Apologies if already said... I think it was about 6 mo ago when several people were complaining about the semi-cleavage. Same as now, it seemed as though more liked the open top than not. It's unfortunate for sure.

Here's a comparison of the old and new Seadrake costume. Now the old version has a few variations of boots, pants and shirt.

Note how the new shirt doesn't really match the style. It's almost Star Trek like.

The second picture definitely doesn't quite say "pirate" like the first. I'm glad you brought this up, as I've been focusing on how disappointing MY character will look come 1.6, but now I realize how many of the NPCs will be recruits of Starfleet as well.

It also shows that we're not all here for cleavage; simply put the old styles just looked better all around.

    guys post more lewd please.

On a serious note, maybe they want not all of the female armors to have cleavage.

Female Redguard light armour had a high mandarin collar type neck and Elbow length sleeves which with my daedric gloves looked amazing on my very tall High Elf Empress looking healer. It now has t-shirt type sleeves and a funny looking v-neck.

So glad they are gold with gold enchants and SO green.

    Now they look Terrible.

In other words: sleveless, long wrist length sleeves or elbow length which meets up with most Glove length - aside from ancient elf which are wrist length and I call (on my NB) Mah rhymes with Itchslappers -but no t-shirt sleeve length. This is just awkward.

You just upped the PEGI rating from 16 to 18 and you remove boobs?

I'm female. My character happens to wear full breton plate armour, because she likes functional european-type heavy armour. So I'm not even impacted by the change. But having the option to pick sexy outfits (which are very far from slutty outfits) is very important for female players. Reverse this, ZOS!
    Yes. This. All of it.

I've said what I think about the change to Redguard female Light Armor already elsewhere on the forum, so I won't repeat that again. But yes, I'm a woman in real life and I like to have the option of attractive clothing.
    Rosveen wrote: »
I greatly enjoy sensible and practical armor and when I saw the Orcish boob window for the first time, I went "well that's just moronic, do you want to get stabbed?" But all things considered, it's a mild example of revealing armor and there's a dozen of other styles available, so I don't mind. I can find something for myself too. Even so, my characters aren't all the same and don't wear armor all the time (casual stroll around town, anyone?) Light armor is the equivalent of traditional Elder Scrolls robes, which are just clothes, and there's no reason why they need protective padding and whatnot. Of course they could have it, but it's not a basic requirement. Let's keep some of them lighter.
I have to say that the Orcish Heavy Armor "boob window" doesn't make any sense given orc culture - you'd expect them to go into battle with every weakness protected. But I am less bothered about it than I am about "boob plate armour", which features in several of the women's Heavy Armors.

But yes. Light Armor = Clothing. It was only Skyrim which had no Medium Armor category, and so put leather armours into Light. In Oblivion and earlier Elder Scrolls games, Light Armor was clothing/robes, Medium Armor was leather, and Heavy Armor was plate.
    Valencer wrote: »
Maybe the answer is to add some more actual clothing to the game? They've already started doing this a bit with some of the Justice System loot.
It's not that I'm against this idea so much as that I feel it shouldn't be necessary. In the Elder Scrolls universe, Light Armor has always been clothing rather than the type of armour used for protection - why change that now? Also the Justice System loot has no Armor Rating and so is useless as anything other than a costume. You can't wear it on top of your normal armour to change its appearance, you have to wear it instead of armour.

Male outfits can be really bad too, who among us is not tired of robes? Almost every light armor drop set in the game is still Robes only! And why all the robes have to be closed like a dress? Seriously... Give us open robes with actual pants underneath it...
Yes... As someone who prefers her men in Shirts/Jerkins and Breeches rather than robes, it really bugs me that so many awesome sets only drop as Robes. Give me a Shirt of Magicka Furnace or Jerkin of the Warlock, please!

To be anti boobs is to be anti woman - boobs are normal and natural and let us show them off if we want to! You know what when all armour is removed male characters get to show their chests. Why don't female characters have the same option? There are such double standards in this world over male and female bodies and it is a shame to carry this over into a game as well.

I understand that logically heavy armor should be about covering up but medium and especially light armour should be what it says.

When there is so much in the game that needs work and could do with improvement I don't think anyone was crying out for this change. I don't recall seeing in chat or on the forums endless calls for less cleavage.

