I love playing a Nightblade, SO VERY MUCH! The potential for demonstrating skill and mastery of this class far outshines other classes. We can't necessarily outperform other classes, but that isn't what we were meant to do. Nightblade's play differently than the hack and slasher, or the fireball freekshows (unless you use staves as a nightblade -___-)
I was playing around and discovered that, if executed precisely, you can lunge while in shadow-form. If you do this in a chain-cast, you are effectively sprinting in shadow-form. The only use I can see this for is getting away from a sticky situation FAST. It's a gap MAKER and not really a gap closer. If you use it to close a gap, YOU WILL HAVE NO MAGICKA when you get to your target. Also, you won't be able to stay invisible the entire distance you travel. However, with practice and good timing, you aren't going to be visible long enough to be targeted.
1.) Cast your ability. Your character will raise both hands into the air as you vanish into shadows, and will bring them back down to waist level.
2.) Once hands are at waist level start a sprint, and let go of your sprint key just after character starts sprinting. It will look like a lunge or jump forward, and character will become visible almost immediately.
3.) You cannot recast your shadow cloak until after the shadows around you dissipate. This is the point in time that you will be visible again. But it's a very small fraction of a second. After the shadow clears, recast and repeat.
You will only be able to do this around three to four casts, depending on how much magicka you have. However, this technique can put you out of range fairly quickly. You just have to make sure you're crouch during you're last cast, in order to come out in a hidden status.
