Hello there. My account expired at May and i didnt renew. Is it possible to enter pts and check the state of the game?

Nope. Not sure why you think you'd be able to. If you aren't paying for the game, you don't get to test future updates.

Have to have a subscription to get access to the game in any form/version from the company.

The OP has a very good question.

My opinion: I believe those who had a prior account (that was not banned, etc) *should* be allowed to receive a free 7 day pass, via email, to use for each new major version change to the PTS.
This would allow ZOS to get the opinions of those they want to win back most.

And yes, for those who may ask, I am currently subscribed.
I do still believe this would be a good addition, potentially bringing back many of those who unsubbed.

Depends on the game company, Blizzard Entertainment for example let's people with expired subscriptions play on WoW test servers, including their closed betas if they happen to get an invite or key in a giveaway, knowing full well when the testing phase is over, it all gets wiped anyway. Plus it gets them additional feedback from a wider audience of players as not everyone is going to jump into the test servers. It can also get some players to come back if they get a glimpse of what is to come in the next content patch. Obviously they won't take every comment seriously and look at things with a broader perspective.

I'm curious how you can still use the forums. I let my sub lapse once and wasn't able to access the forums about 24 hours after the sub expired. Even after I renewed my sub I had to submit a ticket before I had forum access again.

You have to be careful about how much free game time you give people because then others who are paying for the game will start complaining.

That said, I wouldn't be opposed to ZOS occasionally giving past subscribers a weekend pass so they can try out the changes to the game. It could potentially get players back in the game who might not have considered returning. I think it would simply be better to offer it on the live server rather than the PTS so that the returning player begins to re-invest in progressing their main character.

I am sure we will see "free weekend" events for everyone at some point...but my feeling is if you had unsubbed this soon you're not really going to be a thriving member of the community anyway...even if free testing comes along...there is a higher chance you will unsubbed again after a few weeks. To get opinions of non supportive members really doesn't she'd much light into future plans IMO

Hi there back, your account couldn't possible expire on May and still have access to the forums, you mean you cancel on May out of a 3 month sub? IF the answer is no, then your forum access needs to be remove asap as you don't have a current account.

I wouldn't mind seeing a lottery system for cancelled subs and PTS. :) Even players that play n pay might need to have their sub lapse for financial reasons for a bit.

Give X number of people in the system a key to play on PTS for a weekend or something. Those that really aren't interested in the game anymore won't play and those that might be interested in coming back would.

The chances of someone winning that lottery would be fairly slim. Maybe twice a year or so.

Or just have free weekends every once in a while for PTS. I think that would be fine even as a paying customer. Especially when they get the copy-to-test system up and running.
why should they get a 7 day pass when I'm paying a subscription for a game? this doesn't make sense.

Would you really be interested in playing a new character for 7 days if it meant you couldn't access any of your current ones? It would be like running a tutorial over and over...

if they have a free week or weekend of game time, each and every subscriber that pay to play a game should have it too.

if by giving a free weekend to not current subscriber you would add that weekend of game time to current subscriber then i think its fair.

I'm paying for a service and they aren't, there is no discussion id the "free weekend "is not for everyone

Yeah, you do pay for a service. The ability to not have your characters reset to 0 every week.

Free weekends would be with start from scratch characters since you don't have access to your maxed out live characters as a non payer. Get it?

You can freely log onto PTS right now for a week. No one is stopping you, but why you think that makes you entitled to a free week of play is beyond me.

You pay to play at the normal servers.

Why shouldn't they have a look only at the testserver for 7 days to return, if the like what they see there?

I think it makes sense to reactivate some players, with trials at the the testserver.
