Dawnbreaker (EU): "Abandon Ship" Order

Due to the destruction of Dawnbreaker(EU); as a result of its Guilds en mass Traitorously bailing overnight, the continuation of others thereof, and now the destruction of it's Community: I have therefore Ordered the Abandonment of Dawnbreaker and have /resign commission as "Server Commander" (Ebonheart Pact) and from ESO.

Daggerfall will technically win this second campaign as long as it lasts but they will find themselves on a ghost server with EP gone in no time flat: AD of course already left long ago. I suggest DC players go to AB or Blood to find some action.

It has been a pleasure serving this Server and the Ebonheart Pact while it lasted. The first campaign; especially in the first month, was most fun, and although Daggerfall lost: The "resistance" they put up was most entertaining. Indeed ZeniMax's declaration of the resetting of all servers is/was a self-fulfilling prophecy nonetheless.

I hereby /apologize for my failure to keep this server's community alive until the very end.

The decision as to what to do is up to the players of course... but the server is dead now. I am simply trying to spare you the suffering of staying on a dead server when people can be PvPing on other live servers now.

...the real leaders make sure 100% of player population on a server is engaged in effective combat, coordination of strategy thereof, and morale purpose. That means between groups of people and players and guilds: You cannot TS everyone at same time

Funny because on our campaign we do exactly that. Our raid leader just PMs other group leads and there ya go.

Dont need someone acting as coordinator. Besides, our group seems to do most of the work anyway. (no offense to other AD, I just never see a keep taken that bdg wasnt leading the charge at)

You have heard from my vocal detractors. Perhaps, if some of my core supporters didn't /quit game some time ago, I could provide testimony to the contrary.


They are detractors because they do not believe in my mission: That is to ensure harmony among all players, randoms and orgainzed guilds alike, to exist.

It is a long story of course... however keep in mind that without leaders leading their respectful factions on their servers they will never have any shot of winning the campaign. You need to make sure that 24/7/90 the map is covered and is there to "someone to keep map alive". You need to make sure key battles are won, that what targets are being hit make sense to a greater map strategy, and to to keep moral high on your server long enough so that your popluation outlasts the others (and thus later at night the map can be won).


Else... the server falls apart. This of course is but a sample of what must be done to ensure dominance by any faction: A task that cannot be completed by any one guild or group of players but of an entire faction.

But of course... if no one is there to "lead" you just end up with a bunch of "headless chickens" running around. Sometimes you win ("the power of The Zerg") but most of the time you loose. This game needs leaders and few ever step up to such a Grand Task.


In either case my little "experiement" is over. I hope that others will be more successful no matter.

You know what the difference is between me and you.

I log into Cyrodiil and I check the map to see where the action is so I can find a fight.

You log in to Cyrodiil and obsess over the scoreboard.

Do I try to help run the map? oh sure, but I could care less about the PvE aspect of the map and the little game of risk. Im there to kill OPFOR, not PvDoor or PvE or PvMages.

If fort Aleswell was about to fall to an OPFOR and someone was screaming in zone they needed defense there...

But I was already engaged in a sweet sweet pure PvP fight off near Nikel...

Do you really think im going to Aleswell? Even though its completely plausible I could get there in time, just being two keeps away, do you really think im gonna leave my stabbystabby war (and the sweet AP it gives me) just to stop someone from getting a spawn point that is going to send me even more stabbystabs to kill?

Yes I can see... You treat game as a pure PvP game (no NPCs/objectives) only. WIth this view you could care less about faction winning or loosing.


ALthough many people like you share this view: Alas Cyrodiil isn't a Arena nor Structured PvP. It never was deisgned for this and countless posts/interviews by Zenimax Developers make this clear. It is a war that is intened to be won. That means "PvE objectives" are to be had.


If you don't understand this you are playing the wrong game. You cannot have PvP without PvE as amazing as that sounds, and if the game's "balance" between factions on a server is messed up, pretty soon you end up on a dead server.


So go and do your stabbystabby war. But when you end up on ghost server after ghost server and wonder why everyone but you is left... don't come running to me for answers.

