What class best fits the main story?

So far I have only reached Level 12, so I've only seen the first couple of Harborage storylines, but based on what I've seen so far, I would probably go with Templar. Seems like it best fits the whole "chosen hero" schtick and would be the class that is most concerned with the greater good, plus fighting Molag Bal and other beings of darkness.

To be honest, All of them. Every Story Quest will have a vibe for each class, from sneakyness to pure raw power.

Im a templar lover, so If you ask me, I'm gonna say the obvious.

I am enjoying my Templar more than the other 3 Classes I have. However I have enjoyed taking each of the Classes through the MQ as the upper end battles can test the mettle of your character quite effectively.

Any class can fit within the MQ's Lore, you should try them all at some point.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

The one class that I would most question would be Dragon Knight. From what I can tell, it uses magic from the Akiviri, who are one of the main antagonists of the game - so does that make the class more or less the "Warlock" of ESO?

Honestly I don't say there is a class of best fit, as in true mmorpg fashion the protag is 90% or more a blank slate.

Like the above I don't think there's a class that suits the Main Story the best. In saying that Templar does feel 'right' fighting Molag Bal with Aedric powers.

The Akaviri as a whole aren't a main antagonist, they're never actually in the game directly at this point in time - they just invaded awhile back and got curb stomped by the Nords, Argonians and Dunmer working together, whom thus founded the Ebonheart pact.

Akaviri have done some good too though, they founded the Blades (also referred to as the Dragonguard in this time), and also the Fighter's Guild. The last two potentate Emporers of Tamriel, before they were assassinated and thus bringing us into this Interregnum of events were Akaviri as well, and they weren't particularly bad leaders by what we know.

The whole Dragon Knight art of fighting likely comes from the Blades ancestors part of the Akaviri, since the Blades were experts in Dragon slaying, it was the Blades whom brought the Dragons to near extinction in the first place, which is why they aren't seen and thought of as myth between mid 1st era up until the 4th era.

Also, Sai Sahan was the leader/grandmaster of the Blades/Dragonguard at this time, before the Soul Burst anyway.

The akaviri are not a main antagonist. It is a term for all the sentient beings that live on the continent Akavir. Just as saying that all sentient beings on Tamriel are Tamrieli.

The Akaviri that is the main source of DK magic and fighting skills are the Dov (or dragons in our tongue). The Akaviri that invaded morrowind where Kamal. Those are snow demons that every year try to invade another part of Akavir. On one occasion, unknown why, they tried to invade morrowind. As the part of Akavir they try to invade is Tang mo, that is a kingdom of thousand islands, it is possible they just went into the wrong direction and landed on Tamriel. They have absolutly nothing to do with the main story of the game.

among the akaviri are also the dragonguards. They are both simular as opposing the Dov. Both the Dov and the Dragonguards tends to see the Dovakhin (dragonborn) as important. Even though that Varen Aquilarios tried to become dragonborn (and in the process causing the soulburst, which is the cause of the current situation, the Dov and Dovakhin have little to do with the situation itself. It is just a false promiss by Molag Bal's puppy manimarco.

The story of the Dov, Dovakhin and the dragonguards is more centered around sykrim, not the elder scrolls online.

The current situation is centered bout two related issues:
1: Molag Bal is trying to pull Tamriel into his realm using the dark anchors and basicly take over. Meridia is against this and is aiding the Nirnians to rally against them.
2: The imperial empire is weakened and the surrounding powers (the three alliances) are strong. So all three try to invade Cyrodil and claim the throne.

There is no class more themed for the second point. But for the first, it would be templars and sorcerers. Both have powers that are tied to the aedra and daedra.

Through me you pass into eternal pain:
Through me among the people lost for aye.
