Conjured ward is fine as it is !

Greetings folks,

I'm making this discussion to react to all the complaints on the PTS about the Sorcerer's damage shield 'Conjured Ward'

People are saying, it is too strong....
But conjured ward is not the problem. Compared to the other damage shields:
The Templar damage shield also deals reasonable damage to nearby enemies. So it protects you and is a great offense at the same time.

The Dragonknight shield gives a huge healing buff while it is active. Which allows you to use amazing synergies. AND you must consider, that Dragonknights and Templars have really strong, instant self heals. Sorcerers don't.
The Sorcerer damage shield only protects us. Because without it, we would be very very squishy and we can't heal ourselves as fast as Templars and Dragonknights.

Using it in pvp, it gets destroyed by 2 good hits, even 1 hit of a 2 handed sword. So I have to recast it over and over again.

The problem is not hardened ward: Shield stacking is the problem. Sorcerers can use conjured ward AND can also use a healing ward. And this is what makes it so strong (other classes could do it either, but appearently don't do it as often as Sorcs do)

With that being said, shield stacking is a problem and even I agree, that this makes Sorcerers too defensive. I fear, ZoS could nerf conjured ward, which would hit us really really hard and would take us our only survival ability. I only want to say, that shield stacking is the problem and not the Sorcerer damage shield. I don't know, if removing shield stacking is the perfect solution. But it is a serious problem in my opinion.

I think, the possiblity to stack a class damage shield+ harness magicka (or other the other morph) PLUS healing ward makes this synergy so overpowered. Maybe make stacking more than 2 damage shield impossible would be a good solution.

    They need to not nerf sorcs more, while buffing other classes... No bueno.

    We were the underdog for many months now. Nerfing us would be very harsh. Sorcerers are strong, because they love stacking shield and even the best DD can't break it until healing ward procs and heals them to 100% health.

    This is the problem. But Sorcerers can finally have the chance to shine. At least in 1v1 pvp :) Haven't testet much besides that.

    How it stands I do not want conjured ward nerfed. First they need to adjust the mechanics of how shields work.

    1: Allow light/heavy attacks to generate ultimate when attacking a damage shield. (rumor is it does not but have not personally tested).
    2: Allow damage shield to suffer critical attacks.
    3: Change stacking rules for damage shields. Make some give the Major Damage Shield buff and others the Minor Damage Shield buff. The actual buff could differ from each other like most damage shields currently do. IE: Sun Shield and Bone Shield could be have the Major Damage Shield buff so can not stack even though both operate differently.

    Also adjust Critical Surge slightly.
    Surge: Remove the critical heal aspect from it. Add 20% Max Health Heal instantly at Rank 4
    Power Surge: Same as above and add the Spell Damage buff.
    Critical Surge: Same as the above but add heals on critical attacks in addition to the normal heal. This additional heal is over 4 seconds and stack but no more then 30% of Max Health for the hot.

    Give Nightblades an ability that also heals a little health instantly.

    Increase the Health Pool at least in PvP. I see no reason for the 10% bonus to health change. Make it 50% (or at least increase it somehow).

    Players are also using Glass Canon builds and then complain there survivablity is low. Most PvP games I have played valued at least some defense when building a PvP character. Sacrifice a little of the damage to add defense and it wont be so bad. One reason why the TTK is so insane right now is because no one seems to be concerned with actually adding defense to their build.

    I agree. Expect for the crit thing against damage shields. I think, crits should not be possible against damage shields. Crit builds are pretty strong and make it possible to crit against damage shields would make it too strong.

    When I'm in the pvp villages or between keeps, I like to keep up my hardened ward to survive a stealth attack (which would always crit) and I would be dead instantly. So crits against damage shields should be impossible

    And it's true, no ultimate regen against damage shields. This must be fixed.


    And what do you mean by 20% heals on Surge ? I don't get it.
