Fleeing?

Should fleeing be as hard as it is? Maybe it's just me, but it seems hard to get away. I know all the reasons why people will say it should be very hard, but if we do get away we still have a bounty and still have to be careful wherever we go, so the consequences are still there, just minus the horrible pounding by the guards.

I have attempted to flee several times today. I'm always being either rooted or chained back to the guards.

Not being able to flee is better then being able to kill an entire army of guards like Skyrim & Oblivion, while it was fun it did get dull after the 2nd or 3rd town. A happy medium is needed, maybe make guards more soloable?

They agro a long distance . I haven't seen a cop with that much determination since Starsky & Hutch first aired with 15 minute chases .

    Hard?

I was commenting to a friend yesterday about how it was easy.

My Level 17, with no skill points allocated, was able to get away about half the time, despite being chain pulled and whacked on. The guards had a better chance when they could team up on me, but I have successfully evaded 2 or 3 of them chasing me at the same time. I have also been killed by 2 or 3 of them.

The trick, at least for me, sprint out of the gate to try and get out of chain pull range. If they nab you, break CC as fast as possible. Avoid attracting the attention of new guards while trying to escape. Zipping around Mournhold, it isn't easy, but I was able to do it more than once.

Fleeing is very hard. even when in all medium armor, all passives taken, with constant roll dodges used I STILL could not escape the guards. I had to use cloak just to escape.

I can only imagine how hard it will be for DKs and Templars to escape the guards:D

I was able to duck into the thieves outpost to get away. It was fun. Waited for my heat to cool down and then left.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

I tried and nearly made it!! In Vulkhel -Auridon my plan is to flee from town into the sea, because guards can't swim:)

On a side note, it seems that once you break free from the first snare there is no cc immunity? Is that intended?

Fleeing should be so hard that getting the achievement for successfully fleeing should make you proud. I have only gotten away maybe half the time so far. It seems the system shuts down your abilities for ~10 seconds after you choose to Flee on the Guard window, so no hope to immediately use Immovable or Retreating to get away easier. And yeah trying to get out of Talon or that Petrify is no joke.

As have I on several occasions. Can I ask if we're talking about the same thing? I'm specifically referring to when you are caught by a Guard and you goto the chat box where you either pay up and lose all your loot or Flee. The other way where you are KOS is easy to escape them. As soon as you pick Flee, your abilities are disabled for a short time, at least they were for me. This makes it VERY difficult to get away, which it should.

Same here on the NB,Full Medium Armor, Shadowy Disguise doesn't seem to help one damn bit lol. Just as @DeLindsay‌, I seem to get away about half the time. Running into the water is a huge safety net IF 1). You live long enough to get far enough away and 2). You're near a body of water big enough lol.

Why would DK's and Templars need to flee from the guards? We'll just heal/bubble till they are dead and then loot their corpses..... Only NB's and Sorcs will have the problem.....

I think for me it's going to depend on my mood, sometimes I'll pay, sometimes I'll run. As far as the skills, I'm not skilled (other than being VR14 and having 200+ sp) and I get away sometimes, sometimes not though lol. I think skills can make a difference, but I also think it's mostly luck.

BTW, you can SNEAK right up to Guards without being caught, even Sneaking right in front of them. But the moment you stand up you are immediately caught and it's either pay up or run. At least I could in 7/7 Medium with Wood Elf passive and Medium armor passive + 3pc Nightshade and 5pc Night mother's Embrace.

They no die, everrrrrrrrrrrr! And I don't think they can be healed through and I'm fairly certain they ignore all bubble/defenses and are immune to most things, although I was once able to stun one with SD--->Surprise Attack.

There was a small raid (8-9 Players) in Rawl'Kha that tried to kill a single Guard last night for over 40 minutes. Every single Player died multiple times and finally someone got an addon to work and realized the Guard had 0 Health lol.

Ya they definitely aren't, however one of the test event descriptions has me confuzzled.
Crime Wave – Justice System Test
Channel your inner outlaw and help us test the Justice System. This test is not for the faint of heart—stealing, breaking and entering, and murder is needed. If you’re inclined to thwart the efforts of evil-doers, using any means possible to hinder those who are breaking the law is also encouraged.

When: Friday, January 30th (all day)
Where: Windhelm (in Eastmarch), on the ESO Playtest Server (please use a template if you don’t have an Ebonheart Pact character to participate.)
Event Goals: A large-scale playtest in a major city, with a focus on performing Justice System activities. We’re looking for people to play as they normally would in Windhelm, for solo players and groups to do Justice System activities and work together to simulate a guild sweeping into a city and coordinating a raid on the town. We also encourage trying to hinder others who are attempting to pursue Justice System activities.

The bolded would seem to indicate that they intend to have town raids(I assume that would include killing guards). And maybe some pvp justice lol

OK, new dilemma, let's say, just hypothetically, a greedy Nightblade decides to go pilfer a very secure place, like Daggerfall Castle, then this greedy nightblade gets caught pilfering. How the hell are they supposed to get away from the new squadron of guards assigned there?

Being a criminal should have consequences. If you play it safe and watch your six you won't even have to run from the guards 90% of the time.... based on the ~ hour I messed with it.

I will be there. granted, I am the worst NB in all of ESO history(some Templar killed me about 7-10 times in a row in PvP today:D) but I will be there to kill the foolish good-doers that DARE to attempt to stop me.

I pray I wont be stuck in a loading screen of death if I try to port there, last two tries I did.[/quote]

You're not supposed to get away. If you DO manage to get away then you will get an achievement for doing so and raise your Legerdemain tree and bravo to you for doing so.

I know, I've gotten away before. Here's the thing, we are supposed to get away because that is only one of two options, so it follows that getting away is supposed to happen. If we weren't supposed to get away then it wouldn't be an option. What I'm wondering is, will we eventually be able to increase our chances of getting away:
    A future Legerdemain Skill called
    Swift Kick:
Grants a 10%-40% chance to open a door even if you are in combat with a guard.
