Will there be any system for back-crediting, at once or in stages, achievements already earned? Will the XP be small enough where people won't feel too cheek-chapped if that's not the case? I've made it my goal in this game to get all the achievements, and have come a veeeeeeeeeery long way towards that goal, and am maybe looking for an entirely selfish handout for stuff that I was doing anyway. o:)

    Gotta love that ZOS logic:

    - 1.5 added 5 levels to Undaunted, which can only be raised by running veteran dungeons (slow) or getting achievements (fast). Guess what option was the only one for those who'd already gotten their achievements?

    - 1.6 now adds XP for achievements. I have some 12.3k achievement points, and the achievements I'm missing are mostly the pain-in-the-ass-grindy ones (fishing, collectibes, harvesting, refining, etc.). Again, I'm probably not going to get much XP from that.

Oh, well... Could be worse. I have several alts that can farm easy achievements for the CP, which fortunately are account-wide. If you don't have at least a VR1 alt, though, you're in a bad place, as only VR1+ characters can earn CP.

I am unaware of how much of what is being discussed here is accurate, but the notion of providing XP, CP, or AP for achievements seems to be a simple matter to me. If it is going to be done, this is definitely the one place that I believe the devs absolutely need to back-credit the rewards for already-earned achievements. Not only would the loss of these rewards be unfair to someone who had already earned a large number of achievement points, this is just about the only time that back-dating the rewards would be definitively simple for the devs... there's an existing number already tracked to tell you precisely how many achievement points have already been earned. So, unlike (for example) the situation in which I had to begin working on a new achievement from scratch because there was no way to determine, say, how many materials I've already deconstructed in the past, this is an easily referenced fixed number.

If this reward is a plan, please back-date the rewards. Thank you.

300k EXP for a 50-point achievement? Let me see, that makes it 6k EXP per achievement point. Since I have 12.3k achievement points, I do believe ZOS owe me 73.800.000 EXP (or 184.5 Champion Points). I'll be waiting to see these in my account when 1.6 goes live.

It's a bit shocking that they are not back-crediting achievements. I get that they don't want people to get too far ahead, but they are sticking it to a group that has been their best customers.

I'm just glad I wasted only one character's worth of content and achievements and stuck to grinding the others. If I had leveled my alts with the same completionist mind set as my main, this would sting now. Even more than any of the other adjustments that were made to ensure the overall health of the game.

So doing a 300k achievement with full enlightenment will award 3 champion points? If using xp boosters you are looking at up to 3 plus 30-120k added. Without enlightenment you can nearly get a whole champion point. This on 8 characters for each dungeon plus all other achievements that award this much = a lot of champion points. I can see how players are going to be able to hit the 5-8 hundred point range in a matter of weeks. Of course this will be removed, but not until a large number of players have enough points to be 10-30% better than most players.

If this is how zos wants it I am in full support, but if they decide to reverse this a few weeks after 1.6 drops I wont be happy. I don't want zos to backtrack on this, either go with it or change it now. There is no excuse for changing it 2 weeks from now if they don't like it.

That's an excellent point, @derpsticks ! None of my alts are prepared for that kind of dungeoning yet, and my main has done most achievements as it stands, so if they decide to change things a little ways in then I might be in a serious bind!

    Good morning,
Is it possible to get an Official Statement that Achievements gain Xp that counts towards your CP gain? @ZOS_GinaBruno

I got on my Main nearly 13k and i would be pissed, just a bit ^^, if there is no back crediting for what long time players earned.

If there will be no back crediting, would the following idea work?

    -Create a Char
-Grind to 50 while doin as less as possible Achievements
-Once u hit Vr1, go and get em. As it is said that only Vet Char can get those CP.

Would it be worth the effort? Wont take to much time to Hit Vr1.

Then i would use my Main just for Crafting and Undaunted Daily runs.

I just tried and got no vp on pts for a Master exploration achievement (50 points). So what gives vp ? Or is it because am using a char with 3600 pts. But prior to the Master completion, I got vp for discovering each locations, but no massive vp upon master completion.

