Please, help me fine tune my Nightblade as a classical assassin archetype

Before anyone start trolling, flaming, complaining, etc. , I would like to introduce myself and this thread. And please, excuse my bad english, since it's not my mother tongue.

I am an old videogame player, 45 years old actually, with very little time to dedicate to games (unfortunately). I usually focus on just one single mmorpg, and that's it. I started many many years ago, with UO, then EVE, then WoW, Lotro, AoC, Aion, TSW, GW2 and a few others I don't remember now.
I am now playing Elder Scrolls Online, but at my own pace, that means very slowly. Just to clarify: I started my nightblade few days after launch in april, today I am just at level 46. I have hardly 3-4 hours per week to dedicate to gaming and this mean ESO.
I played slowly, enjoying every quest, exploring every hidden corner of the game so far. I have been playing solo, without a guild so far, and just doing quests and solo PvE content. My target is to reach Vet 1 rank and then move to PvP in Cyrodiil.

In all those MMORPG that allowed me to do so I played the assassin/thief/rogue class (only exception in Lotro where I was a tank, and I still have no idea why...) and now in ESO this is why I am playing a nightblade. And please note that I am a "single toon" player, do not want alts, I just want to concentrate on one single character.
I know very well that stamina builds (for any class) are not very efficent, but I am not interested in being the top DPSer in game, nor the best PVPer in game. I just want to have my fair chance to play and eventually kill a few enemy players from time to time.
I know that it's not the Nightblade assassin archetype that is not working, but the DW and Bow weapons that are probably the worst choice as weapons right now, due to the fact that stamina is used for a lot of other things (sprint, block, evade, hiding...). But this is mostly a problem for sustained damage, for long fights that can happen in group dungeons against bosses (which is not what I am interested in) or in large scale battle in PvP (but again, I am not in a guild, so I will not participate muche to those either).

So I would like to fine tune my nightblade mainly for solo play, focusing my time in game mostly in PvP: small fights, 1v1, ganking. But still having some chances to continue to gain Vet Ranks (which from what I understand are mostly done by completing PvE quests. Correct me if I am wrong, pls.)

This is what I have been playing so far, more or less:
http://tiny.cc/pb5dhx (links to Esohead Skill Calculator)

Dual wield bar:
-Dark Cloak
-Surprise attack
-Killer's Blade
-Blood Craze
-Rapid Strikes
-Soul Harvest

Bow bar:
-Swallow Soul
-Venom Arrow
-Magnum Shot
-Crippling Grasp
-Piercing Mark
-Veil of Blades

First of all I do not use Siphoning Strikes (or its morph) because I am not going to engage in long fights. If I can't kill all my enemies in few seconds, I will just retreat (or at least try to...). I want to dish out the highest burst damage possible since I will face just small groups: from 1 up to 4 enemies max. If there are 5 or more I will not even try of course. If in a small pug I guess the fights will last few seconds anyway.

As you probably already saw from the link above, my toon is a nord nightblade. Probably it does not make any sense to play a nord nightblade. But when I play a mmorpg I need to appease my aesthetical sense. And when I created my toon I thought that health recover and armor bonuses were a nice idea for a pvp toon. (ok, ok, I know... I wasted it, but it's too late now!)

For dual wield I am using two daggers, as mundus stone I use The Thief. All to maximize crit chance. 5 armor pieces are medium, 2 are light. I do not want to use staves (any kind). I tried, I hated them, I want to forget them.
I don't want to become a vampire or a werewolf, unless you give me a very, very, VERY good explanation and a good reasoning to do so.

Now, I am here to ask a few thing, and to discuss about this style of play, with a stamina build NB.

1) What do you think about the skills in my two bars? What would you change and why?
2) Will this build be able to slowly complete Vet ranks?
3) Will this build work for the kind of PvP I explained above?
4) Any suggestion about my style of play in ESO? Any idea that would help me improve my gaming experience?

