Is rankpadding in ESO legit?

We all know the problems of "dominated" or "dead" campaigns.

Players of the "stronk ally" use them for getting pvp buffs or doing pve scout missions in there for getting some Gold and AP.

some Players of the "weak ally" use those dead campaigns for pushing their pvp rank by killing some twink chars (of their clanmates or friends from the "stronk ally") over hours/days/weeks and shining in Rankings with an Advantage over millions of ap´s above the other Players.

Whats the Standing of Zenimax here?

I don't know what ZOS's opinion is, but I know mine -- I don't care ;) Unlike many games, there are no big gameplay advantages to high rank. You get a few skill points and access to some situational skills. It's mostly about bragging rights and a title, though.

Emperor is a different story, as the ex-Emperor buffs are pretty good. But farming for rank? Let them have at it, if that's how they want to play. It doesn't make them any better at killing people who actually PvP.

Hmm... no big game play advantages with these passives?
Combat Frenzy- 26 Ultimate on player kill.
Reach- Extended range of 4m around keeps.
Battle Resurrection- 30% faster player resurrection.
Combat Medic- 20% increased healing around keeps.

Former emp buffs are not substantially better; seeing how a majority of the fights take place at keeps. Both Emp trading and blatant alt farming should be addressed harshly, but ZoS doesn't have the balls to discipline those gaming the system.

Any kill you get credit for. 10s internal cooldown on it.

And the rank 2 of it is 25 Ulti per kill, not 26. I know the rank one rounds the 12.5 per kill up to 13.

    Here was my thinking:

    - Regular PvP'ers will get the first rank of most passives fairly quickly, so the advantage of high-ranked folks is just the marginal difference the second rank makes
    - My comparison point was other games (e.g., Warhammer Online), where a max-ranked PvP char was essentially godlike relative to even a mid-ranked character

I PvP every day, and I do nothing to pad ranks or speed up the process. No oil pot camping for me and my friends. In terms of the things that cause imbalance in PvP, rank-based imbalances are not one of the larger concerns.

We're not comparing the hidden levels, warpforge, and all the other benefits of becoming renown rank 100 in Warhammer because that's not the game we're playing.

By your logic former emperor buffs are not one of the larger concerns either. The buffs are not that substantial. Personally I'd take the extra 2m range, 12.5 ult on kill, 15% faster rez, and 10% increased healing over former emp buffs.

Dismissing and saying "just let them" alt farm because the benefits they receive are not substantial is the same thing as saying "just let them" emperor swap; it's okay because the buffs are not that substantial.

It's a bit hypocritical to say ones okay and the others not when the decision is based on "unsubstantial" buffs gained through collusive means.

Source? Because I'm pretty sure than...... nope.
I get 25 ulti, per killing blow, with no cooldown. 100% sure.

And more on topic, regarding pvp rank farming... pvp ranks don't do anything. An extra skill points, we have plenty anyway though.
Leveling up those active and passive skills, in alliance and support? Well, at a certain point, relatively early, you reach alliance rank 10, and that's it. At pvp rank 24 to be exact.

Most hardcore pvp players already have reached the rank 24, and it didn't require farming alt characters. Solo gank, defend keeps, hold alessia bridge with a couple of friends, have a good pvp raid... whatever. Honestly if what you're after is AP, going on a campaign your faction dominates and chain killing an alt isn't the fastest way to do it.

In a couple of months everyone active in pvp will have all these passives and it won't matter at all. Beyond that, it's just titles and numbers and has absolutely no impact.
