Considering that these are mainly single targeted effected enemies and self buffs only good against normal mobs, as alot of the slightly more difficult creatures,NOT including bosses, are immune to status effects , which is where the Nightblade does more damage, dosn't make the Nightblade class at dealing with groups mobs as effecient as the other classes . As for soloing multiple mobs makes this class very difficult to play .

Summon Shade is pretty much a useless Summon , the damage from the shade is very low , 15% miss chance for 4 sec . The morphs are even more usless as the shades do very little damage . This Skill needs a major change inline with the DPS of the Sorcerers Unstable Clannfear , and an added stam AOE Buff like the Summon Winged Twilight magicka AOE regen and /or heal + extra damage .

The Nightblade needs more AOE Damage and AOE Debuffs and Buffs for dealing with mobs and for group content to be inline with the other classes .

As a single target assasin the Nightblade is awsome unless its against a slightly more difficult creature , (not a boss) thats immune to all status effects.

The Nightblade IMO is the hardest of all the classes to play , I only compared the skills of the classes , as for weapons , armour , potions , upcoming Champion System etc are usable and changable for all classes ,and dosnt reflect the class skills I was trying to compare .

I have a difficult time relying on class skills to kill world bosses if they can't be stunned. If they can be stunned though it's a cake walk. My biggest grip with NB is our lack of defense and the fact we can't DoT's with Shadow Cloak. I feel like we really need a good temp buff for defense in line with Lightning Form or Spiked Armor. Really it would be nice if they just increased the duration of shadow barrier to 20 seconds like Spiked Armor and give a visual clue when it's active instead of that stupid clinking sound.

Veil of Blades Ultimate (not) Bolstering Darkness + Power Extraction/Sap Essence + AOE from Weapon of choice = group of everything dead. Gives you 2 spots left for utility, you're welcome.

Yes, NB's are low in the AOE department but that's because we have the best AOE Ultimate in the game that if you do it right can have almost 100% uptime, with enough enemies.

Oh god that stupid clinking sound they added lol. As for a temporary +armor/spell resist ability we have access to Immovable in the Heavy Armor tree (VERY nice skill), Annulment in the Light Armor tree (good skill, but Magic only), and Circle of Protection in the Fighter's Guild tree (decent if stationary, really nice against Undead/Daedra). There's more in Alliance War > Support but those are situational and group oriented, plus one's an Ultimate.

I can't go with ya on Shadow Barrier lasting longer since it costs nothing and it would be a tad unfair for NB's to have a near perma, almost hard capped Resists/Armor if we could keep that thing up for long periods, then just Cloak to get it back up for another long period.

two things i wish NBs had:

one. instant self heal. HoTs are not much use unless they heal a crap ton
    two: our own damage shield

there are some worthless skills that could be completly replaced with a damage shield. every other class gets one, why cant the NB have one? and no, i dont mean the damage sheild from annulment, i mean a class specific damage shield.

Yes, NB's are low in the AOE department but that's because we have the best AOE Ultimate in the game that if you do it right can have almost 100% uptime, with enough enemies.

I would take a nerf on Viel of Blades AOE damage in trade for more AOE abilities , AOE damage from active skills , AOE buffs and debuffs , The Dragon Knight , Templar , and Sorcerer all have more AOE damage ,Buffs and debuffs and regens then the Night Blade .

NB has the BEST regen ability in the game, Siphoning Strikes > morph of choice. We also have the highest capable Weapon Dmg buff (although it's self only) with Drain Power > Power Extraction, as long as there's enough enemies. As for debuffs we are limited but many overlook Summon Shade > Dark Shades which adds a -30% damage debuff to the enemy you're attacking. That as well as Aspect of Terror > Mass Hysteria, although that is very situational and extremely short duration. Lastly there's Blur > morph of choice which adds a chance to miss to the enemy. This one is difficult to gauge in usefulness because any time you Dodge or the enemy misses you gain no Ultimate, which for a tank isn't a great idea.

For AOE as a caster NB I literally only use Volcanic Rune for it's CC, Impulse and Sap Essence (Power Extraction would be superior if you had a dedicated Healer). What more do we need besides that? I mow through Public dungeons solo without ever dying.

