Will I ever return?

I've just reached level 49 in Coldharbour, and the only thing I have left to do in my home the Alik'r, is to catch a few rare fish. Thinking about the journey I have ahead of me got me thinking about the home I'm leaving behind, and raises a question, will I ever return?

What happens when I'm VR12, where will I go to kill stuff and get drops? Why can't that place be the Alik'r? Why does it have to be another factions area, or Craglorn, why can't it be the place I picked, the place I call home?

I'm hoping at some point (before I reach VR12 hopefully) they add the ability to return to your homeland and find it overrun by VR12 creatures. When I eventually finish the content and have nothing else to do, I want to return home and live out my life in the Alik'r with the option of walking outside and slaying some competent opponents at any time.

That kind of impossible really because you would have to have a zoned instance of the level for just you, as it would be unfair to have vr 1 people running into vr12 mobs in the zone you are in.
Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

You've already secured your home from threat, at least for the time being. It's time for you to spread your wings, and bring peace to other sections of Tamriel, unless you would be more inclined to enjoy the comfort and peace you've created on your home soil.

It would be the same as playing other factions zones, you don't share those instances with level 1 players.

I don't care if I'm in another instance to be honest. I would rather an empty Alik'r with VR12 monsters than returning to a populated one with level 30 monsters. It's not like there would be any meaningful interaction with those lower level players anyway.

The thing is, it's not secured completely. There's still plenty of combat to be had on the sands of the Alik'r. I just want them to ramp up the levels of those enemies for the veterans returning home.

You would have the other factions playing in your zone is what i'm saying, they would be running through the VR1-5 in your zone which is now VR12 because you are there.

Why though? It can be however they set it up, that's the beauty of instancing.

It would be server intensive to have an instance of a VR12 solely for you and for anyone else with the same request. We would wind up with millions of instances for each player.

That is like me saying I want to go to a level 49 area and have them instance it to level 4 because I want to start there instead of where they wanted me to start.

Perhaps I'm not explaining my request. When you are done everything in the game, the only areas with veteran rank monsters to go kill and get items are in the two alliances you didn't pick.

I'm suggesting that when a player reaches the last rank(VR12) they get the option to return to their homeland and fight VR12 monsters there. Clear dolmen, fight bosses, do the dungeons again, except versus VR12 monsters.

It would split the instances of each faction area in two, one for end game players and then the normal one for everyone else.

Not only would this allow for end game players to decide where they want to spend their retirement, it would also open the door for ZOS to add new content to all the areas of the game, like some new VR12 quests in Rivenspire for example. On top of that, when the theives guild comes, it would be nice for players at end game to have some what of a challenge while completing those quests.

You're done everything in the game? (Okay, you mean everything you want to do. I'll respect that. ; ))

Except that VR12 isn't the last rank. It's the last rank so far.

When the next content update ups the max to VR14, does that mean that your home zone is suddenly VR14, so you have to leave to level up again before you can handle the mobs?

I'm not arguing with you; I like your idea. But I think it needs some refining and clarification.

Yeah I don't know about when they add more ranks to the game. I guess you get thrown back to the normal zone until you reach top rank again? Or maybe the instance could have everyone from VR10 and up. But then what rank monsters will be there?

Also, people who grind to those levels might still have quests left to do in those areas. So maybe it's based on the achievement for completing all the quests in the game or something along those lines.

Ideally I'd love them to create a whole other expansion that sends us back home to do VR13-15 or whatever ranks they decided. But, I can understand why people wouldn't want them to just recycle old areas if there's so much of Tamriel(and the rest of Nirn, Oblivion, etc) left to explore.

I'm not trying to say my idea is perfect, I'm just saying something like it would be nice to have for "end game" players.
