I hope this was just PTS problem not a problem that will occur when this goes LIVE. If its just PTS the only impact on me is i will test less PTS. If it happens during my next major update when this goes live ... i am going to be majorly upset.
I lost all my preference including:
-video
-sound
-key board
-gameplay
-interface
-add ons
Every major update i lose most if not all my addon settings also. I used my old backups and replaced all accountID's "" (nul) with MY accountID, and got all but outfitter back. i back them up weekly but for the live 1.3 i had to redo all my outfitter sets. (that is a pain in butt).
Losing ESO preferences is unacceptable. Also ESO gives u no option of which are account wide settings and which are char settings SO every player who has alts often needs to repeat there fav settings for each alt. If i need to redo my keyboard assignments for every update, i don't want half the updates. 1.3 was the first update that had more plus's for me than negatives anyway.
Losing the addon settings occasionally is ok, but not every update. At some point they need to fix this. For me it is not as simple as play new update, exit game, drop in old backed up addon setting then everything is fine. (which I should NOT need to do any way ... it SHOULD NOT reset my addons by default)
i had actually had to open all the addon savevar files i cared about, see what changed and decide what to edit to get it to even work. then do permutations of this dropping in the good add on setting when playing - reload ui - try loging out drop in good setting .. reload ui till i got to work. ( i had to look up when eso saves ur add on preferences and when it loads them to get to it to work ..... I know they say they dont support addons but this game has a marginal UI, lots of features missing so the a blanket we dont support ANY addons is unacceptable. yes certain addons will all ways problematic and AP updates will occur, but the game should work with well written addons.
