Sorcerer Tank Help?

I really love Sorcerers. They've been my favorite class since beta. I've never tried a tank before, so I thought "Why not a Sorcerer tank?". I know that they aren't the best out of the 4 classes for this role, but I do know that it will it least somewhat work with the right build. Could someone post a link to a build or help me work one out? I need help with bars and attributes, mostly. I already have the gear layout in my head.

My requirements would be:
So-so DPS, I want to solo at least a little.
Obviously being able to take a hit
A source of self healing (not Surge, I don't think I'll be stacking critical)
Doesn't have to be viable in Trials, but it would be pretty nice

Hi Friend, the first post in this thread has a pretty decent tanking/DPS build for sorcerers.
I've been using it myself and its has been going well, just remember your basics of tanking.

Something I would like to point out is that as a sorcerer you actually have a somewhat AOE taunt.
If you lightning splash on a group, the clannfear will run up to taunt them. Because of his AOE tail swipe it is known for him to taunt the whole group. Which makes your class really unique.

It's not really useful in a boss fight where there are adds, because it only works when you hold the threat. But that's why you have DD's right?
Anyway have fun with it, I'm sure there's a probably better one out there, but this works too.

Okay, so the concept of the bars looks pretty simple. Have the three toggles on the bar like a normal pet build, have crystal frags with ward, and have Lightning Form and Lightning Splash together. Keep you DoTs up, cast ward when you get low, hit frags when it procs. That sounds great! Thanks!

One more thing. What race is best for this? Is Imperial still best for a tank like this, or should I do another race like Nord or High Elf?

Clannfear will not taunt anything that has more than just you on the threat table.

It is true. There is no reason to be a Sorc tank. There is no reason to be a Sorc healer. There is no reason to be a Sorc stam DPS. You may think I'm whining but it is the honest truth. You can do any of those things, but to a much lesser level of effectiveness of the other classes.

Wards in PVE content (especially in group content where there are high damage hits) are completely ineffective as damage mitigation. You might think you are feeling safe behind a 10k Ward (which is very high when considering how much HP you need too) but you're much better off hiding behind block which is nearly useless if using a Ward.

Mind you sorcs also get bonus stamina + heavy attack damage with BA (or magicka if they use the other one), great DoTs if you're keeping the enemy stationary, two sources of supplementary armor, conversion of magicka to stamina in emergencies, an amazing regenerative that also CCs, and a Talon-like ability. Not saying Sorc is the best, far from it. The other classes have better tools for tanking, but they still aren't bad either, so don't disregard them. Yes, the ward isn't as effective as people think, but it still holds off the enemy and is still pretty cheap to cast.