I did that on one character, just waiting for 1.6 now. I haven't done any of the main/mages/fighters quests yet either. It's painful to me having a character just idle at VR1 though. He gets smoked in PvP so thats not much fun, I've gotten most of the sky shards, not sure what else i can do . Hmmm I might try to get another guy to VR1 while waiting for 1.6.

True and that is the Point that Concerns me. Lets assume I did get the xp(dpnt remember) i didnt get anything with them to push my cp, since all xp u gain in 1.6 also reward u with xp for your cp gain. If u do those Achievements that provide Xp for Leveling and for Advancing with Cp xp u have an advantage if u complete them in 1.6

That could actually solve all of the back-crediting issues for all XP earned so far. Picture this:

    - ZOS said it's tracked every single XP point on our characters.
    - If, as @pppontus said, (some) achievements have always given XP, then it's already been credited to us.
    - ZOS could gradually reward CP for tracked XP up to the maximum CP earned by anyone post-1.6; this would be a moving goal, would allow all tracked XP to be credited eventually, and would prevent the creation of übercharacters because nobody would get more CP than the highest number of CP earned after the patch goes live.

For example, imagine at the end of the first month the most someone has grinded is 50 CP (in addition to the 70 credited the moment 1.6 goes live). The account with the highest CP therefore has 120 CP. Anyone who in the past has earned the XP necessary for those 50 CP (in addition to the XP necessary for the 70 CP credit at 1.6 launch) would have 120 CP and no more than 120 CP. So if I grinded 40 CP myself, I'd get only 10 CP credited. If I didn't earn any CP at all, I'd get the full 50 CP credit.

This would prevent new players from very quickly overtaking long-time players due to the larger amount of XP available for earning, without allowing an immediate flood of CP into the game. It would, in a way, "normalize" end-game players.

Yeah, not giving opinions there just pointing out that this is more an issue of the 70 CP cap than anything. If all XP was counted this would already be counted, if you're not V14, all the achievement XP will be counted. Then again you can probably guess what my 5 V14s think of the 70 CP cap. Funny enough I'll be working 200%+ when this *** goes live so we'll see how long I can still play this game before I'm screwed by people with 900 CP. Then again Champion System is the worst idea ZOS ever ever ever could have had imo. :)

Since i have one VR14 Character(with nearly all quests finished and just the pain-in-the-ass achievements left), one at VR1, and 6others that i only created before 1.6 to get the 70cp on each of them i still think about switching to another char as my Main.

I know i can earn CP expierience by grinding Dungeons over and over or do some other Stuff. But i still think about whats faster or more beneficial. To grind with my VR14 or to Play my VR1 who got all Achievements and quest left to do :).

I do understand that they wont let the gap in terms of being rewarded with cp grow to large.

    From Patchnotes 1.6:
Only currently existing characters created before Update 6 goes live are eligible to claim points from the conversion pool. Once they are claimed, they will move into an account-wide Champion pool that all characters can use. You must have at least one Veteran Rank character in order to receive Champion Points from this conversion pool to your account.
The 70 Champion Points from the conversion pool will never get more points added to it - only subtracted. If there’s a situation where you don’t use up all 70 points once the system is live, they will never be used since this only applies to characters you have preceding Update 6.

That doesn't mean what it seems to say. This is a hugely confusing comment ZOS have never fixed even though large numbers of people were confused by it when it first appeared .. it's like this ...

Right before March 17th hits every active account will get assigned a number of CPs based on the formula already known, or 70 whichever is the smaller. That's called the conversion pool.

When you log a character in after March 17th you will be able to claim the points in this conversion pool and they'll be transferred to the 'real' CP pool which is where all CPs earned in the future will accumulate; it's this pool which is available per character.

What this horrible comment from ZOS is saying is that the TRANSFER of points from the conversion pool to the 'real' one can only be triggered by a VR1+ character that existed before March 16.

ALL characters, no matter when they're created, will be able to spend the points transferred from the conversion pool and those earned after.

ZOS have never explained why it needs to be this complicated and why the conversion pool needs to exist, but this is the basis for many people thinking characters created after March 17 won't have access to the CPs earned before that date.

^This. Basically what it's saying is that if you hit VR14 after the patch is released you don't magically get any conversion points (how would that even happen?).. the most confusing statement ever released. You can only get CP for characters that were already VR, but they are then available to all characters.
