is there a way to see stealthed players from far away?

I was stealthing up to an enemy gate, just wanting to get past it to grab a skyshard when 3 characters ran out of the gate, made a sharp right turn and ran right at me. They seemed to know I was there from 100's of meters away. This was no accident. There was no way they would have gone that way unless they knew I was there. So is there a method or exploit to see players that are stealthed? Do players that are dead but not released see stealthed players? Im asking that because when I went back there was a dead enemy laying in front of their gate. Im suspecting he was their sentry.

edit: and no, the detected eye was not open.

They may have been using Magelight, or a morph of it, which helps spot stealthed players, although this works only within 12 metres. Are you sure it was "hundreds of metres", because I think that's an exaggeration.

"Magelight summons a light that helps to detect hidden and invisible enemies but reduces your max magicka. The ability is very useful in PvP."

Range limited. In the patch notes there was something about dead players seeing enemies in stealth but it was supposedly fixed.

Did you by chance see any of your own faction's players anywhere around? It would be trivial to have spies in other factions.

They could have used a stealth detection potion. It's the Detection trait on some alchemy plants. The potion raises stealth detection by, like, 20 some odd meters.

It could have also be a nightblade or even a khajiit, they have some of the best stealth abilities under the class and racial skill lines or the player could use a potion.

You know how the Gate of Ghartok has a gate in the middle of a wall, and the wall goes hundreds of meters out to a cliff? I was against the cliff about 50 meters away from the wall. Thats way more than magelight should be doing. They rode out through the gate then turned and headed straight for me while I stood there thinking they would ride by.

Well, Im a NB so I know that NB's dont get anything to see stealth better. On a side note, I do have khajiit stealth increase and 7 piece medium stealth increase. Thats almost the best stealth you can get.

There is an eso hack out zos is not able to detect. It uses player esp/radar detection. Most ppl i caught using it are Vet lvl 13-16 (and lvl cap is v12), and you are able to see the player lvl in death recap

Are you sure those were players. From what i have seen the enemy faction npcs have a extremely high detection range.more than 100 m. It is practically impossible to sneak past them without some invisibility effect.

Yea they were players. They had the red icon over their heads.

I know you cant sneak past the gate exactly. What you can do though is get just outside of agro range, put a HoT and spell resist up, then run for it. Once you get just inside the gate the npcs stop blasting you.
