Tanking not working post-update 5

I am now a VR10 Breton Templar in full blue VR10 tanking or healing gear. I have done all the content up to Shadowfen, and I mean all of it. I have tanked and healed most normal and veteran dungeons. I have been tanking dungeons since about level 30. I have tanked or healed most veteran dungeons including some in Craglorn.

I have never had a problem tanking veteran dungeons. However, after update 5, nothing is working for me. I cant hold agro on bosses anymore. I cant seem to gain agro on groups of mobs in a vet dungeon like I could before. I haven't finished even one undaunted pledge as a tank. Tanking is no longer working for me. I don't know if its a Templar issue, or a game issue. I have heard all sorts of theories. All I know is that dungeons I used to tank with ease have turned into endless wipe and failure since update 5.

It is too late for me to level a DK tank far as I have my Templar. I am not interested in being lectured how to play my class or how to tank. I have always been told that I am a good Templar tank and healer. If I can no longer tank in ESO as a Templar, I am not interested in playing ESO. I don't want advice, I want to know what the issue is, if and when it is going to be fixed.

I am a DK Tank. I don't think the issue is isolated to Templars. My group cleared DSA Vet and while doing so I noticed that very often my taunts would break off the bosses/mobs for no reason. I have not noticed really anything else but I am convinced that both inner beast and puncture are not quite working correctly. I have heard there is an issue if you double taunt that sometimes it will break but after 1.5 I have literally pulled with a single taunt and it would work for about 4 seconds before the boss would just switch targets. I don't know what is causing it but the group that I run with noticed the difference as well - "aggro" just seems to be different now.

In Hr yesterday as a nb dps I noticed my heavy attacks were pulling the boss agro on to myself far more than I have ever seen, two heavy attacks and the boss would basically run straight to me and pow, dead.

Something is broken since the last update, i am a VR14 DK Tank, i kept losing aggro in Banished Cells and my taunt would drop every few seconds. The bosses would get hit a couple of times by dps and charge right at them even after i had taunted them. I have also seen people in game talking about this issue so my guess is something got messed up last patch.

You couldnt have remotely searched the forums first? there are alreardy a couple of threads regarding this. even with solutions of how you can make it work again..

Its not, remember that bosses because immune to taunt if you use it 3 times in a 10 second period.

i have noticed something.... odd today while doing the first 3 dungeons.

our tank had a very hard time holding aggro on anything. the thing is... she was using the taunt skill in the shield line. yet it still would not let her keep the bosses aggroed(not without a fight anyway)

idk if its because the taunt may have expired, but it did not seem right. i have done every single dungeon save vet city of ash(cannot find a freaking group to do it. curse you useless group finder!!!), and i have seen both good and bad tanks. This occasion was not because she was a bad tank, it just did not want to let her keep the aggro without taunting the enemies a ridiculous number of times.

thats my experience with it. it may just be coincidence. but something could be up. would not be a surprise.

it cant just be as simple as that if people are suddenly saying its broken.

if not understanding the mechanic was the case, this would have been brought up quite some time ago

From what I understand there was a problem with inner fire before the hotfix, after testing inner fire is indeed still "broken". But it's highly manageable as the hotfix did fix the random dropping, but the skill still isn't going the full duration consistantly.

Basically you have to taunt more often without over taunting (3times within 10 seconds).

I always ran both taunts for most dungeons/all trials. I still do, but in the meantime I am relying on puncture a lot more just to avoid having to pay extra attention to innerfire.

This should be fixed soon, I would count on it.

The real thing you should worry about with tanking now is block latency. After 1.5 many players have been receiving extraordinary amount of ping/latency/lag (not to be confused FPS or anything or your systems end).

Because of this in some cases you will be hit through block while your holding block, while your character looks like they're blocking and for all reasonable assumption IS blocking.

But they're not. Block or "bracing" is essentially a push toggle. When the server isn't catching up to your actions do to the latency it assumes your not blocking. It doesn't know if your holding block when it can't receive the info in time.

With that said, I don't know when ping will be fixed. It's just gotten worse. I do hope something changes soon.