Please, note that I have been enjoying very very much levelling so far. But I am very worried about what I read for NB in the Vet ranks. I hope that it's referred mostly to PvE gameplay and even more to group PvE.

Well, thanks a lot for your patience, and for being so kind to read all this wall of text. I really hope you will be constructive and will help me in getting better.
Thank you very much in advance for all your suggestions, critiques or even criticisms.

Thanks.

I could just tell you my DW skillbar but that wouldnt be of any help, there isnt a cookie cutter stamina build so you have to experiment a lot and find what works for you.

Sounds like you know what you are doing so i wouldnt worry too much.

When it comes to pvp we are a lot more efficient than what you read on the forum ;)

I might send you a PM with a couple of things i dont want to share (not because they are secret but im afraid i would get flamed by nightmages).

    Get concealed weapon!

About Concealed weapon. I used it, a lot, but so far (just questing and doing pve things) I found Surprise attack more efficent, even if it gives just a 40% debuff on armor. But this debuff allows me to kill the first enemy faster than i would without it. Maybe it's just a matter of "believing so", I never actually checked how much more damage I deal with that debuff and if the first kill is really "faster".
But I understand that in a PvP environment, probably Concealed weapon will give me more benefits than Surprise attack.
    Thank you for your suggestion!

Veil of Blades belongs on the DW bar. You will be next to things and wanting mitigation.

And don't be shy about swapping Rapid Strikes for Steel Tornado, For groups of 3+.

Personally I would swap out Flurry with Hidden Blade though. Its more stamina but it gives you a ranged ability on your DW bar and it snares. I haven't run the number but I believe the DPS is higher due to not having a channel time so for burst it feels like more damage for me since you can weave in an attack + hidden blade while others are still going stab stab stab. Plus it's great for when weapon swapping isn't being responsive and you can't swap to your ranged bar. Ambush is also good to swap in and out for your DW bar if you are feeling more like meleeing.

For Mundis stone have you tried the Shadow instead of the Thief? I run with 7 Medium armor and have I believe a 51% crit chance on.

Also for my Bow ult I prefer the World Ultimate due to it being ranged and doing a stupid amount of damage. Depending on if i'm solo ganking, small group ganking or zerging I change Magnum back and forth with Snipe and sometimes swap something out for Volcanic Rune to knock people off Keeps.

The great thing about this game is you can really swap builds whenever you want so nothing has to be set in stone so play around with it and see what works best for you. I've been trying out Funnel Health instead of Concealed Weapon since the damage is similar but gives me a little extra health and heals others. I Ambush in and pop Funnel Health for the bonus dmg so I get a bigger heal.

I would also suggest looking into becoming a vampire for the passives. Dark Stalker is stupid amazing. I couldn't go back to normal sneak speed after using it for so long now. It greatly increases your sneak speed and if you combine it with Concealed Weapon you sneak almost as fast as someone sprints. That has saved me many many times when dark cloaking away.

Oh forgot to mention for VR content, you will be swapping around there too. Volcanic Rune or Terror will provide great CC. Whirlwind will provide good AoE dmg. Personally I went in and concealed weapon + light attack + killer's blade and that kills the first guy (assuming concealed didn't kill the first one right away) and then just go to town on the other two while remembering to block big hits. If I took too much dmg I would simply dark cloak and feed if they were humanoid and regen all of my health. If they aren't humanoid then having Drain Power helped alot but those are both vampire abilities. IMO all stealth based nightblades should be vamps.. just run from fire.. and run Dark cloak to purge fire siege weapons

Concealed weapon + dark cloak + rapid maneuver = as fast as a horse amd you will regen your stamina while running invisible.

Of course as a vamp you are even faster but a lot more ugly too.

This is the next build that I will be tinkering with on the PTS and I will let you know how it works out. The idea is to max weapon damage and speed up my heavy attacks so that they are hitting almost as fast as light attacks. Pair this with Hundings rage 5 piece and 3 piece whitestrakes and you will have a pretty decent build I hope lol

if anyone has some feedback or has tried a build like this please offer some feedback

Why Whitestrakes (good but mostly a defensive proc) and not Night's mother gaze? It fits a stamina nb just perfectly.

