Nightblade - Deathbringer Build Idea

Sarevok_Anchev
Hello All,

Back after a decent break from ESO and some much had changed I decided to strip my characters and re-roll so I could teach myself how to play again. With that said and the changes in 1.6 I feel I can finally roll a stamina build and be effective.

With that said, I am an avid fan of dungeon and dragons and still to this day play the Baldur's Gate series quite often. I'm looking to make a Nightblade in to the Deathbringer class out of DnD. Here is a link if you're not aware of the class and its purpose.

Sarevok, the main antagonist in the first game is by far one of my favorite villains and would like to try and form a Nightblade build around him. Currently, after deleting my Norn VR7 DK, I have re-rolled to Redguard Nightblade and have only reach level 32. This is more of research and development overtime and after I finish Pillars of Eternity I'll be hitting the levels pretty hard.

Things I want to be able to use:
2h Weapon (preferably sword)
Heavy Armor
Heavy Stamina focus with a small part in Magicka (80/20)
Siphon for sustain
Primarily block most attacks

Now the playstyle is going to be near something I saw on Youtube by a player named Sypher, his youtube link here, but instead of focusing on dodging attacks and medium armor, I am looking to make a juggernaut of sorts that can take a beating and keep going with the high sustain and armor/magic resists. Unfortunately I can't find an update to date talent calculator out there to use to give you an idea of what I am mainly looking to use so I'll quickly give an overview.

Weapons - 2h / ?
Primary Bar - Critical Rush, Wrecking Blow, Executioner, Soul Swallow, Dark Cloak, Soul Tether
Buff (2nd) Bar- Reaper's Mark, Rally, Double Take, Mass Hysteria, and Vigor, Bolstering Darkness (Or Meteor)

Not looking for crits as I will get those with Critical Rush. Just high raw consistent damage from weapon and sustain from siphoning, reaper's mark, and Vigor.

Shoot me your thoughts and your wisdom if you have any that can point me in the right direction or if you think I am already headed that way.

Thanks!

It's pretty much already a thing, and it goes by the title "Ravager." Maybe more appropriate for a Sarevok fan anyways. Ravager +6 with 20% Deathbringer Assault chances bring back any memories?

Still your idea has some differences. The Ravager build uses a 2hander+bow/DW/swordNboard, and wears medium armor with lots of stamina. Heavy armor will make you nice and tanky in PvP, throw in a shield and you're tough to take down. I honestly prefer medium armor over heavy since it got buffed. Medium armor now gives 3/4 the value of heavy armor, and gets a 1:1 armor/spell resist for nice overall defense.

There doesn't need to be much sustain with the build. It's built around good sustained DPS and very good burst. You'll be tanky in heavy armor and you'll be doing decent damage so out-sustaining mobs won't be a problem.

If that's the route you wish to go, go for it. It's not a bad build. I would highly suggest taking Momentum and morphing it into Rally for your 2hander bar (you can't use it if you don't have a 2hander equipped.) Strife and it's morphs heal for poo diddly at Veteran ranks, it's not worth a spot on your bar at around 40+.

The build I use is pretty diverse. I can solo Veteran trials with it. My 2handed trial bar consists of: Rally, Wrecking Blow, Brawler, Leeching Strikes, Critical Rush/Double Take/Executioner, and Incapacitating Strike as my Ult. Brawler makes me super tanky due to the shield it gives, and basically it's the one button win for all of the trash. Just giving an idea of a similar build that would translate well into your kit.

    - Here's a link to my stream, which nobody actually watches, but I do stream my NB quite often. I'd say your build is a little bland, and could use a looksie into a very similar playstyle and build to get some ideas off of.

Appreciate the write up and the info on the pre-existing build. I'll try to look through some of the forums and see if I can find the write up on that.

And yes, I would love my Ravager +6 with a chance to insta-kill my targets ;) Sadly, that is one weapon type that never made it's way into ESO. Polearms would be a fantastic addition to our boring weapon line-up. Honestly, a lot more weapons and would be great and if they added 1h wands, grimoires, etc... and for resto they could add 1h + holy books or even ankh that we hold.

So many ways to add different playstyles and goodies. I just hope they keep evolving.

hi and welcome back. Here's what I could come up off the top of my head. heavy armour you say ok you are gonna be missing passives from medium which will help your regen but guess you could run siphoning when needed you will also miss the other passives for a pure dps. having said that I would go with 5 ravager (3 jewlery 2 armor )and 3 dreugh king slayer then head and shoulders from either the scorge harvester (to keep with your siphon idea) or bloodspawn ( stam regen and extra tanky). then throw in a master great sword and your good. rotation wise have rally on your bar definitely, wrecking blow and dawn breaker . other than that the rest are interchangeable I run with evil hunter (for passive crit and occasional mobs), relentless focus (for passive damage buff and stam regen) and executioner (for executing :) also buffs all attacks when mob is low).

aoe on your second bar could be done with another 2 hander if you wish using either morph of shadow path sap essence/power extraction and brawler id have the meteor ulti for max dps to use on bosses or for trash and to keep with your theme soul tether.aoe sword could have absorb health or stam enchant. also be a werewolf for passive stam regen. be aware dw is better at aoe damage but you will be tanky as hell in comparison with shields from brawler and heals from refreshing path rally sap essence and leeching strikes. you could also throw in mirage for giggles and stand in front of trash healing dodging and carving a path through them.
attribute wise really depends how tanky you want to be 18k is enough health really so you could put the rest into stam or go a little tankier.
As for blocking most attacks while doable in this build it will eat your stamina which you need for damage. with the shields, heals, armour and optional dodge chance I don't see you needing to block much.

disclaimer this is not min maxed its driven by the op's requests however should be playable in most if not all content. also this gear is hard to come by/expensive!!!.

Appreciate everyone's input and I have bookmarked this page for future ideas as I gradually form my character. As you know, I have my mind set on specifically playing this Deathbringer/Juggernaut role regardless of the positives of doing things differently like using medium armor and focusing less on siphoning abilities as they begin to scale poorly at higher levels. Unfortunately, I don't believe I have done enough research myself into the magicka damage to health siphon conversion and might be missing something. I also couldn't find anything of this " Ravager" build on google as it just points to multiple posts about the ravager armor set being incredible expensive and time consuming.

I'm trying to step out of the box of the typical Medium Armor 2h insta gib builds you see which is ever so popular now with 1.6 and more or less carve my own path in ESO.

Right now I know I am focusing on Heavy Armor, 2h, and sustain and I will continue to do some more research on the matter overtime on the influence of magicka damage for siphoning abilities. I don't foresee swallow soul to be a game changer but really hope I can find a place for it on my bar to be an adequate HoT/DoT that could turn the battle in my favor with a higher % of increased healing boosting the effects.

If anyone has any more constructive feedback or suggestions without suggesting a different armor set or focus of the build I am all ears!

    Thank you.

Things I need to do some research on are:
    1. Magicka damage to health conversion rate
    2. Armor/Weapon sets that increase health received or life stealing or in that nature.
    3. Heavy Armor Stamina Regen flaws and how to overcome.
    4. Physical and Magical resistance flaws when wearing Heavy instead of the suggested Medium
    5. Suitable debuffs to apply to increase my siphoning and physical dps (or even specific weapon types)