I don't mind this change too much so long they add variants and options. If they don't then yes, this is really terrible. If they do add more civilian clothes or crafting options (shirt, top, sleeveless, skirt, pants, shorts, etc), then it's ok.

Like others, if I'm out adventuring, I want to look protected, but if I'm just chilling in a tavern, skirt and sleeveless top it is!

The armors look way better now, quality wise. As for the skin coverage issue, I won't say anything since I'll be damned if I do or don't either way. However the actual graphical quality is much better and looks far less "painted on" (an issue I have brought up since my first Beta 17 months ago). I am always happy to have better graphics in my gaming and this change brings just that.
I believe the "painted on" issue may have been part of their intention, especially in their decision to remove the appealing intricacies of the Redguard Light armor, but I'm not even sure they really succeeded. Looking at the Redguard Medium specifically now, check out the chest belt. It, in my opinion, looks significantly more "painted on" than it did previously and practically blends in completely with the chest when it hits the shoulder area. Either that, or the belt is about as thin as a t-shirt - they even give you a nice close-up zoom of what I'm talking about 43eb2f281ece859c5dd7f9caced35e42.jpg

As a female player I would like to add my voice to the protests against Bowdlerising our armour - no room for silly prudishness here!

Seriously, most of the female light armour shows far too little skin. And while we are at it, why those daft dangly bits at the front of a lot of the leg armour? it really detracts from the overall look. Not saying I want to look like Emma Peel all the time, but.....

@ZOS, I've been saying this since before release! PAY ATTENTION TO THE COMMUNITY IE... THE MODDERS!
Go to skyrim nexus & search for UNP, CBBE, UNPB, 7base, etc... Then search for Immersive armors, or tera armors, etc...
It's obvious that we like customization as well as expect a game with mature rating to have mature content!
If you don't have enough developers making this custom armor and fixing your character dimensions then higher some! You're going to get a ton of money as soon as this is released for console, so how about your models & armor right first!

I don't even use female characters, but I have to say that this is a little silly on how different outfits will be. I mean, light "armor" is really just normal clothes almost, robes, etc.

I also laughed at the AD banner with wood elf wearing the getup she had on, and yet now they will be getting rid of that I guess? I mean, TESO didn't feel like they went far with some of the female clothing / armor; this game felt like it had a good balance imo.

As OP stated, I consider this to be elegant and classy, and in now way distasteful. Five light, 2 heavy:

    foyi8A5.png

The argument about realism: First of all, you'll have to cut out a variety of costumes if one wishes to push realism. If you wish to make the most realistic character, and take the time to craft the styles and dye the armor... I'll gladly take the screen shots and post them on the screen shot thread boasting about, and congratulating, your efforts. You have like 13 or 14 other choices that are fully covered. Primal, btw, is not fully covered with metal as it appears to be a good deal of cloth undergarment visual.

    06gt9o7.jpg

But please don't deny my girls their right to flaunt what the gods gave them while they slap daedric beasties around....

The other big issue I have with this whole debate/argument is also the most common fallacy I find in these forums. People so often jump to the extreme. "You pervs need to go play them Asian MMOs!!" I have yet to see anyone asking for plate mail thongs and bikinis. So really... just drop that ridiculous argument/insult-in-disguise.

Once again, my position is just please don't take options away, only add them. Go ahead and add the new covered up armor style, but please add some way of obtaining the old classy elegant look as well. Even if that mean I have to look to the crown store, as long as the option is there.

I disagree. I was planning to continue my sub and slowly buy things I like from the crown store. Like an even better pirate costume! Or a proper wench outfit! Or a disguise to look like a noble lady. The last would be super simple to make and if it's the most interesting thing in the store the day I have crowns sitting i'll buy it. But if they take an armor that I've invested a lot of tempers into making, and change it from something I LOVE into something I HATE and then slap me in the face with I can buy something sorta like what I loved only I probably can't color it anymore, and I'd have to pay the crowns on ALL of my low level characters since most of them are wearing the same redguard style... That would really irk me. The new options should be variants offered on newly crafted pieces Anyone who is currently wearing the current styles is doing so because we like them. Look in the history of any fantasy game and see how much anger gets generated any time the style of clothing gets changed. In this game it's made worse because we can't really properly change the style of armor we already made without completely remaking it. So best be offering me a stack of blue and purple tempers then...