Ghost server? mate i am on the second busiest NA server as home and the busiest one as guest.

PvE objectives are only important to me insofar as I can get where I need to go.

If I run out of players to kill, I log out of Cyrodiil. I flat out refuse to PvDoor (unless pushing for emperor)

WEll based upon info here on forums last time I checked PvP is dead NA side that is the reason for all the game changes.

Indeed like you said you only care about killing players (pure PvP). Many share this opinion with you. But please try to not to "act supprised" if others here try to play the game as intended nonetheless...

Just because his attempt to "mock" my have backfired doesn't mean what he stated isn't the truth: Anyone who takes a VIDEO GAME (and not "real life") seriously is indeed subjected to this logic whether we like it or not.

...and as to your second point: If you were made aware of what has happened on our server you would understand. Blue has had the map for 24+ hours now including primetime. The guilds (Ebonheart) that declared openly they are moving servers have done so, and now other guilds that were "undecided" have thusly "decided".


Let us translate this message into langauge you can understand: "You want stabbystabby war and not PvDOOr? IF you stay on my server you will be PvDOOR ing all day long. So if you don't take my advise and find another server to stabbystabby on you will only regret it and complain about it later."

Start sieging an imp keep or one with a scroll in it. Drop it under 50 so it starts blinking on the map.

Stealth everyone but one guy who occasionally fires a ballista to keep it going.

Wait for someone to investigate

Repeat as necessary. If you get grossly outnumbered cap a resource or other pinch point and set up an oil party.

There are addons to alert people that something is under attack.

They always come. If this doesnt work bring like 5 more guys and ninja a scroll and run it around for a while, that will get the hornets nest out.

No... what I mean is that when the server population==you ... there isn't anything else to kill. That is happening now on Dawnbreaker. There of course will be some "transition time" when DC realizes this nonetheless within 2-3 weeks this server will have 0 players remaining.

Actually I know for a fact a one sided server will have a massive population on it, they just never log in to it until something is threatened.

If youd ever seen the storm that happens when someone threatens to take emp on NA hopesfire or something like that, youd know what im talking about.

People home on those servers for PvE and Guest PvP buffs. Threaten those and they come running like hell.

Perhaps. Perhaps not. Most of the "hard core" population of DC will go to another server and not benefit from these bonuses. It is true that in some situation that this may work at times but it is not any surefire answer or strategy: Pointwise you will still massively loose the map. Indeed there won't be anyone else but you on the server.


So, perhaps if you just wanted to pull aggro to a server that is dead, then maybe in theory it would work. Yet again, like usual, they will likely ignore your presense for awhile. Even if you managed to pull aggro you would only pull small numbers... as most "casuals" won't even waste their time on such situation.

USA and EU is culturally different so strategies on one region may not work on others as well. And need I digress... to do such as thing requires PvDOORing you know... LOTS of it.

Every campaign has a busy time and a dead time anyway. Youre not looking hard enough if you cant find OPFOR to kill, seriously.

Well IN EU we did/does still have many active servers so people guest on the active servers. Like what happened on Dawnbreaker last campaign is that DC would "surge" their population at different times in order to make a push to take map. However they didn't "fall for empty servers" they spent their time only on the "active" ones.


On EU most servers rise/fall at the same time. The top server AB however usually always has people on it, so as you described on your post, if all others were "dead" guesting on AB is the fall back option. People don't want to PVDOOR like you suggest and don't waste their time on dead servers. In fact dead servers usually have Emperorships that last weeks (I saw one on Vol (AD) that lasted 30+days).


I am not saying it is hard to find "OPFOR"... what I am saying is that they are not gonna be on Dawnbreaker any longer (and a host of other servers).

If you build it, they won't come.

As I really haven't met them yet. Then again I tend to play with people who prefer PvP over a PvD metagame.

Indeed your post brings up a good point: Since ZeniMax failed to give a compelling reason to players to care about the "metagame"... instead "PvPers" just end up focusing on killing each other and not "advancing the story".

PvEers are "turned off" because of it as a result.
