Templar - Blinding Light broken?

from 1.2.3
  • Blinding Light: Missing a bash attack while under the effects of Blinding Light will now set the target off balance.

from 1.3.3
  • Blinding Light: This ability can now cause enemies to go off-balance when they are blocking.

I hated this skill and almost every skill in the Dawn's Wrath tree, but picked this up to use it for tanking recently. Works great in PvE, but in PvP... uh, well; last night while running around Cyro, I noticed that neither of these 2 effects seemed to work.

First, the bash attack was limited. In the heat of the zergs and keep defense, I couldn't always tell if they bashed, or Power Bash attacked. Hard to tell when people are block casting, so then I saw the 1.3.3 update...

And I can honestly say for absolutely certainty that not one of the 345346765789 block casting DKs/Sorcs and the few other Temp and NBs were EVER thrown off -balance when blocking after I cast BL, nor during any of the pulses from Flashes (the morph I have). Is this due to block casting, meaning that the act of casting while blocking excludes you from any block related counters? Or is this just yet ANOTHER broken Templar ability?

@ZOS_GinaBruno‌ @ZOS_JessicaFolsom‌ - Please have someone look into this ASAP, there is currently no proper counter for block casting. And can we maybe get a confirm if this is suppose to only work on the base level skill, or that it SHOULD carry into the morphs? I'd be glad to unmorph just for a block cast counter....

And if this has already been reported... we'll then get on the fix FFS! It's been MONTHS!

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

I was going to start same topic but seems you are faster. Anyways^^

It is working correctly for pve as it stated in tooltip and patch notes but not for pvp, like you said.
Main problem is off balance itself I think. It may be disabled in pvp somehow. Only its animation is playing (that little flying circle animation on your head) but the effect isn't applying at all. So you can't knock down people with heavy attacks. Same for interrupts and blocking incoming heavy attacks.

Really eager to see a dev comment on this issue.

Tested again last night and same results. Hard to do so in TB PvP, but I managed to check it on multiple blockers that were casting, and those that were just blocking with the same result. None of the players that I hit with the initial cast of Blinding Flashes, or that were affected by the pulse, were thrown off-balance. I tested on players that either cast Immovable, or Break Free, and I waited until the disabling effects immunity wore off in either case. I did this on all 4 of the classes, and I gave a lot of AP to DC/AD testing this for you. I really don't like dying in fights that I could have won.

Give us a response that you guys are at least aware of the bug?

    Thanks

According to to ESO Live on twitch and if I understand correctly, they gonna remove this skill completely and replace it with a channelled execute

I faced a templar just yesterday who used some kind of abiltiy that forced me to be stunned every time i attacked them...... whether it was with my DW axes or my Bow.

idk if it was blinding light, but something was up.

Yea, this is getting removed. But I posted this BEFORE the ESO Live. And my post wasn't the first time to address this issue.

Just another example of the lack of balance and attention that Templars suffer from and the lack of ESO developers to do something about it.

Haha! Best solution.. "If you cant fix it, then remove it." Just like they do it with npc mercenaries and forward camps.
    Anyways
An execute would be really cool, but i loved that blind field too. There are other "useless" skills in there such as backlash, ready to replace with something else since the beta. Trade with that would make more sense for me instead of blinding light.

    *sigh*

On the other hand, Blinding Light is somewhat out of place in the Templar's ranged DPS line, so I'm hoping this means they're giving more of a theme to Templar skill lines. At the moment Aedric and Dawn are a bit mixed (mostly in the sense that Dawn is lackluster and Aedric basically does everything).
