2H Skill Momentum

I am level V2 and using a purple 2H weapon (picked up from PVE). However, whenever I hit momentum, my weapon damage is already over charged. So that means over course of 23 seconds, the constant improve to weapon damage is useless. What's the point of having a skill like this (well besides the morph for breaking root in pvp)?

    You get a smaller bonus but you still get a bonus to the weapon damage. Instead of gaining 2% every 2s you gain 1% if your weapon damage is overcharged.

    It does make it less useful, but is still nonetheless a way to improve your weapon damage and skills that scale with weapon damage.

    Thanks for the reply @chaosme‌. I have a quick question, when I level up my VR level to 12, does my weapon damage cap increases? In other words, using the same weapon as now at VR12, will my overcharge kick in much later? If not, this skill become more useless when I find better weapon at higher VR level.

    OC goes up with level, and iirc it goes up with VR. You will still be overcharged at V12.

    I never understood why they would put such a short duration buff that requires many recasts on a weapon with such a slow attackspeed. The added damage of the skill needs to match the second of dps that was lost recasting it and doing no damage.

    The skill is available to every class, and not everyone will be overcharged after activating it. Depends on skills/build/equipment.

    The big problem with Momentum is that it hits diminishing returns really, really quickly, to the point that it no longer becomes worth the opportunity cost of having it slotted over something else. Which is really disappointing, because its a fantastic idea for an ability.

    To make Momentum a more compelling choice, ZOS should do something along the lines of the following;
    1) Greatly increase/remove the weapon damage softcap.
    2) Alter Momentum to increase damage done with 2H basic attacks and abilities.
    3) Alter Momentum to increase critical strike chance/damage.

    In essence, the ability needs a built in way to circumvent the current weapon attack cap.

    Get the morph Rally, and you will appreciate every single of those 2 points you invested on it.

    And nothing better to one shot big fat bosses or player, with Executioner, having Momentum up when you drop them at 25% hp. (even if that is 800 hp).

    When comes to melee damage, every little helps.

    Rally would be great if it returned health over the abilities duration. As it is, its really hard to know if the extra boost of health will be of any use once the 23 seconds have passed. This is especially true if you have any self healing that you use frequently or if you have a competent healer.

    Wait till you get v12, then you get an epic 2H with 164dmg and the skill becomes even more useless...

    Please try to at least have tested what you say so every now and then... it only works when 2H is equipped and i've tested changing weapon after its activated, the ability simply is gone when you hit the change weapons button...
