Having a hard time.

I just don't know what to roll.my style of play is rogue type, or melee,
but unsure what stat to focus on stamina or magicka, both are required for the weapon and class skills.
plus health for survival.
I also love the idea of a heavy armoured 2 Handed orc, but repeatedly told not to wear heavy.

I love the dragon knight class but no idea how to play one, all this wearing different type of armour that you would otherwise not wear and mixing up your stats(magicka/stamina/health) etc etc is just confusing the hell out of me.
The game headlines itself as you being what you want but also being told by everyone no no no you shouldn't play it like that,

the only class that is straight up as it is, is the sorcerer, light armour all points in magicka and a staff(everything uses magicka)
but i don't like casters much.

There is so much to figure out it's doing my head in, i know it's me but i've been spoilt by playing a troll rogue (easy class to play) in WOW for 5 years.

And whats worse is that i've probably read a ton of guides/builds of different classes and they are all so different that it makes it even harder to decide,
sorry for my little moan just looking for some inspiration. :)

If you want an Orc DK in heavy armor, roll that. If you wanna be tanky there's definitely a place for that in end game. However orc is generally not a popular class for end game. But people overcome poor racial stats all the time.

If you want an ideal class that can do anything- I would roll imperial instead.

Imperial dk's can be great tanks
    Can be great stamina dps
Can also be great fire mage magicka DPS

It will take time to discover your play style in game. But if you're drawn to the dk, go dk. You won't be disappointed its a very versatile and fun class to play. If you roll imperial, you can play as you want as you level and you'll be able to see what you prefer. But when you arrive at v14 regardless of what you choose, you'll still be viable.

I wouldn't worry too much about literally anything you do with race/class when creating your character. I recommend playing however you enjoy because there are 1-50 levels where pretty much anything you do is fine. For the Veteran levels you can start to hone in your craft a bit more and you can easily afford at that point to respec. using the shrines. I play an Orc DK/Tank. I am well into veteran levels with him and I don't have any issues with any of the dungeons. As you find things that are difficult, you will learn to adapt and play to overcome those things. The same can be said with trials. The only race I wouldn't really recommend is the Argonian, because the passives are pretty terrible for end game. If you aren't worried about Trials in end game content, then you'd probably still be just fine. The vet. dungeons are not that terrible, especially if you understand the concept of adapting the build to each boss fight or dungeon run.

Using a different color is pretty infuriating.

As for the OP ... it all depends on how much you value min/maxing. The worst possible race/class/build/armor setup will still stomp through all of the single player PVE content just fine.

    Couldn't agree more.
There will always be better builds no matter what you roll, so the thing is to roll what you like.
I never had that need to be the most effective cookie cutter, and there are many ways to make a heavy armored 2H orc work with all four classes. It's not the tippedy-top of the A list but it can complete the game and PvP just fine.

EDIT: As to the health/stam/mag thing, I would probably just invest in your damage stat: Magicka for staves and class skills / stamina for weapons and class morphs. Do damage with your primary stat and use the secondary for buffs. In the beginning health can be advantageous, but come endgame a lot of people roll with 0 points in health and everything put into primary damage attribute.

Even as an Argonian you'll be fine I'd imagine for grouping in normal content. I've tanked and healed groups of normal content on my Argonian Templar just fine. Enjoy The Game! :)

I've made a lot of Dragonknights and I like Dunmer and Imperial the best for race......my first DK was a Nord, and while he is now Vet 14, he was a little harder to get there.

As of now my dragonknights are all stamina built and either 2 hander and dual weld, or 2 hander and bow......all med. armor and very high weapon damage and crit.

I do level sword and board also just in case I need to tank a little.
