Just as the title says, i like playing with a powerful pet(s). Was hoping there was one out there. Im just returning from many many months out of the loop. Currently have a VR2 NB whose awesome, would like an alt though.

The sorcerers Daedric curse has a morph that causes pets to do 20% more damage to a target. The last ability empowering ward morph gives you and your pets a damage shield but also increases pet damage. I really want vampires to get the ability to summon a bloodfiend thrall pet and maybe eventually a toggle morph that makes it so you can have 2 bloodfiend pets out but it takes up 2 slots.

You should also use Inner light (+7% magicka) and/or Bound Aegis (+8% magicka), more magicka means higher pet damage.
Welcome to the most boring build with only 1 active ability per bar..
    PC - EU (AD)
    Septimus Mezar - Altmer Sorcerer
    Septimus Rulanir - Orsimer Templar
    Septimus Desmoru - Khajiit Necromancer
Septimus Iroh - Dunmer Dragon Knight
    Septimus Thragar - Dunmer Nightblade
    Septimus Jah'zar - Khajiit Nightblade
    Septimus Nerox - Redguard Warden
    Septimus Ozurk - Orsimer Sorcerer

Well, for two pets, leveling sorc:

    End-game build:

Inner light is +5% magicka and +10% spell crit.

    Dps-capable... yes indeed.

Viable in Trials or Group Dungeons, not really.

The pets are too uncontrollable and pull bosses unintentionally etc. They die too easily, sometimes stand around doing nothing in a fight and have in some cases utterly ridiculous secondary mechnics - such as the Clanfear heal on death, meaning self-heals require summoning a pet and then deliberately killing it despite the fact it's a major source of damage.

Even more farcical is the claim by Zenimax that this was an intended mechanic.

I wouldn't run pets until they overhaul them... again...

... and I wouldn't hold your breath for that either...

When they first added the clannfear heal mechanic it had no cooldown and max magicka sorcs found they could exploit it with the rebate passive to get INFINITE 30% HEALS WITH NO REAL COST.

No grouped up DPS sorc should ever use the clannfear. Period. It adds nothing to their DPS that another skill couldn't do better and unless they have a really crappy tank, there are better options for mitigating damage.

The pet command is micro intensive. It works, but it requires you to hold a key and click a button. Not something you should be doing when trying to faceroll through you're rotation and maintain your DPS. However, it does work, and if you're using a winged twilight they usually auto focus on whatever you're attacking (unless you switch targets, in which case you need to tell it that).

Clannfear is amazing for you if you're a tank and know when to use it. But this is about DPS so, yeah...

No doubt impressive, but this guy is asking for a dps build not a solo build.

Pets have always been god-mode for solo builds, especially now with the new Clannfear being both tanky and with a 30% heal.

Pets still suck for dps builds, because same old issues. Dies really easy and takes to long to re-summon(Twilight), bugs out on terrain and attacks inactive targets(Clannfear). Neither can be controlled quick enough, so when fiddling around, you loose dps. While commanding pet, I could have gotten 2-3 damaging skills of instead. Even for simple gold pledges, there's bosses where you cant use pets.

If the Twilight was insta-cast like a DoT, if you had settings to always follow owners target even when switching quickly, maybe would work.

I'd say use inner light, Forget the dumb twilight, use the volatile familiar and be intentional in directing him using the game's commands and be sure that YOU determine when he blows up. Constantly re-summon him and send him into mobs / cause him to explode and you'll get some decent crit. damage on enemies from what I've seen. This means you are going to have your pet on two bars along with inner light but you could theoretically have the pet on only one bar since your using him as a bomb anyway... This could allow you to have plenty of other dps abilities like lightning flood, daedric curse, your instant lightning cast, crystal shards etc. You could also obviously use bound armor but I don't really like it that much. I prefer the lightning armor because it does some ok dot damage while giving you really solid protection. Some however like it for the bonus to magicka, which I get but it does cost 2 slots so it depends on your style. If you want to be more active, forgo it and use the other armor. If you want to push fewer buttons, use it. :)
