The Hist Bark Pinata Problem

I am not sure why Hist Bark is recommended for tanks? Every time the dodge triggers you take a half step backwards and can't cast for a second. When a tank runs in on a bunch of mobs and they are all hitting him, the dodge triggers a lot, making it very hard to cast skills for the tank. Am I missing something here, or is this set actually a detriment on anything other than solo boss/mobs?

    You don't see any skill animation when you dodge, but you can use any skill you want.

    Hmmm, I will have to check that out. Seemed to me that when a pack of mobs was around me and I was bouncing that hitting skills did not work. With one mob, it's not bad -- just a slight delay -- but a bunch was another story. Will check out.

    The dodge animation overrides the others, but you can still cast. It does feel funny while you are doing the hammerdance, but stuff goes through.

    Well, having tested this I stick with my original point. It's not an issue with one mob, but with multiple mobs hitting you and many dodges going off you are NOT able to get the same dps off as with no hist bark. The dodge animation causes a delay that is not there without it. Thus, though I think it's great for tanking a solo boss, I think it's a definite negative with clearing trash mob groups.

    As I said, the dodge animation overrides all others. That does mean trickier casting. But as a tank your focus should not be dps, it should be debuffs and controlling mobs. Dps is great, don't get me wrong, but it's not the focus of that role. The dodge chance mitigates a massive amount of damage as well, making it exceptionalfor mitigating large groups.

    There is an animation for dodge. Your character actually lowers their hands and does a step back leaning away from the attack. I haven't had any issues it seems trying to cast spells that I've noticed.

    Yes, you see a dodge animation, but you don't see any skill animation when you dodge ;)

    Yeah, I recently started using Hist Bark on my tank, and it took me a little while to realize that my skills were still going off successfully even while I was doing the dodge animation. I only figured it out because I was trying to use Puncture at the same time the dodge animation was going off, and I noticed the health bar change to indicate the debuff had been applied.

    Ive been using for over a year as my main set and havent had a problem in any situation so far, if you dont like the dodge can always try alessia's bulwark although the 5 piece doesnt effect spells just melee... or shalidors is decent basically a health verision of warlocks

    When I cast shuffle (which grants me 20% dodge to any attack) I can attack as much as I want. Hist bark relies on the person to be blocking to get the added buff, which means block casting can occur, you just don't see the animation. I've dodged as much as 5 times while activating one channelled skill and the damage is still being done. Only the animation is interrupted.

    I realize tank dps is not the reason for their value, but it still can matter. My tank does more dps than a lot of melee dps due to a lot of CP points in might and high stamina. However, it's much harder to target and attack when you are bobbing and weaving over and over, and my dps goes down noticeably. Only an issue with many mobs. Just hate the effect.
