Possible issues with DW / Bow / Nightblade / Torug's Pact Set Bonus / Other Combat Issues

Hello All,

This is my first time starting a post and bearing in mind that English is not my first language, I hope you can forgive me for any grammatical errors.

I have been playing ESO since BETA and noticed a few outstanding issues that await a fix from ZOS (or have yet to be noticed by the game developers). So I hope with this thread, other players can confirm my findings and contribute to this thread in a constructive manner.

Dual Wield Enchant Proc Rate:

Read from other threads and confirmed with self testing that enchant procs occur every 6 seconds and the Powered Trait reduces this to about 3 seconds.
I enchanted both VR12 daggers with VR12 Legendary quality "Unresistable damage" enchants and discovered that enchantment procs DID NOT occur as expected and instead occurred every 4-5 seconds on average.

This may have been a misunderstanding on my part and similar enchants perhaps shared the same cooldown duration. Therefore, I enchanted one of the daggers with a VR12 Legendary "Poison damage" enchant resulting in two different enchants on each dagger.

After a sample of 60 - 70 hits using light, heavy attacks as well as weapon ability (namely "Flying Blade"), the enchant procs occurred more often, approximately once every 3 seconds but not evenly. On average, out of ten Poison damage procs occurring, only two would be Unresistable damage. Shouldn't the two different enchants proc occur at roughly equal chance and frequency?

Torug's Pact Set Bonus:

Crafted a complete VR12 Torug's Pact set (legendary quality on all pieces).

Tested "Unresistable damage" VR12 legendary enchant + Powered Trait on Bow of Torug's Pact (which further reduces proc by another 1 second, and increases enchantment potency by 30%). So in theory, this should result in proc damage occurring every two seconds with the complete set equipped.

After a sample of 30 - 40 shots from the bow, enchant proc occurred on average, every 4 seconds and not every two seconds as theorized above. It seems that the stated reduction by 1 second of enchantment cooldown did not happen, or the Powered Trait was not functioning.

The stated increase of 30% enchantment potency from Torug's Pact fifth Set bonus was non-existent (unresistable damage enchant value remained at 36 dmg instead of 36dmg + 30% of that value). This leads me to conclude somehow, that ZOS needs to take a look and test whether the above findings are in need of further fixing.

Piercing Mark:

Both in PVE and PVP, there have been instances where the animation would happen but the effect was not applied to the target, hence having to do this two or three times before the Mark was applied. In fast paced PVP skirmishes, this is a serious disadvantage for Nightblades. In addition, there have also been relatively rare instances whereby Marked Targets could not be attacked by Class Skills / Weapon Skills and therefore have to be attacked using normal light / heavy attacks.

Concealed Weapon:

Skill states a passive speed bonus of 25% while in stealth. I discovered this was not always the case and I had to break stealth and re-enter it for this to function properly for a certain period of time before the passive bonus disappears again. Was this intentional so we have to break stealth every once in a while to maintain this passive bonus, or is this something that ZOS is still looking into?

Caltrops:

Something to do (again) with stealth. Whenever I deploy caltrops and enemies walk into this area / incur damage from this, I immediately break stealth even though I am completely hidden and not moving.
For example, I am hidden on top of a keep's outer wall and deploy caltrops outside the walls and return to my hidden state. Enemies walk into this area and all of a sudden I am no longer hidden when they incur damage from the caltrops. Bear in mind that I was merely watching and did not attack or break stealth intentionally. I believe this still needs to be looked into.

Multiple Instant Damage from Enemy Skills:

In PVP I have come across enemies that are able to unleash multiple Class Skills within a very short time frame (example: 5 Class Skills hitting me simultaneously within ONE SECOND from a single enemy player and killing me on the spot before I realize I was attacked in the first place). I am not sure if they are using some sort of hack / exploit. I pondered upon the possibility of my internet connection being unstable (lag client side) but this is unlikely because other players around me were moving and fighting normally.

I would appreciate it if others could comment on the above and hopefully someone from ZOS takes notice so we can all contribute to making ESO better and better for everyone. Thank you and I look forward to your comments.

    Torugs Pact
I have Torugs Pact and a 2handed axe with the trait that further reduces cooldown by 45%. My disease enchant procs on nearly every light attack I do (I do light attack weaving/animation cancelling) so it procs at least every 2 seconds.
It might be different for other weapon combos but it works for my 2hander.

    Instant Damage
Even while exploiting the animation cancelling you shouldnt be able to do 5 skills within a second. This is most likely someone using a hack.

Basically, the game is broken, you can chain skills and attacks and break the animations, but still get the attack to fire and do damage. What you are likely seeing is when they use a marco keyboard so that they can do all those attacks with pin point timing with a single keypress.

Yes it's lame, yes the fact that ZOS didn't see it coming is crazy (many of us could have told them, it's not the first MMO to suffer a bad combat engine and allow animation cancelling), yes they are bad and taking the "win at any cost" view of a roleplay game, but that's MMO players for you.

Right now, I don't see this going away I'm afraid.

It is also possible you are just seeing PVP lag or maybe a bit of both, but you can often tell the macro hits from lag when you know what you're looking for.

@Galrukh ... good to know the enchant procs are more reliable for your 2handed axe ... Regarding the instant damage I am hoping ZOS are able to eliminate / limit such hacks because it is destroying the game for players who fight fair and seek a challenge when it comes to gaming skill.

@Tarkit ... it seems to be the case for dual wield enchants and I have yet to come across any player who states that their dual wield enchants are working as intended / expected, could it be possible that procs occur in a somewhat random mechanism? I did more tests on dual wield attacks and can confirm that the poison enchant on one dagger procs at least 3 times more frequently than the unresistable enchant on the other dagger. On one occasion, the poison enchant proc occurred 12 times before the unresistable damage enchant proc appeared. Hope others can contribute to this thread and help clear some confusion.

@CapuchinSeven‌ ... thank you for explaining this to us, did not expect chain skills and attacks via macro to have such an effect in game. I'm an "old-school" type of player myself that enjoys playing the game with "skill" instead of using macros ... so I guess I will just have to keep my fingers crossed in the hope that ZOS considers a fix for this in future.

Which enchant is on your main-hand dagger? Or have you changed the daggers around and got the same result?

Also, have you tested each dagger by itself? If so, do they proc at about equal rates?

@McDonuts‌ ... I just did a series of tests and discovered rather surprising (but consistent) results ... previously the Poison enchant was on main hand and Unresistable dmg enchant on the Off hand ... switched this around and recorded that Unresistable dmg on main hand proc occurred 43 times, with the Poison dmg on off hand proc occurred 87 times ... this is roughly a 1:2 ratio.

However, I felt that the weapon proc did not occur as often compared to the previous configuration (Poison enchant on main hand with Unresistable dmg enchant on off hand) ...

I have not tested each dagger separately by themselves, nor with other types of enchants. Which leads me to question as follows:

    (1) Do weapon enchants on main hand vs off hand proc at different rates?

    (2) Do all enchants proc as frequently or some occur more often than others?

Would appreciate if others could comment and share their findings so we can all be more well informed when selecting weapons placement and enchants.

    Thank you.