And I'm sure there are many NB's out there, me included, that would curse you if ZoS nerfed VoB considering it is our strongest single ability, just to add more AOE. Now, I won't argue that having more AOE in our Class trees would be nice but personally, I'd rather more AOE CC than AOE damage. Long and the short of it, all Classes have strengths and weaknesses, NB has a pretty good setup as it is now that Zos has most of the problems fixed.

who in the name of talos uses Blur? its garbage!!!
only 15% dodge chance?? maybe if you used it with evasion it would have an impact.

i think blur should just be scraped and replaced with something far more useful. maybe a damage shield ability, like the other 3 classes have?

i have tried shades.. and i just dont see how NBs seem to like them so much:( it would help with the block and casters(and it does) but im sacrificing a damage ability for it, and i already sacrificed an ability for sparks. seems like its just a me thing though, so i wont down talk the ability.

You use a caster NB with impulse? alright.... you should try mowing through public dungeons with a non-caster NB. Then you may see what many NBs complain about nowadays. The best my VR13 NB can do in a public dungoen is cloak thru it. i cant take on groups of enemies due to my severe lack of decent AOE:(

Well , true that , not many players say nerf me and now that I said it ZoS could nerf it and thank me for the great idea :\ .
However after watching this video QuakeCon: The Future of ESO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aYbl5B8R9-E
Makes me wonder if we both will have the ability to mix match the skills a bit with the points system that was talked about in the upcoming Champions system @ 43:02 Champion System in the video .

I was 100% Stamina Bow/Dual Wield up until VR6 and I could mow through Public Delves solo then too, just not quite as fast as a Caster NB using Impulse/Sap Essence. This was up to the day Craglorn launched so well before any of the NB abilities were fixed or Public Delves nerfed. The way I did is was a little odd though, I was a ST Bow build and would pick out the Healer or Fire caster in the group of 6 and 2-shot them then dance around killing enemies one at a time while avoiding frontal cones, aoe and blocking/interrupting heavy attacks so I know it can be done.

Yeah I've watched the full video and I think you misunderstand the Champion system a little bit. From everything I've read/watched it's going to be nothing more than a way to tweak our builds 0.5% per point, or something like that. Paul Sage shows one example where he dumped like 9 points into Fire Resistance and still only had 3.5% or something low like that. I'd also wager it'll have a low cap, maybe between 5-10%. All of the examples he showed were just to increase the usefulness of the build you currently play.

Spellcrafting however, THAT might be what you're thinking about and I totally agree that if it's as well designed as what they have showed then pretty much current Class abilities may be a thing of the past. Not that they will remove them but that every player will be able to specifically tune their build to the exact playstyle they love or the enemy they're facing, etc.

Interesting I didn't know that the 2 shades -15% mischance debuff stacked to -30% .
I would rather have the summon shade more built similar to the sorcerers summons with stam regens more dps and or debuff skills ,
I haven't been using any addons so I'm sure I've been missing a lot the things that don't show without them . That being said I've tried the summon shade and blur and sparks and still was hit very hard and killed very quickly by the goblins in Mudtree Village , I know your supposed to use the food to distract them so you can walk around them without getting attacked . They show as normal mobs but hit like a truck , throw daggers hitting me with 450+ and average attacks hitting me for 250 V3 goblins I'm using blue armour purple weapons . My armour was fully restored and it was 5 med 2 heavy . Since I wasn't using an addon I couldn't see if the miss-chance buffs were working as intented or if they stacked . I'll have to get and use an addon to better examine the game mechanics .
Now I was playing beta Imperial Nightblade and at the time I wasn't having any issues with the build I was killing mobs fast and was progressing through the game fine in beta , It was when the game went live that I seen a change , I made an Imperial DK and died in intro ,deleted that , made an Imperial sorcerer died again in intro , deleted that , made an Imperial Templar and died again in intro , I thought WTH did zeni do to the mobs !!! I made a Nightblade and made it through the intro although I still noticed that compared to beta I was still struggling . I wondered if it was the Imperial race that was messed up after the live release . But then I was hearing many others at the time having issues using the Nightblade as-well . I have since made a Dark elf -sorcerer and an Argonian -Templar and they have been a pleasure to play , I just made a Dark elf DK and went through a few levels again with no issues , That being said I grouped once with a armourless DK in a vet run and asked why hes wasn't wearing armour and his response was he needed the challenge .
I have yet to remake a Nightblade with a different race and see if its an Imperial Nightblade bug that seems to make my character more squishy then the others I have built . Still playing the Nightblade compared to the other classes is IMO has been a lot harder to solo though the game with . And if i was to only rely on a couple skills and a particular weapon only as a build to get me through the mobs then that would be kind of sad and boring . Not as versatile as the other classes that I have played .

