Alchemy Update/Upgrade?

First off if there is an article similar to this I apologize in advance I tired to look for one with no success.
I have always been a big alchemy fan but, I feel like it has been neglected compared to other crafts. Some things I have noticed are certain ingredients have only negative effects. Will Poisons be implemented to make use of these ingredients or are they just fluff? More ingredients would also be nice as well for more combinations. Piggybacking on that a nice feature would be to have some more powerful potions but they have a negative effect attached to them. For example maybe a big magicka potion that refills your magicka by 750 but cuts into your health by 300. Also my last thing is why does alchemy get the shaft for not having a hireling?

Thanks for reading this and hopefully all you other alchemy aficionados out there comment on this and help make some alchemy upgrades.

Thanks,
The Shwartz

I think they will be doing poisons eventually but not sure. There does seem to be a huge disparity in the usefulness of ingredients. 4-5 mats are super expensive, the rest seem to equate to vendor trash.

I think alchemy would be helped if it was easier to switch between potions during combat. If you could do so, you'd have more interest in a range of specialist potions for different combat situations.

For switching potions this works well:

    http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info258-GreymindQuickSlotBar.html

I just use the keys. I have 2, 3 and 4 bound to slot 1, 2 and 3 in the quickslot wheel. I hit one of those to switch the potion, then Q to use.

Also, linking the image and name of the potion to what it actually does. Having 3 red potions in the Quickslots that are all red, but some give additional magicka and/or stamina and yet there is no way to tell at all so I have to remember where I slotted each at the beginning.

If they could colour band a potion with its respective effects e.g. if you have a potion that gives more health than magicka then it would have just over half red and then have a thinner band of blue. Perhaps a yellow strip for Spell Crit etc. or use the alternative shaped bottle.

I would love the names to be more flexible too, but this could make it difficult for those making potions to sell on the market where names need to be constant.

If you really can't remember where you put 3 things then you have other problems.

I put the Health on the 1 slot, attack on the 2 slot and escape on the 3 slot. Looking at them is something I never do. Who has time?

I think this is one of the reasons ESO hasn't bothered improving Alchemy yet, they know it's too much of a pain to use the "Quickslot" bar during combat. As a Master Alchemist, I would love to see some of the potions and poisons we were able to create like we had in Skyrim.

Even if we forget about the poisons though, there are a bunch of ingredients with mostly negitive effects and some with all negitive effects that are currently useless. They could make more ingredients available for more combinations or introduce new positive effects. I still hope there will be poison potions though eventually. I would love to see plants that boost specific elemental resistance fire, ice, etc.
Again though please comment if you would like to see changes in alchemy. The more posts the are the more likely something might get noticed and changed

Implementing poisons has definitely been mentioned by a dev. ("Once poisons are implemented, then..."). I expect this to happen at the time dark brotherhood and thieves guild are introduced into the game.

Luckily i do not have this problem :) I have 4 potions on the quickbar and each is of a different color:

1, red - classic tristat (trying to use this as little as possible)
    2, blue - detection/mana/spellpower (for catching stealthers)
3, yellow - weapon power/weapon crit/stamina (most used, since im stamina build)
    4, green - speed/weapon power/stamina (for catching runners)
