Hello - I am aware there is another thread on this from a while back but it seems no one is following up on it.

There are still noticable problems with this bug even after latest patch. There is no word I can find anyplace about it even being acknowledged.

The Restrostaff heavy attack channel continues to disconnect at random times, causing the need to break rotation repeatedly to begin retartgetting. This very much needs addressed as when it comes to resource management, maintaining smooth heavy channel attack in rotation to support magicka is vital while healing.

I have also noticed that there are similar problems with Destrostaff heavy attacks for Fire staff and Frost Staff, though interestingly the channel heavy attack for Lightning staff has remained as in 1.5 and seems totally unaffected.

I wish I had the ability to record a youtube to show the differences here, but it seems now that the initial attack starts off way the heck off to the side of the player due to the change in the animation, it has adversely affected the channel sequence. On Fire and Frost Destro it is initially less noticeable since the attacks from these staves have always been a charge up and not a line channel as Lightning or Restro heavy. That being said, Fire and Frost both always targeted facing forward to the mob and the charge-up continued unless you took your finger off the mouse. Now it will veer off to the side and despite holding the mouse for full charge up, it just disconnects at random and you have to start over.

Occasionally it is just the animation that dissappears and not the dmg to the target, which makes the problem even more of a major annoyance in rotation. I can tell by my combat readouts in FTC that the issue is eating into overall dps when it surfaces.

Please address this problem.

Restoration Staff

Fixed an issue where Restoration Staff heavy attacks could sometimes cause health bars to desync.


I am happy to see this note since there has been total refusal to even acknoweldge this issue despite asking politely for someone to let us know the status of this issue. This still does not address the other issues listed, nor answer the questions regarding the destruction staves which also have this problem at random. I hope that there will be continued work on this. As I am now playing on EU, once the update is completed there, I will report back if this change has in fact resolved part of the restro problems.

    I have noticed really pronounced issues with the resto staff since 1.6 that got worse with 2.0.1. I have to press the attack button 2 or 3 times to get it to start and then it sometimes it acts like a series of light attacks, other times it stops mid attack and I have to re-start it. It very rarely goes all the way through as a full blown heavy attack.

    Yep. The other thing about this too is that is screws-up the passive bonus Essence Drain which as we know is supposed to provide additional percentage of healing to allies based on damage done of the final hit for heavy attack. Very bad bews.

    i noticed this too, i stopped using resto heavy attack to regen mana in pvp because of this, it wastes valuable time where you cannot make a mistake. and this animation is just full of mistakes near max distance.

    (when I played in 2014, it was Stamina... but then Support just told me it was Magika)

    This is correct. All staves, no matter the type, scale now off your magicka. What remains a mystery is WHY is there no acknowledgement from @ZOS about the bugging issue. It is consistent enough during nearly each play session to easily be seen by any dev if they cared only enough to test it.

    @ZOS_GinaBruno is it possible for you to let us know if someone on the dev team is aware of this and working on it for a future patch? Any reply would be appreciated, even if it is "no, no right now." Thanks

    Yes my Restostaff also breaks a lot. It seems always happen when the target is low in heath. IT like stutters and takes a long time to kill the target once the stuttering starts. Definitely lowers my DPS.

    I have been experiencing this as well. I thought perhaps it was an error with my mouse, but after reading this thread, I guess not.

    If this is the same thing (re. the Destro staff side of it) as my initial lightning staff attack sputtering out after a sec while I'm holding the *** mouse button down because I want it to be a heavy attack, then this is something that needs to be fixed asap.

    Also, I've noticed that weapon switching still isn't quite as smooth as one would like it to be. Most of the time it is, but sometimes it seems very laggy or I have to press the switch key several times to get the switch.

    I've had problems with heavy and light attacking randomly as well. It's hard to notice but sometimes in the middle of boss fights I'll notice my toon is moving her staff forward or cocking her elbow back to do heavy but zero fire comes out. It's really tough and I always have to just relog. Super inconvenient.

    Yes it is inconvenient. I'm at the point where I'm avoiding using the light/heavy attacks as much as possible because it always starts that stuttering just when the enemy is reaching death.

    This issue remains a problem, so I am not sure what it is they claimed to have "fixed." I have been questing and completing undaunted dungeons last two days and the drop off from heavy attacks, barely even after starting them still occurs at random, as do all the mentioned issues above.

    Incidentally, I have never seen such horrible lag in vet dungeons as we have on EU server. We have repeatedly had to abandon and reform some groups, only to start over again in the hopes that the dungeon was playable.

    Initially, I had assumed this was only an issue for me since I reside in the US and am now rolling on EU server. BUt then my guildmates informed me that this has always been the case even for them living locally and dealing with EU server. WHY is this not being addressed?

    I can understand lag in Cyrodill (which is bad enough) given the volume of players, but in an instanced 4 man?? o.O Why? I have rarely ever had lag in dungeons on NA, so this in addition to the staff bug is very annoying to say the least.

    Please address.

    Agree, resto staff heavy attack is borked.
