A question re: Ring of Mara

After a year of playing I'm still learning.
I'd like to get some input because some of the things I see on Reddit and elsewhere are confusing.
Question - If you have the Ring of Mara, you can only get married once, I get that. But I read two different opinions regarding their use. One person said that the ring is bound to only one character, the one you did the ceremony with. If you put it on another alt that you create, the game won't allow it.
Another person said you can transfer it usedto another of your characters and still get the XP bonus.
To those of you who do have it, which opinion is correct?

Disregard. After searching, The consensus is that its bound to just one and only one character and that you have to be in the same zone and grouped together always to get the benefits.
Yeah. Kind of like a real marriage.
