish point damage shield when your health drops below a certain value (can't remember the exact figures) with a cooldown on it.

I have done all the solo content and I'm spending much more time in PvP now and this combo seems to work OK, but its not perfect yet. I have been grinding Cyro delves in order to push my XP up. Just to give you an indication, in an hour and a half in Cracked Wood last night I went from 19% to 30%.. which is slow going but realistically that's maybe another 7 hours before VR14 of solid grinding.

V13 is a great time to try out new gear builds to see what you like. Then you have a better idea of what you'll want at V14 for your final set. Don't improve anything past purple for V13. Save your gold improvement items for the build your going to keep at V14.
