Agree! I would go so far as to say the casts should have the ability to select a specific target for the heal to proc off of. :)

I agree as well. I get that in PvP you fight alongside your entire faction but I would rather my heals go to the people who are dedicated to working with me not some random who just happens to come flying by. I wouldn't want to have to micromanage the heals, but at least having it default to your group first, then everyone else would go a long way imo.

My only concern in PvE is that my heals go to npcs before real players. Does this happen, idk?

In PvP, if anyone is close to me, it means they are part of an action (keep siege, resource cap, interdiction, whatever.) I don't care if my heals go to non group members. We're all in the same faction, working toward the same objective.

Really? I assume you don't group very often if you even have to ask.

well it should become true "smart" healing.
wich means prioritize grp members but check for overheals once your grp member would be overhealed an alliance member will be heald instead.
spelling and grammar errors are free to be abused

You are the medic, you gota run around to the injured warriors. You manage your magicka pool effectively, and keep a close eye on health bars.. That is smart healing.

What does this have to do with the topic?

Completely the opposite. I group quite often, and I'm surprised people are actually wanting heals just for the group. I don't understand why people think this issue is so one sided that it doesn't even need to be explained.

For zergball groups, a lot of healing is location based which will hit the entire group and not some random dude. Also, zergballs are clumped together, so single target DPS from enemies is going to be spread more throughout the group instead of focused on one person. This is easier to mitigate with shields and area heals.

For spread out situations, we can bring in the faction vs faction argument. Just because some noob is fighting alongside you doesn't mean that they shouldn't be getting your heals. If you are healing someone outside your group, it means that person is actually drawing attention and damage away from the group.

If someone in your group dies because your healing went to some non-group member, it means you do not have enough coordination or leadership to sustain the group. You need to correctly use synergies and area based heals.

I hate the "smart" heals altogether. I much prefer the targeted-area or front-conal type spells that actually require some player intent and skill.

I don't think it makes sense that a healer just has to stand in the back and spam one button and be effective. I think the player should have to perform and show some finesse. There are plenty of spells that require this, but they are overshadowed by stupid spells like Mutagen and Breath of Life.
