Changing classes, want it? Need it?

I'd like the option to change my characters class, and am curious why we are so bound to the class we initially choose.

A class respec would be hot, perhaps for a silly amount of gold? (50k or such?)
The new skills would have to be learned, trained from start making the first time perhaps a bit of a challenge.

On the other hand, it would allow us to fully explore the game with a single main character, much more freedom to experiment, and would greatly lessen the frustration of x-class is better then mine.

Not to mention, as the game evolves, classes might be added, and people would want to change into those.

Or perhaps aspects of a class become less enjoyable for someone (an essential skill is changed), and they wish to play another class without having to give up all their progress, retrain all their skills and everything.

There are ways to prevent people from hopping class at the drop of a hat, with cooldowns (which could last up to 3 months) or by making it a money sink (which is good for the economy)

All in all, the option to change class would greatly enhance my gameplay.
Am I the only one who feels like this?

Totally want it. Having classes is so unnatural for a TES game. Besides, they can't balance them and it's not players' fault that classes we chose are not where we hoped they would be. So let us switch classes.

p.s. I really hope there will be no new classes (they can't even balance existing ones). There should be more skill lines available for everyone, though.

So if this was a thing we would have even more sorcerers then we already have..bad idea IMO.

    And Dragonknights, too.
Bobbity Boop, this game might become poop, but I'll still play because I'm just a pile of goop!

They should never have put in classes. They should have only ever put in skill lines.

I have a feeling that when spellcrafting becomes a real thing, you won't even see DK's using class skills anymore.

I do hope spellcrafting will finally end the class division , but i doubt it.

Was actually just thinking about this. Make it require Veteran Rank, or something, and cost a silly amount of gold. Something that only an end game player would really do. Having to train all the skill lines from level 1 would actually be pretty neat, as well,.

I would have loved to do that. I played through the normal campaign on a DK first, but by the time he hit VR levels the gameplay was becoming quite repetitive, so instead of doing the VR campaign I just rolled a NB and a Templar after that. I would have much preferred to just swap classes and roll on with the same character though.

Any mmo that offers a class change option is a failed mmo imo. It is lazy development and an admittance by the developer that they lack the ability to add functional content through out the leveling process. It is a tool for top heavy, themepark mmo development which is a sign that the mmo is failing much like like how a star goes red nearing the end of it's life cycle.

IF they did it this way you'd see every Tom *** and Harry with every skill maxed, rolling everything thrown at them.

Classes make the game difficult, if you want to "I win the game" like every other TES game out there by maxing out all your skills and roflstomping through Tamriel, go back and play the single player TES games.

Why do you think that you are better than me? I play the same sub fee. Why if you were lucky to guess the class that will be "roflstomping through Tamriel" you can proceed and if I picked the weaker class - I need to go back and play the single-player games?

It is not my fault that the classes are not balanced. Why should I be punished? It's ZOS whose problem it should be. If everyone rolls one class - they will finally see that something is wrong and will change it. On top of that, if everyone is OP then NO ONE IS! And no one will be roflstomping through Tamriel, because they will encounter other roflstompers, don't you get it?

p.s. it's not even that much about being OP as about what a certain class can do in a certain player's hands. When I created a class, how was I supposed to know that another class will be able to perform tasks that I want to perform better than the class I picked? Should I be forced to level alts? That's exactly why I went for a game that positions itself as TES successor. In TES games never have I ever leveled an alt to try other skills and figure out which way of playing and the way it's realized and balanced in the game I like most. I would only create alts if I wanted to chose different organizations and see how that would affect the world (e.g. stormcloaks - imperials).

I would also very much like this option myself. These characters we level are a large investment of our time, time that we're paying for mind you. I would have no issue having to level up the new skill lines from scratch just as any character would. The issue that I have isn't about being a god or anything as silly as that, my issue is that I only have so much time in a day and repeating the same content over and over ruins the story of the game. We can hope that down the line there will be much more content but until that is the case I would like the option to change my character's class.

The other option I see is to allow players the option to swap out a skill bar from another class. It would be interesting to see all the true hybrid classes created. This would be something I wouldn't make possible until you had at least hit veteran rank.
