Does anyone else have problems getting this to work? I press X when the prompt comes up and my character looks like he tries to bite something for a second, but 99% of the time he doesn't do the devour. Almost impossible to stay in werewolf form like this...

The problem with devour you need to let to run completely before it increases the timer.
Do you have any addon that shows how many seconds of werewolf form you have left?

If you break devour off early, you get no extra time. I hit X, wait for my add-on to show 7 seconds has been added (and devour normally takes 2 seconds) then move on to the next target.

What I mean is, he never starts the animation. He does like a "bite fake" as if he is trying to start the devour animation, but nothing ever happens no matter how long I wait.

I have an addon that shows a werewolf bar but since I haven't been able to devour successfully yet I haven't seen it increase. I'll keep trying different angles, I guess.

I get what you're saying, happens to me too. Dunno what causes it.

Have to hit it a couple of times to get it to actually devour.

after clicking devour, let it eat for 2 seconds without moving, till u see the blood coming out of the teeths..than u know he got it. dont mind if anyone attacks while u devour, cause in 2 seconds that enemy will be dead and u get extra stmina for it.

The real problem with devour is that it takes so damn long, and it does literally nothing, except increase time in form. Why can't it have some useful effect, like healing you, or increasing weapon dam, or something as well?

It does heal you when the devour finishes. About 25% total hp.
