Siege Damage

I feel that some of the damage siege does needs to be tweaked against players. It seems like Siege used to devastate players and was the one way to break the zerg, but now it seems to not even do much to most players. Anyone agree or disagree?

People have figured out how to use siege shield and purge/purify.

Set up a few fire trebuchets, fire them at the exact same time = people die.

Use siege correctly, and you will destroy players/zergs.

With a team of 4, we obliterated a group of 12+ when they broke into our inner keep, we used 3 siege equipment.
    1Oil, 1Meat Cata and 1Fire Balli.

I have also been told that when it comes to taking a keep, people have figured a ballistea against the wall will do more DPS then a Treb? Anyone else figure this is true? Couldnt find any real data on it.

Yeah, ballistas have a higher dps than trebs.

It is true, that the normal ballista has a higher dps than a treb. Sole reason is that it shoots faster. Trebs are useful for their projectile trajectory (Hitting on top of or over walls.)

Agreed. The problem is that people just use Fire Ballistas which are great but arent going to do it alone. You need a mix of MeatBag, Fire/Lighting Balista, and Oil Catapult. You have a Slow, healing reduction, and damage dealer between the 3 and it will wipe most groups. If you just spam Fire Ballistas, with proper skills, you can negate most of it. You just need to experiment with the other types.

That seems backwards. Trebs i thought were designed for taking down walls, Ballistea for taking down siege. Wonder if this is working as intended.

To add to this (I forgot to mention) trebs can also 'snipe' inner posterns before the outer walls are down. This is actually very useful as it drastically lowers the time it takes to capture a keep

A lot of things in this game are not working as intended. But I can tell you from experience that 1 man, firing two ballista(running back and forth between the two during reload times) is the most viable way to take down a wall. (In a group situation, as not to take up valuable siege space.) If your running solo, you can drop 3 stone trebs and fire them(one after the other due to reload times) to achieve the same dps.

There's also buffs and armor sets that decrease siege damage.

    ^ This

Also, hitting a player with a fire balista when they have 3,000 fire resistance isn't going to be all that successful.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

Those tactics only work on the uninitiated. Siege Weapon Shield at Rank IV Grants a 90% reduction from siege damage. Try wiping a group like this that is competent and has someone purging/healing. When defended against correctly, siege doesn't do enough damage to players. I agree with the OP to that extent.

Then you need to leave the keep and flank push. If their group has that many shield/healers, you will really want a sizeable defense force anyway.

I agree seige (not oil) should be higher damage. As many have stated, you can kill people by focus firing at the same time (mostly into a zerg), but not very many, and most intelligent players aren't going to stand in seige range for very long. When you see enemy seige go up, your initial reaction should be, "oh ****". You shouldn't expect to make it through seige fire, rather, it should be something you have to take out or go around before you can continue.

all that moving around also makes it harder for the countersiegers to hit you. siege is powerful but hard to aim and has a big delay (and a big red circle on the ground to warn you) but i agree, i don't think you should really be able to take an enormous flaming metal bolt right through your poor tiny body and live. maybe add a snare or something. even if it only falls on your toe that's gotta hurt.
