Since Dark Elves became the way they are because of Azura....

Would that make them part Daedra? They have an affinity to flame and resistance to it. So do Daedra. They also have "Hellish" red eyes like Daedra.

That thought also crossed my mind. Are all Elves the the Divines response to Daedra? I cant recall the creation of elves so I could be entirely wrong. And if you look at the High Elves, who are thought to resemble the very first elves, theyre golden with fair eyes. The polar opposite of Daedra.

From what I read, mers are weakened divine being after creation of the Nirn.

These are Aedra, in comparison to daedra, who did not participate the creation.

From my stand point, both Aedra and Daedra are divine beings, they are fundamentally the same.

What made Dark Elves "the way they are", and what exactly "are" they? I dunno much about them.

Basically they were like High Elves (If I remember correctly) and Azura cursed them because of the Tribunal.

Aedra, all Mer are kin to the Aedra. Some may have Deadric blood as well, but not all.

People believe what they either want to be true or what they are afraid is true!
    Wizard's first rule
    Passion rules reason
    Wizard's third rule
Mind what people Do, not what they say, for actions betray a lie.
    Wizard's fifth rule
Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self

They were Chimer. Not quite like the Altmer - the first elves (Aldmer) split into different groups: Altmer, Chimer, Dwemer, Falmer etc.

Unlike other elves, Chimer worshipped Daedra. So while they do not directly come from them, they're their spiritual descendants in a way (which may or may not be especially significant in this world where belief literally shapes reality). Dunmer still call them the ancestor spirits and the Tribunal confirmed their position by taking place of the Anticipations: Mephala, Boethiah and Azura.