Considering races , Wasn't the Imperial Race supposed to have better luck ? Since the last patch I've done several surveys and haven't received 1 nirn out of the that last 10 surveys I have done , I am really starting to think my Imperial Nightblade is cursed :| .

The main comparison with this post I made, was based on class skills only ,level 1, no weapons ,no armour , no other abilities from mages , fighters, undaunted etc as all classes can access these and get the added benefits from them .

I can't answer that because my VR10 with all crafting at level 50 NEVER got a single Survey Report after doing the Crafting Writs for several days while my low level characters that none are level 50 Crafting got Survey Reports about 65% of the time, so I quit doing them on my main. My main is a Wood Elf, not that it should matter with Survey Report luck. However my bad luck with RNG is legendary so I'll chock it up to that lol.

Dont touch VOB - Do not suggest any more messing around with stuff to them. All I feel NB has received since launch is nerfs. Sneak damage nerf, resto staff nerf, Soul Tether nerf because it actually killed people like dk standard.

Just stop talking because it'll end up with us less powerful as usual

I just tried a combat log addon to test the Blur and shadow skills for misschance , against a mudcrab level 37 , I using my Vet NB . I had no armour no weapon just used those 2 skills and blocking and fists for weapons . The combat logged never showed that the mudcrab missed , not once . Maybe it was the combat log not reporting the misschances or maybe the mudcrab has OP attacks . The combat log did show the entire battle , blocks, the damage done from the shade , my fist attacks ,the mudcraps awesome attacks , just never a miss from the mudcrab .

I myself have never used Blur and I've heard it doesn't work right but I have used Shades and I can say they DO make a difference in the damage you receive. Sure it's a utility thing and situational at best, but not a bad thing to have on your alt/utility bar for solo'ing or tanking.

NB skills are basically fine. Yeah a self heal would be nice, something similar to what the sorc has perhaps. Go invisible for 3 seconds and heal, but you're rooted. Something like that. I don't really care about a damage shield. i can use healing ward or ward ally if I want or use cloak to just disappear and regain some control of the fight or run for my life.

I'd be more happy if they simply fixed the skills.

I use crippling grasp all the time and am convinced it does not give me any sort of speed bonus. I was using the other day while running from a blue zerg. I cast the skill on some and kept running and was running no faster than anyone around me. No one else had any speed buffs, they were all running normal speed, including me (even after using crippling grasp, and no it was blocked or reflected). It also needs to add a snare to the enemy because at the moment it doesn't.

Mass hysteria is an amazing skill but I am pretty sure 99% of the time the person is never snared. I haven't versified if the damage buff is sticking or not.

Cloak is still screwed up. It constantly breaks on damage (especially from sorcs single target DPS skills). I even had a NB use ambush while I was already 2 seconds into my stealth. No way he should of been able to target me. No mark on me or anything he just was able to target me. I also notice some people are able to just follow you in very unnatural ways. I don't ever just run in a straight line after cloaking because your direction is obvious. But I have had people follow me around all sorts of twists and turns meaning they had me tab targeted and cloak is getting rid of it while cloaked. AKA, it's broken. It could be lag, where as the person targeted me before the cloak but that still means that after cloaking it should miss regardless.

Other than that the skills aren't bad at all. Just need ZoS attention as usual.

Crippling Grasp is part of my ST rotation in PvE and for me at least I know it works. The enemy is rooted (one's that aren't immune to CC) and I do see the speed increase while the target is effected by it. It could be that for you it's bugged kind of like Unnatural Resistance in Vampire for me is bugged but for others it works fine.

Yeah they definitely are immobilized. I just don't see a speed increase for some reason, at least not in PvP. I do wish it added a snare to it.

I don't think the shades stack the debuff to 30%. It's also a guaranteed 15% damage reduction rather than miss chance.

I have noticed a sudden change in the way my character is performing , although I haven't found a combat log addon that says when a target has missed their attack on me , I have noticed that they have missed while melee attacking me . Ive also noticed a change in the last patch ( 1.5.6 ) with my NB ,even though there wasn't any write up about the NB skills change in anyway ,maybe the dev's tweaked my character IDK . What I do know is that my Nightblade seems to be working much better , I haven't changed much of what I was doing except I dropped the med armour and am using light . So what ever happened Thanks a bunch for the tweak :)
