Try heavy armor. Do the 'one of the undaunted' quest, it will unlock the undaunted skill line and you gain the blood altar skill. Use health regeneration enchants on jewelry (gather the runes, then ask in chat for someone to craft it for you if you cannot enchant yourself.). If possible, a set with health regen will help a lot.

In the 2h line, use the first skill, morphed into 'brawler'. It will give you a damage shield everytime you use it, and it will get more powerful the more enemies you hit at once. Alternate one heavy attack, one brawler. This will keep your stamina up. Stand in blood altar, and your health should be regenerating faster than the monster can damage you. Use razor armor as well, this lowers the damage you take, damages enemies that hit you, and is cheap enough to keep it up constantly.

DKs are terrible at low levels. They are full of support and utility. Try a templar. For your first play through its a great class.
I'm kind of a small deal!

What are you talking about..? DKs are amazing to start up with so long as you go for stunlocking and dps. They're amazing at burst dps. But early on they suck at HP regen.

Most DKs tend to stick with 2h/Shield or shield/RS. I personally roll out 2h/RS for self heals and dps, though I've seen them run everything and be amazing.

In that moment there is no happiness but an obsessiveness with interest. And it is with great pleasure I say I am not, nor ever desire to be happy, but take luxury and with sense of halcyon that I am interesting."

My DK is only 25lvl and only one world boss was too tough for me solo - Spider Nest in Stormhaven.
I didn't use healing staff ever. I'm 5pieces of LA and 2pieces of HA. And almost all the time with destro staff.
So, it's true, OP is doing something wrong

I had the same feeling in the beta. I spread my skillpoints thin between all 3 class trees and two weapon trees.
Now I concentrate them. On ardent flame and earthen heart, but much more on twohanded weapons and heavy armor.

I watched some youtube videos regarding tanking, which explained this was all about managing resources (HP, Stamina, Magicka). I get the feeling the same is true for damage dealers. Have skills relying on both stamina and magic, so you can use the opposite when on of your pools is drained.

Heavy armor gives nice stamina and HP regeneration, earthen heart ultimate magmararmour makes you practically unkillable during its duration and does firedamage (and refreshes your pools if you skill it by the way).

Use Block and interrupt, use dode. Play around with abilities which make your opponents unable to fight (stonefist, uppercut).
People laying on the floor waiting for a heavy hit from your twohanded weapon are much easyer opponents then fireball throwing maniacs ^^

    Hope that helps.

    Regards

What are the levels of the enemies you are fighting? The first zone has enemies of like Level 5 to Level 15, I think. If you are Level 7 and wandered into an area with Level 12 enemies or something, you are in over your head. Backtrack and find quests and delves in your level range.

Also, if you see enemies out in the wild who have little red diamonds on both sides of their health bar, those are not meant to be killed solo, especially not at Level 7. That indicates tougher enemies you will want to group up with other players to kill.

    Stam/2H DK.

Unlock Carve (first skill in 2H tree), then level it up and unlock the Brawler morph. Shouldn't take long.

Brawler gives you a shield, this will help a TON with fighting groups of mobs.

Also, you're probably having issues running out of stamina. Holding left mouse when attacking will do a Heavy Attack. Heavy attacks with weapons restore stamina, and with Staves restore magicka.

DK is actually a REALLY easy class to level once you get the swing of it.

The first few levels of DK are a little rough yes. Every player could benefit from a set of armor early on. Maybe ask in chat for some help crafting a set?

Which server and alliance are you @madmax911 ? maybe I can help.

Anyways, stonefist is a great stun skill early on to help with mob packs of 3. Always keep your spiked armor on too.

The good news is that when a DK gets to level 24 he/she gets the Dragon Blood skill and basically becomes godmode.

Put your skill points in both ardent flame, earthen heart and 2 handed weapons. I have a level 5 and was wrecking things with Fiery Grip, Stonefist, cleave and critical charge. Start off with a critical charge, then use the Stone fist for a stun when your fighting two mobs at a time. Cleave helps a lot as well and hits multiple targets. So far I'm only using dropped weapons/armor and don't have much on.

In case you aren't, make sure to clear all content as you go. You don't want to be under-leveled.

On the other hand, you don't want to be over-leveled to the point that you don't get any XP for killing trash in Coldharbour due to being VR1. That happened to me on my first play through and it was lame.

I recently leveld a dual wield dk up to vet levels, very strong at low levels, 5 medium 2 heavy, 2 swords, i used fiery grip, searing strike and twin slashes, plus spiked armor, and eventually dragon blood, had no issues with anything except mobs dying to quick lol, which weapon you use shouldn't matter, but just those class abilities alone are ridiculously strong

DKs pretty much suck until they unlock Green Dragon Blood.
After they unlock GDB it's all YOLO.
