When do you get them? Any tips, is there any sites that go into detail about them?

I know friends who have just logged in, walked into a castle or keep and got 30k Alliance Points

    Its pretty laggy tbh sometimes the second keep is out of star burst sometimes 3 minutes after.

    I know friends who have just logged in, walked into a castle or keep and got 30k Alliance Points

    As you are defending a keep or resource objective you will be rewarded aproximately every 5 to 10minutes. Oncethe keep or objective is safe from attack you get the BIG defense reward. You can look at the map or your compass what once you see the unter attack icon go away (its not in fire anymore) you will get the reward about 30 seconds later. The problem is you have to stay close to the keep and once the keep is saved teh defenders usually push out and chase the attackers as they run away and usually end up missing the big final defense tick.

    Personally i keep an eye on the keep icon and once you see teh fire go out make sure your are close or get abck as fast as possible so you dont miss that tick.

    Yepp, as long as you are within range of the fighting you will get points on a fairly regular schedule. You don't actually have to participate in the fights to get the defending AP ...
    ;-)

    And these days you won't even necessarily know you're defending given the 5fps and 1 min. render/loading times many players are experiencing...lol

    I'm pretty sure the keep has to be fully repaired too to get the defense tick.

    Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

    The truth is... noone above told actually working mechanism in this game :P

    But it's good! Less people know, more bonus AP for defense/attack I get!

    He's trying to say, none of what you guys said is actually true. Which makes more AP for him.
    No the keep doesn't have to be contested, or stop being contested, or to be fully repaired. No, the last tick isn't necessarily any bigger than the previous ones, it's the same formula.

    Anytime an enemy is killed near one of your keep/outpost/resource, a timer starts. Not sure of the exact duration, but it does seem to be roughly 5 mins.

    During those '5 minutes' every enemy killed in the area of this keep/outpost/resource has his AP added to a total 'AP pool' (every enemy is worth a certain amount of points, which seems to depend on his pvp rank).
    At the end of that timer, this AP pool is evenly split between everyone in your faction standing around this keep/outpost/resource. That's the defensive tick.

    You don't have to hit anyone, nothing has to be contested, or repaired, etc. Doesn't matter. Stand afk on a resource point... an enemy rushes in to suicide, and is killed by the npc. You don't have the points for his death, but in a few minutes you'll get defense points.

    What makes the last tick bigger, when you defend a keep, is simply the fact that a lot of enemy got killed (you successfully finished them off and drove them away, so your faction killed a lot on that push). --> the AP Pool is bigger.
    And people just leave, teleport away if they can, go take the resources, chase the enemy... Therefore it's split between less people.
