This is me, I just got into the PTS with my EU char with over 2,3 million AP to spend on these new VR14 gearboxes. It took about 20 minutes to burn through most it, and these are my thoughts and conclusions, which may be of interest to some who also have wondered whether or not it is worth buying them.
As you can see the VR14 blue boxes cost 6400 a piece, and as a medium stamina user I wanted to focus on the 2H boxes and the large and small medium boxes (that each cover their own body parts), and accessory. I bought from 50 to 100 to 125 of different box types, with main focus on armor boxes.
The good 80 to 90% of what I got was utter trash. The set items I got can be seen at the very bottom, and some I havent seen before. The only parts I considered useful was 2 x shadow walker rings that I got from about 50 to 70 accessory boxes.
Conclusion:
- Unfathomable VR14 gearboxes is RNG, where luck is a huge factor for success, but you're doomed to fail.
- 6400 AP a box may not be much but considering that just about 90% of the stuff you get is crap the cost heightens, and it would take several millions of AP just to get a "few" decent parts.
- Once you hit that sweet 10% and get decent set items like Hawk's eye and Morags Tong, they usually come with WRONG traits such as "Well-fitted".
- Unfathomable VR14 gearboxes could trick other players into buying them since there are no other real gear purchase options part from the Elite Gear Vendor, who also have gear with wrong traits / half sets.
- WHY do we even have these Unfathomable VR14 gearboxes.
In a more bright Cyrodiil there would be a greater array of gear options to purchase with useful traits. There could be random gearboxes as well but with drastically less focus on RNG.
