What is the stat cap? and how should I be spending my attribute points for sorc?

Hi everyone, first post new to the game...

First question: what is the stat cap?

And on to my second question: How should i be spending my attribute points for sorc?

I have been reading on the Internets about this and read the magicka cap is reached easy and to put all in to health? but most of the Internet posts i have been reading seem to be from 6+ months ago

You can go like 10 to magicka and rest to health. Some go all health.

There is an addon at ESOIU that will show you all the soft caps for stats/armor/crit etc. Check that out. It's really helped me get an idea of what I'm doing. I've noticed each class gains inherent bonuses differently to hp/magicka/stamina and that the points you put into it don't change it all that much. As an example; I recently took down 3 pts from my stamina and put them into my magicka and didn't notice it hampering my rolling or anything much at all.
