Are Provisioning Hirelings now worth it for Vet levels?

In pre vet levels I never saw the need for provisioning hirelings as I was able to loot most of the stuff I needed. In vet levels I didn't even bother trying to loot provisioning items because I got mostly low tier ingredients.

Could someone let me know if three points in provisioning hirelings is now worth it, saving me time looting stuff and scouring the vet stores for ingredients? Do they also sometimes provide high level recipes? And are the vet loot tables now mostly vet level ingredients or still low level ingredients from the zone?

The main thing I'm wondering though is whether it's worth the three points in provisioning hirelings now. (I love my clothing hireling, wondering if his provisioning counterpart is similarly valuable now.

Thanks in advance anyone can let me know!

I heard that some items - like tomatoes - are hireling only. Perhaps not true, but that is the only reason I see to the hireling. I just tossed 3 points into it on one toon to try it out. So far I got 6 hops.

There are 2 items that only come from the Provisioning Hireling: Tomato & Oats.

Even if you do not have the recipes that require these items, it may be worth it to 2/3 the hireling in the hopes of getting these items so you can bank them for the future.

If you have extra Points, then go ahead and do 2/3 or 3/3.

If you do not have the extra points to spend, and you do not have recipes that require these items, then pass on putting points into the Hireling.

Never got a recipe from hireling. Yes to oats and tomatoes, seldom though. Mostly drink ingredients.

Yeah, save those oats and tomatoes from day 1. I've found that purple receipts are inferior to a blue receipt though. Prefer max. possible health and magic over health/magic/stamina food.

And because of that, oats aren't as important. Red Wheat is actually the rare one you need to keep an eye out for.

Moonlight Crew (RIP), Misfitz (RIP), Victorem Guild

VR16 NB, Stam build, Max all crafts.

Azuras & Trueflame. Mostly PvP, No alts.

Semi-retired till the lag is fixed.

Love the Packers, Bourbon, and ESO...one of those will eventually kill me.

Three skills points for a tomato, doesn't sound like a good investment to me.

Which is why I said that you should only consider getting the 2/3 or 3/3 hireling if you need those items, or you have extra skill points to play with.

But yes, I agree with you. At low levels, spending skill points in the Provisions Hireling is a waste. :)

Given you only need to spend 3 points I always unlock them as soon as I can, even if I only get a handful of purple and gold tempers it's worth it to me.

If provisioning hirelings delivered purple and good tempers, I'd have them. ;)

I get purples not infrequently, gold of course are rarer but not unknown. If you're able to log in twice a day then you can get two deliveries, so for the cost of 3 SPs I think it's well worth it.

My experience is that they give mats at the highest tier you have unlocked.

For example, my smith was parked a long time with only up to Ebony unlocked and that's what he got. I unlocked the Calcimium tier and lo and behold he started to get that. I unlocked all 9 tiers and now he gets 5 Voidstone a delivery.

Same happened on my clothier and woodworker.

I can definitely say the level of the mats is NOT related to character level, only mats from deconning seems tied to that.

You completely missed the point and the joke.

This topic is about *PROVISIONING* and whether *PROVISIONING HIRELINGS* are worth it.

Are oats and tomatoes equivalent to the golds received from other craft hirelings? I seriously doubt it. Especially with the completely *** mechanic of logging in twice a day for your 3 skill point investment.

Seems like an incentive to create a script to log your characters in every now and then when you are doing stuff like I don't know, sleeping and working.

PS: The materials you get from decon is based on the item you decon. Decon an ebony sword and you get ebony. Decon a calcinium sword and you get calcinium.

It all depends on how many extra points you have and your goals. I've sold tomatoes and oats for 1k gold each. You just need to decide if occasionally getting high value mats is worth the skill points.

None of the other crafts have materials that are only available via hirelings, do they?
