Max Magicka and Spell Damage

Am I supposed to see a change in my Spell Damage value on my character screen when I change my Max Magicka? I've modified my max magicka by plus/minus 3k points and my Spell Damage didn't move at all. Could someone please explain how this is supposed to work?

    Nope. Magicka is magicka and spell dmg is spell dmg. Raising one does not influence the other.

    Yup. The big difference you will see is in dps when you raise these two pools.

    Increasing your Max Magicka will increase the individual damage values of your spells every 100 Magicka points IIRC, but will not affect your overall Spell Damage value on your character screen. You can see the changes in the description of your spells.
