So whats a Good PVP Sorc Build and why so?

I have always been into PVP but my way is not normal.... call me a noob or whatever but I NEVER "Bolt Escaped" I lived for the hard Fight and took my deaths like a Good Warrior of Tamriel. I represent the EP and I was ultimately shunned for not being a "smart player" and abusing that particular skill like so many of my other sorc Brothers and sisters. with that being said 1.6 made alot of changes and I am wondering whats working for you? Is it fun and exciting? What skills and armor sets work best for you? Im a Crit mage that uses a destruction staff on main and dark magic secondary depending on the situation ranging from single target to CC I try to be prepared for everything. my armor sets are for now Night Mothers and Twilight Embrace along with Soul Shine jewelry

Im still using warlock seducer 7LA. destro/resto. The only change i made was adding magicka cost reduction to my jewelry.

Skills are even mostly the same

Bar 1 Destro - Streak/Boundless Storm/Power Surge/Crushing or Impulse/Inner Light + Clouding Swarm
Bar 2 Resto - Frags, Fury, Hardened, Healing (either ward or springs depending on what im doing), Inner light + Negate

Doesnt feel any different really. Some do more DPS than me, dont really care. I can still execute, cause ruckus, have other skills I can slot for more ruckus, and do good bomb damage on a flag if need be.

If you're going to roll sorcerer, here's why you should do it. These are the skills that give the class relative advantages over other classes:

- Conjured Ward. Sorcs have a good class shield that scales off magicka. This allows them to use Light Armor and still have reasonable survivability. Note, this is an active defense, and so it takes more attention than just having good armor
- Timed Burst. Sorcs have multiple class skills with a built-in delay before some (or all) of their damage. Curse, Mage's Fury and even Mines all qualify, and the new Assault-Line Magicka Detonation skill fits this, as well. The idea is to time the burst to be simultaneous with a weaved attack and a Crystal Fragments proc. The downside is that this takes a whole bar of skills and some time to set up. The upside is... dead enemies
- Bolt Escape For the most part, fleeing is not the path to glory. Also, don't buy the idea that sorcs can always escape, as that's beyond exaggeration and into the realm of complete nonsense. However, this skill will provide a great way to reposition yourself so you're not the guy the other team tab-targets. Also, combine it with Retreating Manuevers, and you *do* have a nice escape combination
- Lightning Form. If you don't want to rely wholly on damage shields, this is a solid mitigation spell. It also has the benefit of hiding your animations, which makes life a bit more difficult against players skilled enough to be watching them in the first place

Sorcs have other useful PvP abilities, but these are the skills that are better than their counterparts from other classes. Encase, for example, is a poor man's Talons -- but it this is a core skill for you, why didn't you just roll DK?

You can work out your own build. But if you're not making use of most of the above elements, you may have been better off with another class.

I still think if someone rolls a sorc and says (s)he doesn't want to use BE because it's "dishonorable" or somesuch, (s)he's rolled the wrong class. Though if the person's just talking PvE, then whatevahs. :-P

How is using BE Abusing the skill line ?!? It's a very good tactical skill, whether using it to position, stun, pull players away from big groups(because some people will try and follow) I don't think you can say using it is abusing it. It's almost like saying Nightblades using cloak is "abusing the skill"..

I have learned the glory of the nightblade as a sorc! I use invisibility potions in pvp sometimes and it. is. damn. effective. I only use them in 1v3+ though. So zergs, taking keeps, group ganks; these are situations that it works well in. You think Sorcs are "op" in pvp as is? Try having one DoT you, vanish, and then burst you from the side. Haven't found anyone it hasn't worked on yet. Most people seem surprised it happened. Some of them accuse me of cheating/have never heard of invisibility potions(I guess?).

As I said, I don't use them in duels because I think it's sneaky and doesn't help either player get better.

You can use overload ulti for the lolz.

62 points into magicka, all magicka enchants on gear, no other viable way to do it.

62 points into magicka, all magicka enchants on gear, no other viable way to do it.

tend to disagree - as i´m playing quite often with a templar beeing able to survive a snipe penetrating my shields is viable as a heal will bring me back into the game vs being instant dead so i´m having 25 points into life for 21k HP

I agree with you -- I also make sure I'm in the 24 to 25K+ range in Cyro, as I need to be able to survive a round to recast shields, and I don't want to die every single time a sniper sees me riding somewhere.

I have had to make a few changes to my 2H stamina sorc. I added more heavy armor to my mix. I split my skills evenly between Stam and Health. Unlocked proximity detonation. Timed with a curse and a critical rush WB it's a great burst hit. Then I BoL away if needed. I have found the defensive rune morph or prison to be really handy to have I. During small manning or solo. It has saved my behind from ambushes enough to be on my bar a lot.

My shields are pretty weak but with rotation stacking in between offense bursts but they give me an extra 12k barrier.
It's about mobility, hitting hard, causing havoc then bolting away to reposition. I rarely make a getaway with BoL, too easy to get chased down.

Glad to know someone is still running 2H sorc. I gave up on my stamina sorc and went full magicka. In 1.5 I had 2.5k health, 2.5k stamina and 2k magicka. In 1.6 its impossible to hold those kind of numbers and I couldn't run a hybrid build. Are you running 5M2H? What are your attributes like? How many bolt escapes can do you with that setup?

I am actually running 3H/4L with this set up. Rings are stamina regen and weapon power. I have a full set of Willows Path and I am trying Cyrodill Crest with the heavy for the weapon power and generous health boost. Race is Altmer with the magicka regen racials. I have to keep some light in the mix to manage my measly 6 bolts in a row (assuming well fed). But I rarely use my bolts as a pure escape, when necessary I pop a get a getaway potion. Using the BoL morph I can stand next to my glowy ball and get 4 secs of shield restore or regen, then rush back in. Yes I die a lot. CPs are going into weapon dmg, stamina and magicka cost reduction and improving shields.

Was running with more medium previously but with 1.6 the burst dmg is just so high, I can't trust my shield for all my mitigation and had to boost armor a lot. With the 3H I am pretty impressed how much longer I can stay in the middle of a hostile horde. I can miss a shield refresh and not get executed immediately.

Just talk to that EP Sorc that only dies when 5+ folks focus him... Name starts with a B... No name and shame but I think anyone that PvP regularly knows who I am talking about. He doesn't need to Bolt away...basically only takes damage with a hard CC lock down... But you only have a couple seconds to kill him else he lives.

I've seen a few of us around still. I'm still working on my solo stam sorc build, but it seems to be a little more along the lines of what you were thinking rather than what Thefamousmockingbird is running, and after 1.5 I was also running a hybrid build with similar stats.

I split my attributes between health and stam. I am planning on changing them more towards stam but right now I have 27k HP, 12k mag, 22k stam. My armor is 4M/3H; 2pc bloodspawn, 3pc potentates, 5pc ravaging, 3pc way of air.

I'm still trying to make this build more sorc specific. I have considered rerolling a different class or going back to full magicka, but I have too much fun with streak, despite only being able to cast it three times consecutively. It is really more for CC and short repositioning (not DK or Templar short, but you won't be chasing me across the map) with this build. Repositioning is key while using Dark Deal or Dark Conversion, which I have been enjoying lately. In a pinch and in some 1v1s I will pop Devouring Swarm>Elude>Dark Deal to get my health and stam back up. I am open to CC at that time, but I can get in some lucky dodges while channeling.

Edit: If you are wondering what my Hardened Ward is at w/o anything into magicka or spell power, the tooltip says 3k plus the 33% increase on self.
