If adding Arenas, do it like a weekly event lasting 2-3 hours 1 specific weekday - Like a Tournament

As a weekly tournament to participiate in.

Ok since it seem to be having brought up on multiple occations and since I absolutely love Cyrodiil PvP very much and would hate seeing it being ruined with arenas then I have a suggestion though.

We all like Gladiator alike fights and so on and so forth.. so why not be having a weekly 2-3 hour long event (maybe two times on the same day it occur so everyone can get a shot at it) where you can enter the arena and hack and slash your brain out instead... eg. it could be hosted in the Emperor city in the cyrodiil map being a neutral zone when the event is open and that people would be able to enter it when the event is live or something.

Maybe add a jousting event as well during the same event where we sit on horses trying to poke the opponent off his horse and the likes...

    Thats actually a great Idea.

Arena should only be a specific weekly event. with prizes after 3 or 4 hours of competition
Character: Eros, Eros I I, The Paw of Woe
    Class: Templar Healer/MagWarden/ Stam Sorc
    Alliance: DC
    Campaign: Vivec (pc/na)
    Guardians of Daggerfall

Worst idea ever. What about people who want to arena yet actually have lives outside of video games.

Please, if you do so, make Craglorn also only playable at a certain day a week.
So vet zones are more populated and it's fair. ;)

I wasn't at all serious... I dislike limiting content to certain days and times.
I don't mind special tournament events with special reward.
I would love to have some events for PvE as well, maybe double dungeon XP at a certain day or such.

But being able to play certain things only at a special time?
Nah, sounds not good, even less when considering that this game is played by an adult audience with RL limiting gaming time.

the expectations and practise up to the event and more during normal cyrodiil would increase the interest in campaigns as well and in general pvp as well.

Some kind of arena/warzone with small groups every day is so cliche.... more special events alongside this one mentioned here would also keep interest in playing the games up....

More suggestions like a Dungeon run where everyone can enter... and the goal is not to be killed by the NPCs and solve puzzles passing deadly traps on the run fleeing through it getting a reward... if you are good enough to not get yourself killed

Not good, dailies we already have for pvp, tournament based stuff like this should only fit like once a week, else it would be boring and repetetative.

And for the love of god... no ty to arena/warzone alike stuff every day.... weekly only event and also would make more point in having it, especially because of a game like TESO.

If you want warzones/arenas all day long crawl back to wow or swtor... 1 day a week is the way... competetion wise it would also make much more sense...

If all you want is arenas only... why do you even want to play TESO that is so much not about it... wow, swtor and a lot of other games has that feature... where as TESO follow more ways alike EvE Online.

As for life outside video games... set yourself up to do it the week day it occur...

Stop ruining my idea with this nonsense either.... there is threads that support arena n00b all day along content.

The way proposed will be the most far popular choice though if having to add an additional thing in this game to do, most because it match with the current system and will not over run the intended way of how pvp should be in this game either.

once every 24 hours means the fights are better and mean more to the participants

repetitive at once every 24 hours? lol

Personally think it would be too often, maybe being able to enter tournament per maybe 2 or 3 set weekdays... and cooldown is not mounted onto players but server time... so let us say... the tournament is now open at 20:00 hours server time, maybe even with a global announcement 30 minutes before it start being repeated once per 10 minutes until it is live then.

lol so only players who are on at that time get to participate?

have you even put any thought into this?

Similiar system work great in other games, would of course be adjusted to euro hours and US hour for the two servers that exist.

Plenty of thought... it is rated as a timed event... does not mean you cannot enter it once one hour has passed on you can still enter the event... heck even if there is let us say only 30mins left of it.

Thought it well through... this gotta be a thing that would be able to adapt to the current system without ruining the current cyrodiil pvp.

If want the most out of it be on time, it is simple =)

As it is I like the current PvP system though, it is awesome and not alike alot of those other games that just make me go like booooring... but on weekly term or maybe twice a week being able to flex or attempt to flex at others with a tournament alike thing would just add on to content to do when you can do it.

timed server pvp events will never be implemented. the devs are smarter than that. no offense.

no pvp mmo has done timed pvp events successfully, ever.

You nailed it down for good... no one has officially done such... other than playermade events in different MMOs.

Makes perfect reason for them to do something no one has done before, especially because it would be meaningfull and not bash the far majority of having their Cyrodill pvp totally ruined by lol-pvp'rs.

Maybe it would be also great if they would add a normal permanent arena for each realm without a ranking or reward system. After that you could introduce a weekly arena by saying: "ok, you've practised pvp now with your friends....Lets show us your skill against the other factions players so that we can see who is currently at the top"

First off, I never said I even want arenas.

I do love the mentality on forums of inferring from someone's comment, what you'd like to respond to.

What I said, is that it's a bad idea to limit something a lot of people would enjoy to a once a week thing. If you do that, it's like saying, "If you want to enjoy this part of the game you pay for, it has to be more important than anything else in your life at that time."

I for one do not schedule my life around a video game. I play when I have free time. This is recreation, not work.

Point: Limit when you can do it and you limit who can do it.

It is a good thing to limit something... it offer more prestige to accomplish... and yet not ruining the game either.

I do understand your concern, do not get me wrong on it.. we only have one life.. but am willing to make some sacrefices..... annnd among many others seeking prestige and perfection is mostly like why I posted this to begin with.

Just it being some thing you can do day after day anytime a day/night will really make it boring -_- one of the reasons why I quit other games or just the pvp in them or played their arena alike stuff out to the limits 3 months in a row non stop for then never again focusing only on the PvE Raid content... and trust me in those other MMOs I swept the enemies over the ground dragging them in their hair yelling and screaming.

Also a good chance to get revenge over the other factions and maybe even run away with a prize during it as well.
