Templar - Purifying Light question

How often is the healing ring supposed to occur? I ask because I use Backlash frequently and out 75+ mobs I used the morph on only 3 times the healing ring occured. Does it not occur if my health is already full? Im pretty sure it appeared at least o 1 of the times while my health was already full/untouched.

I know that the ability needs to trigger for the ring to show up, either by reaching the damage cap or having the timer elapse. If you kill the target before those happen the heal won't trigger. I'm not sure if there is anything else that the heal requires but it is possible that the heal could go unnoticed after triggering since its aoe is so small.

Are you saying that if I kill them too quickly that I wont get the healing ring? I hope not because that sounds ridiculous, who's going to stand around and take damage just so they can benefit from their skill?!

It's not going unnoticed cause when it does pop it shows vibrantly on the ground for me....unless there's the chance that its under the ground, I have on occasion seen things happen under the ground or partial under.

Purifying Light is a skill used on things with a lot of life, not exactly short term engagements/for the healing. The heals themselves only do so much, and there are better self heals out there to use.

Also if you kill a job before the heal drops, that's a good thing, it means you don't need it, and backlash and it's morphs are used more for the debuff rather than the damage itself, unless I'm getting myself mixed up.

From my experience, if I put Purifying Light on say, an enemy player that is getting zerged by my allies. They'll die long before the 6s is up or before I can do enough damage and the healing pool won't spawn. I would suggest casting it on targets you don't think will die soon and see if the pool spawns properly after the effect runs its full duration.

Also, @Khivas_Carrick, the only debuff that Backlash is on the Power of the Light morph, which is the armor debuff. The base skill needs the full duration or damage cap to be reached to trigger.

thanks for the clarification. Im new to healing
I was intending to use it to bump small dmg back to full health but if thats not what it is useful for then Ill slot something else. Im a lvl 22 Breton Templar Healer with the intention to be mostly a healer in late game. I already have an Orc DK tank, a melee Dunmer DK warrior, an archer Wood Elf NB and a Altmer Sorc but Iver never in any game played a healer so thought Id give it a shot.

Healing Springs and Breath Of Life will be your friends, and Healing Ritual a close ally.

Purifying light is really intended for boss fights to heal the tank and melee I would say.

Remember that Backlash can now be placed on as many enemies as you want. Spam Purifying Light on every enemy you can see and watch the ground light up with healing puddles.
