I wasted two points in Energized already, unfortunately without Critical Surge's profiting from its added damage. Do you know by any chance if improved healing from the warrior sign synergizes with this builds self-healing abilities?

that i am unsure of, couldn't find information on it, but Critical surge doesn't gain more damage from it, still handy for having tho since i also have a magicka set up on the side in case i get bored and want/need to go range since i had plenty of spare skill points, all i have to do then is change stats, CP and stone buff rather than all my skill points

i also have all the bonus damage from fighters but it's not NEEDED, just handy to have due to spare skill points

Reporting back from having played some more.
Mind you, I am only VR4, so I am running this build for PvE leveling.
The first thing that struck me instantly while questing was the single attack skill (Blinding Flurry). Seriously, spamming one skill all the time is not my definition of fun (even if it's interrupted by refreshing support skills like Critical Surge). Secondly, engaging combat hidden is too important for fighting efficiently. However, approaching every combat in a way so you may benefit from actually engaging stealthed takes way too much time. Taking into account that most fights during leveling are unintentional through drawing aggro of 2 or more mobs, you're caught off guard pretty much all the time, thus starting at a severe disadvantage, meaning longer fights than necessary. This just adds to the already huge amount of time needed in this game.
Don't take this personally, I've been playing with your "Dark Reaper" from 1-50, and enjoyed myself very much. But VR1-VR4 was just plain tedious "work". I guess, I am just sick of TESO by now. The mind-numbingly boring grind of the same fetch quests, and dungeon templates over, and over, and over again after completing the storyline is just too much for me. While the introduction of Champion Points was an incentive to pick up the game again, it was only a short-lived one. I MIGHT put up with the grind if there actually was ANYONE to play with, but regions are dead empty after the starting levels (1-20), and I don't have any MMO-playing friends.

So, again, do not take my developed gripes with the game personally. I just don't see myself doing the same things over, and over again for another 12 veteran ranks.

@phl0w To relieve the boredom of vr levelling I changed my entire build regularly so that I levelled all the skills lines and all the morphs. I also stopped reading or listening to the question text... after completing my own faction I felt little need or desire to know about the woes of the others. Finally I did some PvP and some pve in PVP to keep it interesting.

what Jar Ek said, i was also switching build up every now and then to keep it fresh, same skills over and over can be boring during leveling, trust me i feel ya, it's at the high end it becomes more interesting where you can pimp out gear propperly, get those big hits etc. thats when the real fun starts

Thats very similar to what my dual wield stam sorc would ahve looked like IF crit surge would still have worked with flurry after the update.
As for CP i wholeheatedly recommend trying out both Quick recovery from the lord and even blessed from the apprentice. With the lowe TTK of 1.7 health sustain has become quite important to win fights and just a few points into these passives can help quite a bit in stiking the balance where you outheal your opponents damage.

First of all: Thanks so much for taking my concerns seriously, and not flaming me as being a troll or whatever.
I've been playing ESO since Beta, and have paid quite a bit for subs over the month until it's gone free. So, not here to bash the game. On the contrary, trying hard to really like it.
You guys are amazing. By showing genuine interest in my concerns you made me re-download the game, and give the whole different-builds-approach a try. I was so frustrated, I uninstalled the game. Back to downloading what feels like a trillion GB ;-)

My quick venture into GW2 (2 days, level 40) kept things in perspective. What for the first like 20 levels felt like a fresh approach to questing was quickly debunked by me as yet another system relying on the same fetch quests, kill X, and escort missions based leveling as the rest out there. Nothing new there, then. With worse graphics, worse crafting, and worse dungeon play.

I'm actually looking forward to playing around with skills again, and switching to your Dark Reaper for endgame. Could use another free respec LOL.

    Cheers!

hey were all entitled to an opinion, as long as i can see it's of curiosity or jus a genuine responce i wont ignore it, trolls on forums are easy to spot with years of practice, glad to hear it tho, hope you get a good run this time, the questing can be boring sometimes but using 2-3 builds to see what you like most as well as it spicing up your play. you can get to max level in no time, and with exp required to level vet ranks shortened, should be easy to catch up :)

oh i survive quite a long time just with these setup alone, the healing from the drain and vigor combined make you last 1v1 for a long time minus those times someone abuses the broken time frame for wrecking blow spam where they can perma cc you of course

    What's changed?

Having fun leveling again. Switched to your "old" Reaper, with prison, and both blood craze+flurry as damage skills. Much easier time. However, I am under the impression that I run out of Stamina much faster than before the patch, and that my self-healing abilities aren't as effective. Have there been changes?

yeah surge no longer works on flurry so alot of the healing is lost, i'm actually having an easier time spamming heavy attacks over flurry, so well infact i'm thinking of giving an altered skill choice over flurry since Trap beast gives the 12% crit damage bonus buff, and with heavy attack spam it heals much harder then flurry ever did, even in pvp, in pve it allows me to root down melee fighters and tunnel down range, and since trap beast is rather cheap it allows me to keep them controlled.

prison is still handy but you have to dump a utility or nuke skill to get it going an sadly it grants root immunity, and since that for some reason prison also has a bugged area it sometimes misses targets completely and its a huge magicka dump which doesnt allow us to use drain or surge as often, nor mist for escaping.

blood carve is still ok but the healing is much lower than vigor could ever be, i'm out lasting fights by vigor alone, i tried both but i lose alot of damage having to target switch constantly to keep bleeds up from carve that fights even tho are more survivable, take far longer then needed, pvp included, so i find blood carve a sub for vigor rather then a better skill, untill it's buffed in direct damage of course, thats what carve/twin slashes lacks. bleeds are ignored when they have shields.

but anyways the trap beast thing is still an experiment, i'm surviving bigger packs using it but it can be risky if you trap the wrong mob since rangers arent impacted much by it and some melee can escape it, but it doesnt grant immunity to roots so it can be reappled throughout a fight and the crit damage buff even gets granted if the enemy is immune, helps make huge damage on bosses

    Also interested in your update.

Parked my DW Sorcerer, i.e. The Dark Reaper, at v5, and played my mag NB to v16. With all the changes to stamina builds, and in particular this build's skills, I always felt handicapped. My NB just breezed through Cadwell's Almanac from v1-v10, kiling large group of mobs with ease.
Really hope that stam Sorcerers will be viable again in DB. Looking forward to your update.

having fun testing the new changes so far and i can see stam sorc builds pulling forward quite abit, only bit i'm not enjoying so far is the loss of dark stalker if feeding but i am fighting to change the stage based passives before DB goes live, once it's live the changes are set in stone and i can update the guide accordingly :)

with the new rework to many abilities and sets as well as rebalances in the PTS i'm pleased to announce i'll be working on updating this long overdue but very unchanged build. (due to the fact nothings needed to be changed since nothing we use was altered much)

basically put, The Dark Reaper build is making a new comeback and with the hidden blade alone i'v decided the build needs to be redone and refined with the new possibilities and utility ;)

will probably take a week or 2 after the next DLC before i start tweaking the guide itself as i need to make sure everything is stable and worked out before i start changing things :)

ALSO! 5 year anniversary announcement, just noticed, must be why i had such an urge to announce this when i woke up :p