I use Ashen Grip because i like to think people is scared by my cat breathing fire.

Surprise attack is a great move for those who use weapon attacks or light/heavy non staff attacks. Reduced armor doesn't really help magic users from what I have seen

Because the shield scales of stamina but most don't know because they don't stack stamina...its pretty op for a 3 piece bonus

I will try Hidden Blade (maybe morphed in Flying Blade?).
No, never tried The Shadow. I am still at around 34-35% crit chance, so I'd rather increase chance than the crit damage.

I never took in consideration the World Ultimate, it looks interesting. Is it a channeled skill? I will try it for sure.

About becoming Vampire... I would really like to avoid it. But if you say it is really that good I may check it and maybe try. I still have to learn how it works though. To get all the goodies from the Vampirism can I stay at the first stage or do I have to do deeper to higher stages? Is it easy to stay at the first stage (how often do I have to feed, is it easy to feed, is the 50% fire damage debuff painful)?

There are 4 Stages, starting with Stage 1. After 30min without feeding you turn to stage 2, then 1h, then 2h. I think. While increasing your Stage, you get more damage from fire (up to 75% more), have reduced health regeneration, but your vampire abilities cost way less.

I am just the NB you desire to become. Sneaky assassin with insane burst. I am able to kill VR12s before they can react and I'm VR2.

I'm Vampire for one reason: Dark Stalker Passive. You unlock that very late (around level 10 of 10), don't know exactly anymore.

It makes you insanely fast and is almost undisposable of, if you've tried it once.

    Very good info here.
But my question is: would it work if I stay at stage 1? The buff would work the same?
Would it be better to go to stage 2 and get Unnatural Resistance?
How do I feed? Any npc? Even monsters/beasts would work?
How often do i have to feed? Once a day, more often? Every X hours of gameplay?
Because, apart from the "ugly look", it seems a huge downgrade to have fire damage debuff (in pvp Sorcerers and Dk have fire spells) and reduced health regen just for a speed buff in stealth.

Well, unless you're not going to use Vampire Abilities I would suggest staying at Stage 1 (which means feeding all 30min). The passives are there for all stages, unchanged. The only thing that's positive about vampire stages is cost reduction for vamp abilities.

    Feeding:
    1. You must be undetected (Shadow Cloak works too)
    2. You must be behind your target
    3. Target must be humanoid (NPC, Players)
    4. Press X

Well, when you've reached Stage 4, you don't necessarily have to feed again, you'll just stay Stage 4 forever. But like I said, I suggest staying Stage 1. Feed once every 30min and you're fine. It sounds annoying, but it honestly isn't. Just fight some NPC and then Shadow Cloak, go behind him and press X, voilà, one Stage lower.

Stage 4 is absolutely stupid in PvP. Oil hits you for 3500dmg straight.

You do not get -75% fire resistance.. it's always -50% no matter what stage you are in. This isn't Skyrim.

Once you play around with vampirism enough you really won't care what stage you are in anymore. Health Regen is pretty worthless in PvP anyways since it's so bursty. I feed when I can but half the time it really makes no difference. Also with the other passive that reduces the negates Stage 1 and Stage 2 have no penalty as far as health regen so it's like 1 1/2 hours to feed. Or is it 1 hour? I forget how long Stage 2 is.

The main reason i bother feeding is cause I wear the seducer set on my vamp chick and I'm not a fan of veiny boobs... The health regen doesn't bother me.

Feeding is also just great for PvE and the rare times you can do it in PvP too. It's a massive heal. I think I get around 550-600 per tick and you get way more ticks than it takes to fill your health bar. So in 1v1 if you can pull it off mid fight it's huge even if they break it since by the time they do you probably get 1 or 2 ticks off which is 550-1200 health.

