Confused by Explanation

When morphing I have read the new power to the individual morph and then it says "Bonus does not apply to Solar Flare, Dark Flare, or Solar Barrage attacks". I am looking at the morphing of Solar Flare, so does that mean the morph does not work, or is there another bonus I am not seeing?
Very Confusing. I have seen this for other abilities also. Can anyone clarify or pint out what I am missing?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with Templars but some quick reading shed some light.

It says that the morph will add 50 spell and weapon power to the next attack....but it won't add this bonus to the attacks Solar Flare, Dark Flare, or Solar Barrage.

So in essence, use Solar Flare then use another attack--other than Solar Flare, Dark Flare, or Solar Barrage--for the bonus. Use the strongest attack that you have, except for the three listed exceptions.

Thanks for the reply. So it looks like it creates a combo.
    Thanks

No, it buffs anybody's next attack, not just the templar's.

It's very similar to the Martial Knowledge 5 piece in that it doesn't apply to the caster only, it applies to the next attack that lands.

With that said, Solar and Dark Flare's cast time and low damage aren't very good (you'll find that very quickly,) however Solar Barrage tied to Blazing Shield does pretty solid damage for a Tank Templar. I don't know many other tanks that can hold the sheer number of mobs that Templars can while tossing out heals, passively damaging via Blazing Shield, and also farting out AoE DPS via Solar Barrage.

I held about 650 DPS in Darkshade last night when started tanking and I spiked to 900 on the Netch Boss.

I play my templar as a caster and I find that to be totally untrue.

Solar flare + Sun Fire or a heavy attack is golden. At lower levels I go Dark Flare + Reflective Light for aoe damage and snare.

Against most small groups (2-3) of same level mobs you only need to cast that combo once or twice per fight, which only drains a small fraction of your total magicka.

They are certainly good enough to get by while levelling, but both fall short once you unlock superior abilities. Especially dark flare is just bad for sustained damage in pve. It would be perfect for a crystal fragments upgrade though.

Potentially. A problem I see is that it should hit harder or at least on par with Crushing Shock. But Backlash is the bigger culprit overall. It has so many bad drawbacks that it's almost laughable.

For soloing, by the way, or aoe grinding, or killing just about anything you need three things on your bar as a templar:

    Puncturing Sweep
    Rushed Ceremony
    Sun Shield

That's about it. I don't need to know about what's more interesting. I solo'd world bosses at rank 10 with that combo. And that's part of why the class is held back as a caster.

Thanks for the comments. What would be cool is if I could review this thread while I am in the game looking at my build. It would be nice if there was a window in the game to do that.
So your comments bring more questions, sorry:
How did you know you were doing that kind of damage? Is there an add-on that tells you this?
I am going to check out your suggestions, thanks again.

Upon further reading I am a bit confused on a few elements you guys spoke of, the elements I think are a bit above me as I have not unlocked them yet. But we will see what the future brings.
