ALL bosmer drinks removed? Why?

Bromicide
Bromicide
Soul Shriven
Looking over the new recipes I realized something completely heartbreaking. Despite being three of the five zones in AD and being major players in the storyline, bosmer have lost ALL of their drinks. Jagga, Rotmeth, all gone.

How could you? There is no reason to suddenly remove all of an entire races' ethnic drinks. Again, let me remind you that the Valenwood is 3 of the 5 AD zones. But you can't make traditional Valenwood drinks? This is extremely not cool.

Bosmer drinks are ostensibly 100% meat-based, but with the way they did crafting, only food contains meat ingredients. Maybe they'll come out with special "for funsies" collectible drink recipes, eh?

And then maybe we can also have back our sweetrolls, and our moon sugar.

Would have been nice if they kept some of the names to make Provisioning lore friendly. This is an Elder Scrolls game, not friggin Stop N Shop... give me my Elder Scrolls food. You can simply provisioning without crapping on lore ya know.

Is this post for real? No one likes Bosmer!! Not only are there practically 3 1/2 zones of them but they're just so damned annoying. I was looking forward to more Khajiit related zones but lol nope, Argonian and Orcs are up next. Bosmer can go die in a hole.

They are just getting it ready for the F2P crowd who probably aren't TES fans.

One more example of how ZOS is selling out.

Wow. ZOS, this is more of a serious issue than this post is going to receive credit for. If this is the way the provisioning system is going, all the hardcore fans who really even care about this update will certainly suffer. Are there actually tacos? I don't know, but stop.

Racial foods being removed is a big no. It'll take effort to fix to ensure that racial foods can be created under this new system, but please do it before this goes live. Don't make it feel as ridiculous as it sounds on PTS.

They are all lore friendly because they have passed through the lore master who has worked on the TES universe outside of just TESO. He knows what is lore accurate better than literally anyone else so you are all wrong.

I have to say alot of the new names are very anachronistic and lame.

Please leave in the 'Iconic' foods like Kwama egg omlettes and FIshy Sticks.

Hasphat's Ale? That's a reference to Hasphat Antabolis, a character from Morrowind 800 years from now.

Surile Grapes? Reference to Suile brothers vineyards located in the (currently) inaccessible Skingrad region of Cyrodiil. Again 800 years from now. Unless the family's been farming grapes since the *** Merethic Era, I don't see how that'd be a thing.

Hircine's Meat Loaf? Adding Lore names infront of 'modern' dishes doesn't make it any more immersive.

An example is LOTRO. You don't have "Rivendell Red" or "Dunedain Dumplings". You have lore-consistent dishes like Lembas, the elven waybread, or Shire Apple Pie (who DIDN'T plant 1 million trees lvling farming), or with the more recent content stuff like Oxtail soup or Roast duck.

I'd say leave in the older recipe names and just change the ingredients. Make it like alchemy where you use the same herbs just change the 'base' to make a level appropriate dish. Perhaps leave in the older dishes as world drops you can snatch off of people's tables.

    Leggo my Sweetroll.

and NO NO NO NO do NOT put in Arrow to the Knee as a alcoholic drink.

I agree that lore names for recipes need to come back. As it is, the lack of the ever-symbolic fishy sticks and sweetrolls is by far the worst thing they could have done to Provisioning :(

I disagree! To an extent, anyway. Since many of the foods have generic names (poultry, game, etc.) they have the freedom to name them more lore-friendly things, or poke fun at various customs (like the Spinner Forbidden Salad).

Thats what I have the biggest issue with. Take for example Senchal Curry Fish and Rice or Argonian Pumpkin Stew. Pumpkins, really? That's what they eat deep in the hostile marsh?

Admittedly, there are some immersive names too. Wamasu loaf, since we're talking about Argonians. Ash-hopper dumplings and beetle-cheese. Flin and shein. But still, it's puzzling why they removed certain lore staple recipes.

Numidium brandy is an odd one. Why would anyone want to name a drink after the Big Stompy? It's quite a terrifying entity. :D

In a grand sense none of the food names matter. They could easily be called "Level 45 Health+Magicka Torte". But since they opted to try lore-appropriate names, they should at least keep to the standard they already upheld.

Pumpkins actually originated in Mexico, and Argonian stylings are decidedly Aztec in this game, so it fits super well with the overall theme!

Senchal is a remarkable Khajiit port city, and Khajiit have some Indian style influences, so curry fish and rice also makes perfect sense. :3

Sweetrolls are gone, but fishy sticks are actually still there, and even easier to make, requiring only fish. :D I'm hopeful that they'll add back the moonsugar, greef, and sweetrolls soon.

I really miss the bosmer drinks specially sun's dusk ale. Another sad recipe lost is sweetrolls. Both of these where great recipes that tied into the past lore of the series.

That's not really what this is about. They might make sense in the context of cultures that inspired each race, but this is a video game with rich lore and Khajiit are not Hindu, they're Khajiit. So in addition to mundane real world names we should see a lot of unique, exclusive to TES foods. Like moon sugar, the most iconic Khajiit substance. They should be at least somewhat exotic; I could make all these pumpkin stuffs, risottos and whatnot myself, so it's kinda... boring. I see these names and I don't think "Bosmer!" like with rotmeth, I think France or Italy or Mexico.

But then creating lore-appropriate recipes is tricky with this system, rotmeth was problematic even before - it was made from Aged Meat and Corn Mash, of all things. Corn?

But how can they take moon sugar away? It's just not right for all those Khajiit. Like taking away chocolate from the modern world. Imagine the panic!

And they took away the sweetrolls?! Who took the sweetrolls!?

Very insightful, I see your point! I think they achieved a pretty good balance of the mundane and the exotic, however. Take a look at the conversion list someone has compiled. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1id92dghezDm5XpXxoMyAzbm2eE3TaNhj5M17OuhJBKE/pubhtml#
A fair bit of mundane, but also a fair bit of exotic. We still have fishy sticks, sujamma, flin, mazte, ash yams (really a lot of Dunmer stuff). Other lore hasn't been as specific in its food, and indeed has been pretty generic. Moon sugar is only one of Elsweyr's staple crops. They also are known for at least rice, which is why it shows up in so many of the Khajiit dishes. I think certainly they had the opportunity to -add- new lore and create even more exciting dishes, but they might be limited in that by Bethesda's creative directors or fear of being accused of an arse-pull.

I wrote a cookbook as part of a Morrowind mod way back when. If they had asked I could have come up with lots of lovely recipes that would have fit in beautifully. They didn't ask though. I might still even have the text saved somewhere.

Been playing as a wandering chef since MW. Same character in every ES game.

Give me my roast ash yams, comberry pie, snowberry cordial, and corkbulb marmalade. Let me keep my fishy sticks, sweetrolls and moon sugar. Take your risotto and keep it please.
