Horse stats - Intentional or Bug?

To answer a few more questions:

1. “What happens to my mount’s base stats?”

The base stats of your mounts are accounted for when we do the changeover. For instance, take two horses: One is an Imperial horse you've fed 50 Apples to, and the other is a Light Horse (which is the fastest horse in the game), also fed 50 Apples. When the changeover happens, that character will have a full 60 in their riding skill’s Speed category – we’ll have evaluated that character’s mounts, and applied the highest stats they had in each category.

[snip]

In short, those choices you made before, both in choosing a more expensive and skilled mount, and in how you fed them, are taken into account for the conversion.

Um... This isn't what I've seen happening on the PTS.

I mostly play on the North American server, so this was an observation made in patch 1.6.0. However, here is my main character on the Live server:
fpBXZ.jpg
And here he is on the PTS:
fpBXN.jpg
Martin's horse riding Stamina and Carrying stats are correct - Stamina as expected from Alix the horse, and Carrying from an old Imperial horse.

However, I am not getting any benefit from my Light Horse in terms of Speed. Martin's Speed skill is only 13% since he fed Alix the horse 13 times. The fact that Alix was a Light Horse, with an extra 10 points of Speed, doesn't seem to have been taken into account.

Is this a bug, or do we only get the benefit of having expensive horses if we fed them 100% in the same stat?

Huh. I can confirm that having a Light Horse fed Apples 49 times (for a total of +60 Speed) did give me 60 in the Speed Riding Skill.

Though... I'm noticing a level disparity. When did you take the screenshot from Live? NA character copy was done a long time ago, it's possible you had only fed Alix Apples 3 times by the time they did the copy.

This was a change with 1.6.1 therefor the NA guys couldnt have it. You will see it with 1.6.2 when your chars get copied again ;)

I have the same problem in that I have 50 in my riding skill for both speed and carry but I also had horses that boosted each of those so would expect to have 63 in each based on their description.

As, like a lot of things, this appears to only affect some my guess is that they have a problem with whatever process they are using to change characters from 1.5 to 1.6.

As long as they can fix this before they go live....

PTS Martin was V10 whereas Live Martin was V11 in those screenshots, but Alix the Light Horse has been maxed out for many months. When I was talking about horse respec in September (something which is now irrelevant since the stats are on your character not your horse), it was that horse I was thinking of ;).

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you're saying. Are you telling me there was a bug in 1.6.0 which has now been fixed in 1.6.1?

It does not seem to have been fixed as my EU character was copied over for 1.6.1.

Does anyone have an update on this? Any more EU characters who can confirm whether or not they've received the 10 extra points in their Riding Skill because they'd bought a more expensive horse?

A couple of staff posts indicated that NA characters will be copied to PTS again in the next PTS patch so those of us on NA will get a chance to verify for ourselves (hopefully) soon.

I'll also be really interested to see whether my extra inventory based on the horse bag space gets wiped again on the next copy or if that's really fixed now (supposed to have been fixed in 1.6.1.)

Oddly my stats were if I recall 51, 21, and 51.

I have a max speed Light Horse(all points in speed), a Max carrying Draft Horse(all points in capacity) and a +11 Stamina Black horse(10 points in stamina, rest in speed which is my default Cyrodiil mount).

@Mantic0r3‌ , negative good sir. 1.6 merged horse stats, as I had a full speed bag horse with some added stamina.

OP, it appears to be a bug. One other possibility is if you've fed your horse since the character copy.

(I know for NA, it went back a little bit), so if you've upgraded since then, you may not see all of the stats combined properly.

I maxed out Alix the Light Horse in September, and hadn't fed any horses on that character since. I think the PTS character copy happened in December .

I guess I'll see what stats I have later on today, or on Wednesday, whichever is actually correct (the info about the next PTS Maintenance says "Wednesday 10th February").

I was sure this was intentional. I am pretty sure they are not carrying base stats over because the horses are just skins that you can change at will. You cannot have multiple horses now, so buying a crap horse than buying a good horse later would not work.

The highest attribute you have on any one horse is used, not an accumulated total of all your horses. So if your character has a fully leveled stamina horse, a bag horse with 25/24 in speed and bag space, and a speed horse with 23 points, your character in 1.6 should get 60 stamina, 35 carry (an extra 10 from the horse type bonus) and 24 speed and not 23+24 = 47 speed.

Okay, this seems to be be fixed in 1.6.2:
    fOEsn.jpg
As you can see, Martin now has 23% for Speed, implying that he is getting a 10% bonus for having a Light Horse. (Ignore the change in Carrying capacity - I sold one of my old Imperial Horses and bought three more named Speed, Stamina, and Bag Space). I haven't explicitly checked my other characters but they each have >50 for their riding abilities, which implies that their best horses are being used in the calculation.

What? Each of my characters has four horses right this second in time. You have to buy extra stable spaces (which are 10 gold, then 100 gold, then 1000 gold, then 10,000 gold) but you can have up to, I think, 8 horses per character.

Afraid you need to have one Imperial horse which you feed 50 wheat to. However, since you can also have a second Imperial horse which you feed 50 oats to, and a third one fed with 50 apples, it is a faster way of levelling attributes.

What is the practical difference with the horses since the update?
There is the Sorrel for 10,000g, other three still for 42,700g.
Is there any difference other than appearance, that would justify buying one of the 42,700g horses?

No. The horses in the stables are simply skins now :) Just expensive skins !

That makes my choice simple - and it took me a few months to save 42,700g.