The fire penalty is also mitigated by wearing 1 piece of Fire resist jewelry. You still take more damage than usual but I don't find it to be that horrible. Ofcourse I've been a vamp so long it just feels like normal damage to me so who knows. But like I said, fire siege weapons do hurt so dark cloak those things off.

    Thanks.

Your build and mine are vary close too each other. The only thing I have too say is shadow disguise Is probably the better option "IF" your going crit based. If you going a combination of damages just test your gear design Out. Rember that your main damage resource need too be the highest, the your support rescourse 2nd highest. Other wise it's not bad. I'm going for a non stealth based NB, and it's inspired by the Jedi sentinel from swtor some what

I dont know, while a 100% crit chance after every cloak is very tempting; my experience in Cyrodiil tells me that dots are nasty and i dont like to walk back :\

I am very happy with Dark cloak and a 30% base chance of crit, its a good compromise, and im basically immune to dots.

Another thing id like to point out is that a pure crit build is effective but also easy to counter with a few "impenetrable" pieces.

Yep that is just a play style choice. See I'm building by using crit as just a "bounce" because I only use the "cloak" too enable my stealth attacks. I'm focusing on weapon power and crit my logic behind that is the larger my attacks are without crit the better they will be when I do crit, the damage roll too determine the damage should roll before the crit roll, so it would be. Damage roll, crit roll. If this theory is correct you will be doing tons of damage. But if u want too go for burst then all crit over all is better imo. My NB is lvl 14 and doing 120-200 dps now with nothing special going on gear wise.

Also if u look at the passives with using the cloak you have well over 100% crit. At max level the cloak offers 100% crit chance.

Thanks all for the info about Vampires. I think that for now I will stick to a normal character and see how it works in Vet ranks and PvP.

I am trying to get used to Dark Cloak in place of Shadow Disguise for the debuff remove option, very useful in PvP. I prefer to reduce a little the damage burst and have a little survailability.
I will mainly focus on being in stealth, probably it's a different play style from yours, but this is the beauty of this game: all the possible variation of each class.
    Thanks for your suggestion.

So, summing up after reading all your great ideas:

    Dual wield bar:

    -Dark Cloak
Removing dot's has priority over increased crit chance, at least in PvP, and anyway passives and equipment should give me a very good crit chance, very close to 50% I guess.

    -Concealed weapon
A 40% armor reduction on target from Surprise attack (alternative morph) sounds good, but apparently is not that great, and it does work only on stamina based attacks. And you can get that 40% debuff on your target in other ways. So Concealed weapon, with its higher speed while stealthed is the way to go.

    -Killer's Blade
Our best finisher, use it when your target is below 25% (o is it 20%?) health. Killing target will heal you, much better than the increased range for the other morph.

    -Blood Craze
Instant damage and 9 sec dot with some healing. This will be the only source of healing on DW bar, this is why I did not chose the snare morph Rending Slashes.

    -Flying Blade*
A ranged attack that deals good damage. I preferred this over Blood craze due to the fact that Blood craze is a channeled skill, and in PvP can be easily avoided.

    -Veil of Blades
Great Ultimate. Less damage recieved, snared enemies and decent damage over time. Much better than Soul Harvest that is a single target Ultimate, even if this one recharges very fast.

    *Alternative to Flying Blade skills:

    -Ambush
Jump on your prey and next attack will deal higher damage.

    -Steel Tornado
    For group aoe.

Will think about the Bow bar later on.
    Thanks

Maybe this video will give you a few ideas.

Your load-outs are solid - though I would get rid of rapid strikes immediately and slot ambush instead.
    - The Psijic Order
    - TKO
    - Dominant Dominion
    - The Noore

Interesting video, but it seems to be quite old (March 26th), many things have changed since then. But I will watch it with great attention.

Yes, as I posted few minutes before you, I am changing my bars. Rapid strikes has been substitued by Flying Blades (or as alternatives Ambush or Steel Tornado).
