Pre-Patch for Live

Given that this patch was huge on PTS and will again be huge on live. Is there going to be an option to Pre-patch. Even with the extended downtime and some pretty fast internet and lower numbers of people downloading PTS vs live, I still didn't finish the patch until about 30 minutes or so from server open.

Now, for people with metered internet, slow DL speeds and other issues, they could potentially have to wait quite a bit longer to play once 1.6 hits live. Is there going to be an option to pre-patch 1.6 via the launcher or even a simple executable download via the site?

I'm no programmer but I think a simple executable that copies all the patch files into your folder would be pretty simple to do. Just tell people, DON'T use this tool until the servers are down for maintenance. I suspect there would be a small incremental patch still, but it would really help alot of people out I think.

Hopefully you guys have at least talked about this before. I forget which other game did this, but I know I have pre-patched other MMO's when there was a really large patch. (Land of Dead for WAR maybe?)

14G is indeed a huge size, and allowing a 24 hour window for downloading will dramatically help players who gave limited or reduced connectivity and download speeds.

Not to mention;
There are many people who plan to come back after not playing for 4-6 months. These people are going to have a MUCH bigger download than 14G, and this strain on Zenimax's download servers needs to be put into consideration as well.

So basically; Hell Yes.

Good point, completely forgot about all the returning players and their massive downloads. I'd even go beyond a 24 hour early download. Give us like 3 days and then an incremental. But anything they do would be a huge help for them and for us I would think.

This is a very good point

I am trying to download the PTS build now and I have to pause and resume it every 5 minutes to maintain a download speed. It keeps dropping to zero and its a royal pain in the ass.

Consoles will have a boxed disc with a completely updated game on it, right?

Could we get at least a direct download from our account page of a completely updated game too?
