Craglorn ruined ESO

Aside from completely destroying the challenge in obtaining VR levels, epic drops, rare mats and basically anything else that made it worthwhile to pursue a top level character... what was introduced with Craglorn that was of any value to the general player base?

Sure, I like the idea of trials, and on the surface a group-oriented zone aimed at upper level VR players all sounds like a really good idea. In practice, however, it is just a sea of PUGs filled with lower level VRs all trying to grind their way to VR12, generally in the same few areas of the map i.e. Balamath, Seeker's, Anomalies, etc. Either that or they are farming the (formerly) rare drops to sell to lower levels.

The other day I went looking for a few treasure chests in Craglorn (from treasure maps I had obtained while mindlessly following an anomaly grind group back and forth - getting about 80k XP every 5 mins or so without ever risking my death or requiring any skill, I might add) and as I left the buzz of the nearby anom grinders and made my way across the deserts of Hammerfell, I couldn't help notice that it wasn't just the landscape that appeared barren. There was a noticeable lack of players. There were so many enemies I couldn't possibly hope to engage even one with my squishy NB without being swarmed by an absolutely overwhelming mob. But hardly any other players in sight. In fact, the only players I did see who weren't grinding at anoms or standing outside Balamath were just there to farm nodes.

It seems the deserts of Craglorn are the perfect metaphor for ESO's future: a barren, inhospitable wasteland, unforgiving and intolerant of all but the mightiest exploiters.

I know you're dead-set on shoving your vision of the game down our throats ZOS, but perhaps you should take a look-see at your latest brainchild before considering any new content, since clearly you have absolutely no idea what the majority of people actually want from this game. Or at very least you have no idea how to provide it without wrecking things further.

If the quest zones werent such a soul crushing grind people wouldnt be grinding anomalies.

    Ever think about that?

You think its a challenge when in reality, its a pain in the ass. Dont think so?

Why do you think people are boss grinding...

I never said quests weren't a soul crushing grind.

I said you shouldn't be able to go from VR1 to 12 in the span of a few hours by mindlessly following a grind group.

I mean, do you really find that anymore entertaining or rewarding?

Im not disagreeing with you, Im stating why people are doing it.

The sorry state of VR leveling is bad; the pace should have been kept it as if it was before 50.

Yes it is. I know because have I done it.

Yes, that is the way the game is designed at present, and I'm not calling anyone a cheater or criticizing them for taking advantage, by any means.

But there is absolutely no doubt in my mind when I am getting 80k XP for just being present while my PUG blindly guns down an anom boss for the billionth time, that the system is broken.

Farming bosses is not an "Exploit" dummy.

Mmm gathering xp from farming bosses to the point where you can level from VR10-VR12, the entirety of the content release, in a couple hours, is an exploit.

The zone was obviously designed along the lines of dailies and Shada's Tear is similar to a Warcraft heroic dungeon. We were supposed to tackle this stuff slowly, in stages. In that way VR10 to VR12 would've taken weeks, at least. Instead, because the game allowed us to, we zerged it and found the quickest, easiest way to glom xp and loot.

Grinding Craglorn is a bore. Veteran Questing is painful. The game is just poorly designed. Craglorn should have been capped with V10 and up allowed to enter. Craglorn should have been tested thoroughly on a Public Test Server. Veteran Content should have been tested specifically in beta.

We are now just beating a dead horse.

Yes it is. Go quest in real VR land if you don't know what the real level curve is, maybe you should reevaluate who you criticize for low intelligence.

Stop calling people 'dummy', lets everyone know you are a turd.

VR land is not the real level curve. It's scaled up trash mobs that are more difficult than bosses in the same area because they wanted to recycle content using some multipliers and call it "veteran".

I've been grinding there simply because at VR8 I needed a break from the questing and the super powered trash in VR levels, I worked my way through however many land masses & quests, spent accumulated days grinding for ore and other crafting stuff to refine for gold drops and I don't feel bad that I grabbed a couple of levels in this way and having some fun meeting/chatting to people while doing so.

Tomorrow I will be back in Shadowfen questing to keep Cadwell happy but my weapons will hit a little harder and I can wear a Mannimarco costume if I want...

All the others grinding levels there will either come back to carry on their questing or return to PvP especially if the anomalies get changed on Monday.

Sure it has made VR levels a bit empty for a couple of weeks, which is one reason I cracked and went, but either they will come back from Craglorn or ESO has bigger problems which Craglorn is revealing not causing.
